It's a place where they exploit those who need help. The kitchen staff, all residents, work 12 hours a day, including weekends. The garden staff, also all residents, work in temperatures that reach 40-45 degrees Celsius… without permission to seek shade, under the orders of engineer Cristina, who is anything but an engineer and claims that everything that happens there is therapeutic. While I was there, I had surgery, and the doctors said I would need at least a month of complete rest. However, less than 48 hours after the surgery, I was already working in the laundry, barely able to stand on my own two feet. That's what therapy is like at Horta Nova. It's all therapeutic! The Horta Nova technical team needs to spend some time living on the street so that when they speak loudly to the residents, they understand what they're talking about instead of parroting what they learned in books. The street and street life teach much more. In short: it's a veritable concentration camp.
