5/27/25 "Lovely, tidy, capacious library with outstanding staff". I love coming to this library, and the two things that consistently stand out are the quiet, spacious work area in the adult computer section and the… courteous, helpful staff. These features truly make the library shine. Edgewater library is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, with ample space on the second floor to spread out your belongings. Additionally, it's rare not to find a spare computer available. Each floor of the library features 2 washrooms and a small rest area equipped with tables and chairs for taking phone calls. These thoughtful amenities greatly benefit those seeking a distraction free work environment. Also, virtually all the employees have demonstrated remarkable willingness to go above and beyond in assisting me with any needs. The morale and enthusiasm of the staff are truly outstanding. This location even has a knowledgeable and dedicated Cybernavigatior who provides expert assistance with computer related questions. Jason, in particular, is a pleasure to work with-he's exceptionally patient, and his technical expertise is impressive. Edgewater Library even offers Memory Cafe meetings-a warm, supportive space for individuals with memory loss and their care givers. Katy is truly at the heart of it. Her kindness, charismatic energy and quick communication with library patrons make everyone feel welcome. Paired with Jason's practical, specialized knowledge, they make an incredible team. The only minor "inconvenience" at the library is that the printers are located on a different floor from the adult work area. However, this is a small issue, especially given the convenience of an elevator, a quiet and spacious work environment, and the professionalism of the staff. It's worth the 2 hours of travel and I highly recommend visiting soon.

I visited Edgewater branch of the Chicago Public Library where I left solutions to ratio problems and the papers I left last time with the solution to work problem under the flower pot. All of the papers and solutions… on the carton I placed in the recycle bin on the second floor inside one of the rooms.

This has been my library for a few years now, and I have only good things to say! My holds and such are handled promptly. The plethora of tables, outlets, and other seating upstairs is really convenient when I just need… somewhere to work and can't pay for coffee/etc. It has a large enough home collection to make it nice to browse shelves for something interesting. I don't know much about their children's and teens collections, but they seem well attended and aren't a mess or anything.

A vital institution in our community. The internet access and staffing for same provide a crucial link for equality in access. Kids are kept safe by keeping all the kids books on the 1st floor where staff can more… directly monitor activity. An EdgewAter civic gem.
