Childrens Village Inc – Dobbs Ferry Detox and Rehab Services

Childrens Village Inc – Dobbs Ferry carries a listing for residential treatment and sober living. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.

Addiction and mental health are worked on at the same time here. Supported housing is recorded for people continuing treatment after a more intensive stage. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

I was a resident there in the late 80's..... That place was pure hell for me..... I couldn't walk to and from school without being attacked, everything I owned was stolen, they tried to get me taken away from my… parents.... And just about every one of us who where there has had their shoulders dislocated due to restraint techniques that are reserved for violent adults, not kids from 8 to 12..... I hope to God it's gotten better.... I really do.... Brookside was my cottage....

I was only there briefly and said hello that same day, as I accompanied someone whose child is there. I hope everything works out for this woman. Love and peace.

Many staff appear undertrained. The website lists programs and services that suggest robust supports. Yet, in practice, these supports are inconsistent, difficult to access, or simply unavailable when needed. Youth are… sometimes discharged quickly to homes they don’t feel safe returning to so that they can free up beds rather than ensure safety or stability. The shelter provides very limited support for homeless youth given the high need in the area. While the mission is important, the reality falls short, and improvements in staff training, program accessibility, and safe discharge practices are urgently needed.

Do not send your children here please. From experience, there’s lots of verbal abuse and labor they have us doing which involves in punishments if not done. They don’t care at all about mental health and just feed you… on meds.

While NYC mayor Adams was busy defrauding New Yorkers, here we have a prime example of potential child trafficking. There are few things that could be more important than an official tracking down every single one of… the children who came through this place and ensuring their safety and well being. I hope all of you New York democrats are happy because this is what thrives under your policy. Make no mistake people just look at the demeanor of the workers when they are asked simple harmless questions. You will all get what's coming to you.

Absolutely horribly managed. Children and staff are great but administrators are running the place into the ground

★☆☆☆☆

Did I just tap on to a star? It's beyond me how a worker can adopt your child. I was a victim of abuse and instead of becoming a productive person in my life to bring my child and I back together, they took my son. A… worker did, from children's village. I had literally no one to give me advice, to help mentally, or give me counsel. My lawyer even told me I would be selfish to try and have him in my life. every time I went to court my court date would be adjourned. Then when I was about to finish parenting classes they told me I would just confuse him. Now who is confused? I know Matthew doesn't know I tried to see him a few times, this being the fourth since he was a baby, but the foster(adoptive) mom (just found out he was adopted) never planned for me to see Matty again. I love you Matty 😙 I have albums of letters I've written to you! Susan pecos, what more do I have to do to see Matty?
