About Summit Achievement – Stow
Summit Achievement is a privately owned for-profit program in rural western Maine that runs an accredited school alongside licensed residential treatment for teenagers aged 13 to 19. Nichol Ernst, who holds LCSW and LADC credentials, is owner, chief executive and clinical director, and Anson McNulty is owner and executive director, while Philip Browne, a family nurse practitioner, serves as medical director.
The program works in two phases, Venture and then Traverse, and treats depression, anxiety, ADHD, executive-functioning difficulties and Level 1 autism, along with technology and social media overuse. Substance experimentation or misuse is addressed as a secondary issue rather than as a treatment program in its own right, and a teenager whose substance dependence is likely to cause acute withdrawal is not admitted here.
That boundary is worth reading twice: a parent looking for drug or alcohol treatment for a son or daughter should call somewhere else. Admission is also closed to young people who are actively suicidal, psychotic, severely depressed or manic, or whose eating disorder is not in remission, so the opening conversation needs a frank account of the current picture. The campus sits on Deer Hill Road in Stow, Oxford County.

Treatment Services at Summit Achievement
Care is long-term residential and arrives in two stages rather than one block. Venture, the opening phase, runs six to ten weeks, an average of 56 to 70 days, and is built around nature-based and adventure work in the Maine woods. Traverse follows for two to six months, shifting the weight of the day toward academic and transition work, so a family is committing to months rather than weeks.
Activity therapy and experiential therapy carry most of the clinical hours, and the accredited on-site school runs in parallel so a student is not surrendering an academic year to get treatment. Clinical direction and medical oversight sit with named staff, Nichol Ernst on the clinical side and Philip Browne as medical director, rather than with unnamed visiting contractors, which is a fair question to ask of any teen residential program.
Admissions opens with an inquiry, after which the team completes assessments and family interviews before the family applies through an online portal and agrees an arrival day. Shannon Palentchar directs admissions and that conversation runs on (207) 208-8110, a separate line from the main office. Ask at that point which phase a student would enter, because both the daily rate and the enrollment fee differ between Venture and Traverse.

Summit Achievement Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 69 Deer Hill Road, Stow, Maine 04037, in Oxford County near the New Hampshire line, and the setting is genuinely rural rather than a quiet suburb, which is central to how the nature-based phase works. Auburn lies 39 miles east and Lewiston 40 miles east, so the nearest sizeable towns are the better part of an hour away for a visiting family.
Two numbers serve different purposes: the office answers on (207) 697-2020, while admissions inquiries go to (207) 208-8110, and a family mid-application is better served by the second. No visiting schedule or office hours are published for the Stow campus, so ask when the arrival day is agreed how family interviews, visits and the transition between phases are scheduled around travel from out of state.

How Much Does Treatment at Summit Achievement Cost?
Summit publishes its rates, which is unusual enough to be worth saying plainly, and it means a family can plan rather than guess. Venture is billed to insurance at $2,200 per day, with an out-of-pocket rate of $865 per day for families paying directly, plus a nonrefundable enrollment fee of $5,000 that insurance does not cover. The first 14 days are payable at enrollment.
Traverse is billed to insurance at $1,850 per day, carries an out-of-pocket rate of $755 per day, and brings a $4,000 enrollment fee where a student enters that phase directly. Billing runs through Bridgeway Billing, an outside billing and advocacy firm, and families sign an agreement with both Bridgeway and Summit under which the out-of-pocket rate applies if a plan denies coverage or pays less than the daily rate.
Private insurance and self-pay are both accepted, though no carriers are named and Medicaid appears nowhere in the published terms, so a family depending on it should settle that question before anything else. Scholarships from Summit, grants from the Sky’s the Limit Fund and the Adam Tsapis Memorial Fund can bring the figure down. As statewide context only, private-pay residential care in Maine runs $6,000 to $25,000 per month.

Summit Achievement Reviews
Summit Achievement is licensed as a residential treatment center by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services through its Division of Licensing and Certification, and it bills under NPI 1497917371. No license number is published on its own pages, so a family that wants it in writing should ask admissions directly. School accreditation through NEASC is stated by the program, as is a COPAA association.
The details on this page are drawn from state licensing and federal provider records together with the program’s own published material on phases, fees and admission criteria. Where something is unpublished, this listing says so rather than filling the gap. RehabSeekers hosts reviews from families and former students, and none has been left for Summit Achievement yet, so a first-hand account here would be genuinely useful to the next parent reading.
