UPMC Chautauqua at WCA – Jamestown Detox and Rehab Services

UPMC Chautauqua at WCA – Jamestown is recorded as offering residential treatment and sober living. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.

I was extremely happy with the care and service my mom received at UPMC’s ACS Ambulatory Surgery Center in Jamestown, NY. When I went up to the front desk to check on my mom, I was feeling overwhelmed and had tears in… my eyes. The receptionist, who I believe was named Victoria, immediately noticed and offered me kindness and support. Her compassion and understanding helped me through a very emotional moment. I felt extremely respected and cared for—not only as a family member, but also in the way my mom was treated. Her kindness truly helped put me at ease during a stressful time. If you or a loved one ever needs surgery, I highly recommend the wonderful staff at UPMC’s ACS Ambulatory Surgery Center. And if I have her name correct, a special thank-you to Victoria at the front desk. ❤️

I have a serious medical condition and spend a lot of time at UPMC in Erie, but was in Jamestown yesterday and had to go to the ER. I just wanted to say going in I was nervous because I haven't heard the best things… about this hospital, but I just wanted to say the doctor who was there yesterday around 3 was absolutely wonderful. He was so caring and listened to everything I said and was so understanding. They helped me with my pain flare up and ran all the necessary tests to make sure my condition was not worsening. Everyone was so very kind and I would definitely go here again in the future if I had any other issues! Thank you everyone who took such great care of me yesterday.

Firstly, short staff in Mondays are terrible to expect anything from any doctors office. It’s understandable. But this office worker Corey was so rude. I’ve always had good experiences there, so maybe this was an off… day for him to be rude to a patient. I was in the middle of explaining why I was calling about a referral that never reached another doctors office for the second time. I was calmly telling him and he interrupted me abruptly and asked for my birthdate. I continued finishing my sentence and he abruptly wasn’t going to have it. I even told him he was being rude and I’m sorry if he was having a bad day. He told me that he was going to end the call and that would be that, right? Wow! I just went and gave him the birthdate. Then the correct fax number for the third time to send over the referral. He went ahead and made the appointment for the middle of next month without even asking me. I’ll be in Florida so there’s that it’s not gonna work. Why not just send the referral to the office so I can make my own appointment, which I did. I also made an appointment to see my new primary care practitioner. I love Dr Hayes. He’s so smart. I think I’m at the end of the road where he can’t really help me any longer. It feels like he’s under such pressure in a rush and he seems to be annoyed nowadays in general. The office is not being run well you can tell. The doctors have more patients than they do have time. not my problem anymore.

I'll be honest. I went here looking for medical transport to a larger medical facility like Buffalo for a unique problem I was having. As much as they were willing to do so, Buffalo was not accepting transfers, so they… admitted me. I was there for a couple days until they found a great solution to my problem. The nurses were amazing. I will continue to return to this lovely hospital for every and all problems I have in the future. 5/5

I would leave one star but I don’t want my review deleted. Although a long review, please take the time to read. My mom has cancer, & one day she was feeling really bad so we went to this ER. They COULD NOT get her IV… in. One nurse poked her twice, said she’s going to get a friend, and her “friend” was HORRIBLE. she poked my mom in her wrist for an IV, and I watched her SWERVE the needle side to side. My mom was screaming in pain. My mom is a hard stick, but we have never encountered anything like this before. While she was swerving the needle side to side, the other nurse is tapping her other arm & looking for a vein. My mom started to get overstimulated, because she is being poked from both sides and they keep telling her to calm down, while surrounding her and also having casual conversation in between. The nurse who swerved the needle side to side has red hair, & her name was Jennifer. I will never forget seeing my mom scream in pain due to these incompetent nurses. I told Jennifer “she’s overstimulated, one at a time” & when I said that she seemed annoyed & yanked the needle from my mom’s wrist and left the room. The other nurse said she’s going to get the head nurse. We waited and head nurse Holly came in. She did an ultrasound for a vein, and ultimately ended up using my moms other arm (the one that Jennifer hurt badly). She did an ultrasound on her right arm because my mom refused to have her left arm touched, because of the pain. I told her I’m here & she’s head nurse, she should be able to find a vein. When she tried her left arm she was successful. Holly did a wonderful job, and we are thankful for her continued patience & kindness. Although Holly was very helpful this doesn’t take away from the fact the nurses had no idea what they were doing. She was poked 6 times before they called for Holly, which I find UNACCEPTABLE. Very traumatic experience. Recently she had an appointment at this hospital for an MRI. We went thru the process & everything was fine. Her appointment was at 3:15. About 30-40 mins later after the MRI is done, the tech tells us that the doctor will review her results with her in the ER, that we wouldn’t have to wait a room will be ready. That was a lie, as we went to the waiting for about 30 mins. We get a triage nurse to ask her weight why she’s here etc, & we were put back in the waiting room. Waited another 30 mins so total we were waiting an hour, if not more, just to talk to a doctor about her results. I ended up looking through the hospital portal for her results and I found out basically what it meant, before we were able to speak to a doc. We finally get a room and we’re waiting for 30 minutes before a doctor comes in all for him to say she can go home, & to talk to her oncology team in Buffalo on Monday, they should set her up with a neurologist as they don’t seem to have one at UPMC. I don’t recall what my mom asked, but he said he wasn’t sure and he was going to speak to the radiologist. He said quote “I’ll be right back.” He was not right back. About 40 minutes pass nothing. At this point it’s past 6pm. I hit the call button for a nurse, assuming it slipped his mind to be back with the info from radiology. Over 30 mins before a nurse shows up for the call light. When a nurse shows up, I tell him the doc said he would be right back but he also told us we were able to leave. He was very kind and we were out of there no longer than 10 mins later. He took her IV out (MRI team had no issues putting in her IV, thank you nurse John) and we left. If you have an emergency, & you get admitted to this hospital, & you get a nurse named Jennifer with red hair, I would request a different one. I have NEVER through my mom’s cancer journey (I go with her to all appointments) seen a nurse swerve a needle side to side for an IV. My mom doesn’t like the idea of being admitted to this hospital for anything and I don’t blame her, I wouldn’t want to be admitted myself. It seems as though the issue lies with the ER department

The icu team is great, My husband who is supposed to be going home with hospice got moved to the 5th floor, he has wounds on his bottom, they left him in his feces for three hours after being called several times and… talked to 5 different aids nurses, they only came to clean him up because of him having to go somewhere else to get a procedure. They have a dialysis port in his grind , but aren’t doing it anymore because he’s waiting on hospice. They are just letting him lay there. If he’s in the hospital he should still be seeing doctors and getting care, until he’s actually able to go home on hospice. The one lady came in to tell me this is why it’s important to be insured, we have been trying. The dr said they didn’t think about it when they sent him across state, that’s where his kidney dr said to go!!!!!!! The drs all just recommended hospice and are leaving him lay there doing nothing else

My boyfriend and I were taking a trip two hours from home, when he had a very scary emergency and he had to be brought here. We were here for 2 nights, 3 days. The staff has been exceptionally helpful, so polite, and… very understanding of his condition. Mady, Reza, Desiree, Habibah, Barbara, and Chelsea were all amazing. We had interacted with many more, but those are the only names I can remember. They were all very thorough, explained what they were doing as they were doing, and answered our many questions. It was a breath of fresh air to interact with such great hospital staff. Anyone who works here and is reading this, we appreciate you!! Thank you for helping my boyfriend feel better. You are all heroes!!

My girlfriend has an ectopic pregnancy, lost a fallopian tube and didn't get stitched up properly by incompetent doctors. We've been there 4 times now, they have no idea what they're doing. They're rude, on top of being… incompetent. They will blame you for their actions and stupidity, they told my girlfriend because she is a bigger woman that the complications of THEIR incompetentcy is her fault. When does an obgyn do surgery? That doesn't make sense, her doctor admitted he didn't know what he was doing and left. She almost died because of their incompetency and blames her for everything. I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior, their negligence and appalled they are this bad. The nurses are always on their phones when I was there at the receptionist desk, they talk in different languages so you don't understand what they're saying. There's only a few good people who work there. It took them forever to see us once we got in. Her incision is all the way to her guts pretty much and got infected due to a doctor who didn't know what he was DOING!! I would not come here because they could care less. They kept telling her she is fine and nothing is wrong and it's normal for her incision from her naval to her private area is normal being as wide as it was.

I've never been more disgusted with a hospital than I am with UPMC Chautauqua. My husband passed here last month and the lack of empathy and experience is appalling! What was reffered to as "comfort care" is nothing… more than a holding hell hole where they overdose you on pain meds when no pain was involved. I filed 5 complaints, 2 with the hospital and 3 with the state only to be completely ignored. I have photos of the lack of care and neglect and not one of them cared to look at them.. I'd think twice before taking a loved one to this place.

I spent 6+hours at the emergency room on 10/16/2025. I was sent there by the V.A. to have a Doppler done on my leg to see if there was a blood clot causing the fatigue in my leg. When I got there it was very busy so I… understand my wait would be long. However after it slowed down about 10:00 p.m. I figured I would be seen soon. Still not seen by 1:00A.M. and being told you’re going to be next for the 4th time, I left.

The Staff that was there on the 8th when I lost my husband was absolutely amazing. I will forever be greatful that they didnt give up on him. I know it has to hurt them also to lose a patient. I will forever see them as… Angels. I thank them for what they did and trying to save his life. I know its their job but they also are humans that have feelings too and I know it hurt them. Thank your doctors and nurses and hospital staff. A kind word to them helps them keep going and fighting for each patient.
