About Centro de Respostas Integradas de Braga

Centro de Respostas Integradas de Braga is the public outpatient addiction service for Braga district, run by ICAD, I.P. within the SNS and based in Azurém, Guimarães. The service assesses and treats drug, alcohol and other dependencies, runs prevention work and supports reintegration, and care is free to the user. No stay is involved; treatment is outpatient only.

Two structures share the Rua Dr. Joaquim de Meira address: the CRI’s coordination office, led by coordinator Maria João Rafael Santos, and the Polo de Guimarães, the treatment team that sees individuals from Guimarães and the surrounding municipalities. The catchment covers fifteen municipalities, among them Braga, Barcelos, Esposende, Fafe, Vila Nova de Famalicão, Vila Verde and Vizela. A youth consultation run by the CRI operates off-site in Guimarães and Braga on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Contact is by phone or email to ask for an appointment.

Centro de Respostas Integradas de Braga provides outpatient assessment and treatment for addictive behaviours and dependencies, including illicit drugs and alcohol, through its treatment team in Guimarães, together with prevention and reintegration work across Braga district. Specific therapies and medications are not described publicly, so ask the team what the treatment plan involves.

Adolescents and young adults are seen through a separate youth consultation, the CAJ de Guimarães, held at a university office on Avenida Dom João IV in Guimarães, and a second youth consultation at the municipal health office in Braga’s Centro Comercial Santa Tecla, both on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 14:00 to 18:00. Services are delivered in Portuguese. Where more intensive care is needed, public treatment teams of this kind refer onward to detox units and therapeutic communities within the national network.
