Centro de Respostas Integradas de Viana do Castelo is the public outpatient addiction service for the ten municipalities of Viana do Castelo district, run by ICAD, I.P. within the SNS. Coordinator Augusto Martins leads the CRI, whose catchment covers Caminha, Paredes de Coura, Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca, Melgaço, Monção, Viana do Castelo, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Valença and Arcos de Valdevez. Prevention and reintegration teams work alongside the treatment team, and a youth consultation, ‘Ponto de Encontro’, runs on Mondays at the polytechnic’s health and well-being office on Avenida do Atlântico. Anyone can phone to ask for an appointment; the municipality of Monção also refers individuals living there and provides free transport to Viana do Castelo under an agreement with the CRI.

Centro de Respostas Integradas de Viana do Castelo Alcohol and Drug Services
Centro de Respostas Integradas de Viana do Castelo provides outpatient assessment and follow-up consultations for individuals with addictive pathology, covering illicit drugs, alcohol and other dependencies, plus prevention programmes and reintegration support across the district. Where withdrawal needs medical supervision, the team refers onward to the Unidade de Desabituação do Norte, the public detox unit for the region.
The CRI’s prevention team delivers the ‘Riscos e Desafios’ training programme, and its psychologists take part in youth events across the district. Young people are seen at the ‘Ponto de Encontro’ consultation at the IPVC Gabinete de Saúde e Bem-Estar, ESTG, Avenida do Atlântico 644, on Mondays from 09:00 to 17:00. Specific therapies and medications are not described publicly; services are in Portuguese, and the unit holds a health-regulator licence as a drug-dependence recovery centre.
