Comunidade Terapêutica Sol Nascente – Palmela

Comunidade Terapêutica Sol Nascente is a residential therapeutic community at Terrim, Pinhal Novo, in the municipality of Palmela, Setúbal district, run by the non-profit Associação Sol Nascente, an IPSS registered in 1996. Licensed by the Ministry of Health and contracted through ICAD, the community has 31 beds, 25 of them State-contracted, for treating drug and alcohol dependence.

The association’s stated purpose is the treatment and social reintegration of individuals with addiction problems, and the contracted places include 9 for alcohol dependence and 2 for long-stay treatment. A distinctive feature is the pre-reintegration phase, in which residents take part in paid occupational work under a protocol with Setúbal municipal council, carrying out forest fuel management accompanied by monitors so that they build habits and skills for the labour market before leaving, with part of the income set aside as a reintegration reserve.
