My experience with Dr. Iype and CMHCM has been nothing short of appalling. This facility operates not as a place of healing but as a system designed to suppress, control, and silence patients while disregarding their… well-being. For years, Dr. Iype repeatedly ignored my requests to reduce or discontinue my medication, refusing to acknowledge the severe, physiological, and psychological harm. Rather than engaging in an open discussion about my concerns, she shut me down, dismissed my input, and exercised absolute authority over my treatment. When I challenged her treatment decisions, her response was, “We can agree to disagree,” as if my suffering was just an opinion she could disregard. In another instance, she didn’t even allow me to respond, cutting me off with, “I’ll take that as a no,” before I could say a single word. Our consultation was not a doctor-patient relationship—it was a dictatorship in a white coat. Dr. Iype’s medical incompetence is only one part of a much larger problem at CMHCM. CMHCM thrives on power and control; their motive is submission and forced compliance. Every interaction I had with CMHCM staff made it abundantly clear that they are more interested in maintaining authority over patients than in actually helping them. Case worker Nathaniel Schafer manipulated conversations by repeatedly using coercive, leading, and loaded questions to push his own narrative, ignoring my responses and attempting to gaslight me into agreeing with CMHCM’s agenda. He constantly inquired, “Do you have any other addictions?” and “Is the medication doing everything it needs to do?” I requested a briefing before further interactions to deliberate my responses for documented accuracy, and CMHCM’s Sara Miceli stated,” We are providing this out of courtesy.” Nurse Sarah suggested administering her initial injection in an unsafe location, outright admitting, “It isn’t recommended.” Nurse Margaret had a history of multiple complaints for unsafe injection practices—yet CMHCM knowingly allowed her to continue administering medication improperly. This facility is full of staff who actively obstruct grievances, ignore patient concerns, and prioritize their own interests over patient safety, including Katie Hohner from the Office of Recipient Rights. CMHCM is a machine designed to strip patients of their autonomy, deny them fundamental rights, and keep them trapped in a cycle of forced treatment. During our final consultation, Psychiatrist Anita Iype stated, "This conversation is being recorded," before proceeding to reinstate a harmful medication with documented adverse effects. I briefly left the room after her announcement. CMHCM staff would not allow me to resume the consultation. Psychiatrist Anita Iype then ordered an involuntary hospitalization. Fortunately, I have everything documented. Thus, I am no longer a victim under CMHCM's control; in fact, the tables have turned.
This place is a joke from what I remember 18 years ago. My therapist would do work while we talked and my physiatrist would put me on an anti-psychotic medication for social anxiety and answer the phone for his daughter… during our appointments. This is government run facility hence the pathetic mess. NEVER GO HERE!! unless your mental distress is super minimal.
They strung me along for three months without helping me in the slightest when I was in desperate need. I had a treatment plan from bay city McLaren stating I needed to see a psychiatrist and a therapist. They had me… meet for 15 minutes every week or two to fill out paperwork for three months without getting me any help until I had no choice but to look elsewhere.
Excellent environment!! Everyone is quite friendly and helpful. Dr Lyons is great as well as the nurses and counselors.
