How Much Does Treatment at Hospital CUF Sintra Cost?

Hospital CUF Sintra is a private, self-pay hospital, so no public health system route applies here. Because it does not run a dedicated addiction programme, no like-for-like cost figure applies; as general context only, private outpatient mental health consultations in the Lisbon area typically fall around €700–€2,300 (£600–£2,000) a month.

Contact the hospital directly for a firm quote on its psychiatry or psychology consultations, and ask whether it can refer you on for detoxification or residential addiction care if that’s what’s needed.

Terrible! We had an ultrasound scheduled 2 hours before, and they canceled it. They gave a reason: the doctor didn't come. A complete lack of respect! They reschedule appointments without consulting people or… considering the patient's needs. Without a doubt, one of the worst, we do not recommend them and we will not return!

The worst CUF (a private healthcare provider) I've ever been to. I scheduled a colonoscopy with endoscopy and anesthesia, and it took them more than 45 days to send the cost of the exam. Even after calling, they acted… as if we were asking for a favor, not paying. I'm undergoing bowel treatment with Dr. Joana Veloso, and I had to discontinue it because the staff are extremely incompetent and ignorant. That being said, avoid this CUF. Thank you!

Every consultation here is a 50 euros worth useless small talk. Also doctors are not punctual, but when you're late - no, you can't, visit us next time. They can give you a screenshot instead of prescriptions

The doctor who treated me was kind. I went early in the morning on purpose, thinking there wouldn't be any waiting patients, but I ended up waiting for two hours. There was very little information provided by the front… desk. If I had known I would have to wait this long, I wouldn't have gone. Also, the front desk staff wrote my name incorrectly even while looking at my passport, and they wrote down the address incorrectly even after I asked them to confirm it several times.

It's worth it for the friendly staff, but otherwise the waiting times are long, it already feels like a health center, and since they partnered with Cartão Modelo and the CUF health plan, it's gotten even worse. I'll… opt for Luz or Lusíadas.

Terrible time management. I don't understand the point of scheduling appointments/exams if we then wait for more than an hour to be called... it would be better not to schedule them at all! And the doctors calmly walk… past, running late, while patients have been sitting uncomfortably and sickly for an hour waiting for them to remember to call them...

I do not recommend this hospital. We called to schedule an exam and they scheduled another one. When we arrived at the unit, they were supposed to be nice and let us have the exam 😳 when the error is the hospital's… fault for not making the appointments correctly. This doesn't even happen in the public health system.

Lady at reception and the doctors spoke fluent English. Waiting time was more than 120 minutes, if we knew maybe we would have skipped visiting, but the doctor was very nice and friendly. He tried to make us feel… comfortable being tourist there. At the end we used the Taxi service to get back to Sintra old town, it was fast and cheap. The waiting room has vending machines for coffee and snacks. Given the fact we had no lunch or food, we appreciated the opportunity. It ended up being very expensive.

I went to the emergency department on September 20 with a throat infection, fever, and ringing in my ear. Although I was already feeling very sick, I waited almost three hours in a freezing waiting room because of the… air conditioning, which made me feel even worse. When I finally saw the doctor, the examination was very disappointing. The doctor checked my throat with a phone flashlight, did not listen to my lungs, and offered nothing to relieve my throat pain. I was prescribed only antibiotics and ear drops. For a private hospital where patients pay for the service, I expected much better. Waiting three hours for such a poor examination is unacceptable. I am very disappointed.

I was admitted with a hip fracture last week at 11:57 PM. There were no problems, the nurses were already waiting for me. The welcome was almost like family. The nurses took care of me with great dedication. The next… day, I had surgery. The service was perfect! The food was great! My stay felt more like a hotel stay than a hospital stay. 5 stars
