How Much Does Treatment at Lives Lived Well – Mirikai Cost?
Mirikai publishes its own fees, and no Australian country range exists for residential care. Self-funded residents pay A$2,270 for a six-week cycle; people receiving a Centrelink payment contribute a portion of that payment instead, and an upfront admission payment of A$690 applies at age 21 and under, or A$740 at 22 and over. These are subsidised, benefit-linked contributions rather than private rates, and publicly funded places may be open to eligible residents by referral.
Ask the intake team to set out the whole cost before a place is confirmed: what the cycle fee covers, how the Centrelink portion is worked out, and what a stay beyond six weeks would add.

Lives Lived Well – Mirikai Reviews
Mirikai is listed on Google under the Lives Lived Well name at Burleigh Heads, where a few dozen reviews have built up. They are mixed but generally positive, several written by former residents about the staff and the daily structure, and the organisation replies to them. Read a range before drawing conclusions.
What matters more is the shape of the programme itself: who delivers the counselling, how the residential stay is structured, and what happens next. Asking how the team supports people in the weeks after they leave will tell you more than any score.
If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely waste of time and money. Staff are patronising and unhelpful. They will say they are supporting you, and then put you in the most unsupportive position. Completely failure… of a rehab. Zero stars.
Treats u like prison inmates, kicks out pretty much everyone going through a tough time, dirty facilities with no cleaners. Mould everywhere. Kitchen ran by a nasty old women who doesn’t do any cooking, just directs the… patients (or inmates) what to cook. Should have been much lower in price considering most of the food they get is close to expiry donations from Cole’s and Woolworths, and no facility management. To top it off there is only 1 worker at night to manage up to 30 odd people, with max usually 3 staff on site during the day time. Very run down place that tries to force god and Jesus down your throat subtly through there AA and NA meetings (forcing patients to look to a “higher power” to be sober
I can not speak highly enough of this place. I came in with chronic alcohol addiction and Danielle created such a safe space in order for me to find my own way. I can’t thank you enough for all of your support. She took… the time and effort in order to understand where I was at and what I needed. I now have my life back. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I've been left with no other options just because I am a smoker and the person on the phone was quite absent with little empathy and I've been given alternative numbers yet she didn't even add the area code to help me… ring them I'm left with no options now soooo thanks lives lived well😒 not much help here
Mirikai, saved my life once before. The treatment only works if you put everything into it! They will help you. But you have to help yourself first! To the team at LivesLivedWell, I would like to say thank you. But I’d… also like to come back. Who can I talk too?!
Mirikai’s staff care deeply about its’ residents but at the end of the day, the residents have to take responsibility for their past - those that complain probably couldn’t be bothered to contribute. Whilst a very… solemn and upsetting place in life, Mirikai genuinely made me engage with others and interact - I don’t know if I could have be more grateful. To the three main advisers, thank you, otherwise also thank you- it it is never a solo effort.
Saved my life
Didn’t tell me what I needed to know when I needed to know it (told me required info late) and ended up costing me money to get a police check just for them to turn around and say I’m not welcome.
I would have rated this place higher. Most of staff I dealt with were great except for the floor manager/housekeeper, but was sometimes given duties of a treatment facilitator. This person is unqualified, inexperienced… in dealing with addicts and lazy. I had belongings stored in the secure locker room and I understand they threw it out. Then she stuffed me around telling me to ask another staff member. And even hung up on me when I called about my belongings. I believe the housekeeper was also biased towards me. It’s disappointing they replaced my original treatment facilitator with that floor manager/housekeeper. The treatment facilitator was qualified and had many years of experience dealing with addicts. They show favouritism to certain returning residents. I had a trainee psychologist whose services I would not use again even if it was free. She worked against me and was unhelpful but had the audacity to tell me she was on my side, when I told her about an issue with my roommate. On a positive note I would like to thank Trent for taking the time to talk to me. And Danny the more competent psychologist who has moved on to private practice.
This place, changed my whole world. I went in for 4 weeks of treatment. I never would be here today if it weren’t for the Team @ Mirikai. Thank you for Saving me from myself!
This is a wonderful centre. An incredibly valuable place. The centre is set up in a fantastic way. The staff are very knowledgeable and responsive.
Worst experience of my life do not go there i repeat do not not go there!!!!!
After almost 20years of substance abuse I came to a surrender and Mirikai was there to offer help Beautiful facility in a wonderful location During my stay here there was always plenty of time to kick back and relax, I… always had time to enjoy a cup of coffee surrounded by the exotic garden, have a swim in the pool, watch tv with the fellow residents or train in the gym. There are plenty of experienced staff here so if you are thinking of participating in your own recovery journey here, I guarantee you will learn skills and knowledge that will point you in the right path to a life of your wildest dreams. >I did three treatments in here from 2022 to the end of 2023 and I am currently at 18months clean and sober. < …It wasn’t all sunshine and daisies, I had my dealings with the loss of loved ones and grief (which Ron really gave me needed empathy and tips on dealing with) Mirikai was very lenient with the fact that myself and the other residents have a tendency to break rules and be a little bit naughty… as long as you treat others with respect; that are as much in your care as the staff, you will get a good run in treatment here and in the halfway program.
THE BEST OF THE BEST If you are suffering from addiction and are thinking of going to a rehab I would 100% recommend going to Mirikai you will not be disappointed! I wouldn’t have got where I am now without all the… support from the staff at Mirikai! I’m 8 months clean and I never thought possible I could ever get this far. Staff are amazing, this place is absolutely amazing! I’ve been other places but it just never worked out! Thank you so much jimmy, London, Amanda, Trent and Anoushka for supporting me throughout my time there will never forget it. 💖
Mirikai gave me a sense of safety and hope when I felt so very lost in my life. Thankyou to the staff and program for helping me to have the opportunity to press reset on my life. 🙏
I was full of hope when my daughter went into Mirikai. Unfortunately they are not skilled to deal with the complexities of dual diagnosis which caused immense stress on my daughter and her health deteriorated quickly… while in their care. I have spent time discussing my concerns with the team leader and I was promised that a portion of the $650 which was an upfront payment would be reimbursed- unfortunately that never happened even after several attempts of communicating with the team. Based on my experience I would those wanting to access this service ensure they read the fine print regarding monies paid to this service. I would also suggest that the staff be open and truthful with family members regarding any monies paid to the service to ease any further stress. I understand they get participants to sign a contract advising any money is unrefundable - I am yet to be provided with a copy of this contract (which both my daughter and I have requested).
Keep well away from Mirikai! They are full of promises and no action! People have died because of their poor service and it keeps happening….
I am a 31 year old male who has been abusing substances for 12 years I've reached out to lives lived well for help to pay $670 after 48 hours for bits of toast and two meals was kicked out on the street with $20 to live… and survive off for 2 weeks I'm homeless as I moved out of my residence prior to going in there thinking they were dedicated to their program so please anybody that is considering this rehab look elsewhere I find their service criminal by putting people's lives at risk there has been a number of suicides due to the same circumstances I am lucky that I am strong minded and has survived
Good facility in theory however government employees are very obviously lazy. Example; they hold staff meetings where no one is available to give much needed medication when other staff should be available.
A mental health ward is better than this place
The staff are absolutely wonderful at Mirikai I cant thank them enough. Carla is one of the most supportive psychologists I’ve had and when I wasn’t well she gave me weekly sessions and even helped in between sessions… if I needed which happened a few times. I’m not an easy client to treat I have complex ptsd, bpd and bipolar but Carla knew what treatments to do and it really helped. Trent is also wonderful and even if he was busy he would make time and take me aside and have a talk and he did that multiple times during my stay. Even though Trent is not a psychologist and one of the support workers inside mirikai he is extremely gifted at grounding me when I was having flashbacks and any other emotional issues I was having during my stay when the psychologists weren’t available. I can’t fault one staff member but those are the two that really impacted me during my stay. The facilities are also pretty good they have a pool, gym, bbq and garden plus walking distance to the beach. The only negative is you share a room but my roomie was sweet so it was good plus you can change roomies if you don’t get along.
Great place, 30yearsclean.!....????::: I. Learnt, many. Things. At that place.... Enjoyed pool,,,,planted. Palms,,,trees....to,, be.....me....I. recommend .it,,greatly!!!!
I am the family of a resident and wish to express my deep gratitude for the amazing support staff and facilities provided. Wish you were bigger and could help more! The family member has grown in strength, self… confidence and sobriety under your care. I understand though that the standard has dropped considerably since a number of staff have recently left, with replacement case managers reported as 'disinterested and slack' compared to the previous? This is such a tragic shame to allow this to occur and have dedicated people in your program now 'at serious risk' due to rules that used to be strict (for the resident's benefit!) now becoming so lax that residents are breaking them left, right and centre with no recourse? They are not respecting others under the same roof who are serious about their recovery, and being constantly 'triggered' by the chaos now allowed to take place? I sincerely hope this will be rectified very quickly for the residents serious about recovery.
