I’m gonna say that I had a really great experience here! I had an appointment in June. Everybody really made me feel welcomed! From the person who took my weight, to the person, who checked me in at the front desk, to… the phlebotomist as well as the doctor. The doctor whom I won’t mention by name had an excellent bedside manner! She was amazingly helpful and seemingly thoughtful and considerate. I had a rough day that day and she listened to me. I am sure all of the doctors are extremely busy, however after I leave the office the level of professionalism should still be upheld. My appointment was in June. Not sure if my follow up appointment was made why I was in the office or after but an appointment was made. I get an email the day before (in August) saying I have an appointment the next day. Strange, I don’t remember making it. I didn’t get the reminder a few days before, I received it the day before. I homeschool my son so I couldn’t make that day. I send the form back asking to reschedule the follow up appointment about my labs. The message wasn’t responded to but I did receive the call by the doctor like a week later saying that she would call me the next day and we could talk about my labs. I was never contacted again. This was over a month ago now. I also sent a message to the doctor about 9 days ago. No response!!! Yet on the Cook County Health message page it says the turnover for a reply is two days. I also called twice to speak to someone. No one ever came to the phone. The professionalism and care went out the window once I let the office. Not the level of professionalism I would expect. I gave you guys a chance and was let down! Not really interested in going forward with care at your facility. It really shouldn’t take this long to be responded to.
This place is not professional and does not care about your health. They will give you the runaround for months before even being treated. You will be pushed around to different doctors/nurses that don’t know what the… last did or said so they make you take the same tests over and over. Forget calling, they will leave you on hold for 45 mins I tried calling back now no one will even answer. No one is ever available to speak, you have to make an appointment two months away to ask a question. On top of all that if you are able to finally get treated a year later good luck with your meds, I can’t even get them to send my prescription to the right place. Terrible…horrible… they may act like they care but nothing is actually getting done.
There is truly Something Special about this place. It almost feels like you’re in a dream that you haven’t awakened from. Bronzeville Health Center / Cook County, takes your Healthcare SERIOUSLY! It’s as if they each… took a Secret Oath.. Treat Everyone with Love, Care, Compassion, Dignity & Respect. And when I say Everyone.. I mean from the Security Guard, The Super Kind Lady Yolanda who signed me in & gave me a little history of their Health Center.. (Happy Anniversary, Bronzeville Health) The other nice lady who sat next to her.. And Lisa.. The Nurse who went over my Medical History & took my Vitals.. my cane fell over when she was preparing to take my BP & she reached down quickly to pick it up for me & cleaned it off thoroughly with their personal cleaning solution.. And my Super Nurse Practitioner.. Ms. Ursula.. She was FANTASTIC.. She comes in with a smile but kinda low key.. but she is taking your Personality Temperature from the moment she enters the room.. how best to speak to you.. best tone & manner.. slower or faster speech. More eye contact or less.. listening intently while going through your information on the Computer.. warm & warmer smiles.. Compassion.. Understanding.. She was just The Best! Shannea.. My Financial Assistance Caseworker who was soo nice, quick & efficient & super thorough.. And Dominique who scheduled my next Appointments that My Super Nurse Practitioner wanted scheduled for me.. And she was not Satisfied until she could officially put them into The Computer. She was an Awesome Perfectionist.. And so down to earth & kind. There was another kind lady that was near her station but I didn’t get her name. I had to go to the restroom and she directed me to where it was & said here just set your things down here & head straight down.. The Bathroom was SOO CLEAN!! OMG!!! The Entire Center was Super Clean. Like it had just opened last week or something. And Everyone was dressed soo nice & were just so presentable. The ladies in the Blood Lab were also kind & funny. I had a plastic glove on the handle of my cane & one of the ladies looked so intently trying to figure out why? Until she couldn’t hold it in any longer & I explained that it fell & the Nurse cleaned it off with their special cleaner & put the glove over it to protect my hand from the chemicals until it dried. If you could have seen her face before my explanation.. She was soo funny.. I laughed about it once I made it back to the car. I realize this Review is quite long but I just needed to provide the Full Experience!! I am home now & part of me still feels like, was it real?? Was Every Single Person I Encountered.. Truly That Kind?? That Looked Like Me?? Sadly, that’s not always the case.. And it usually saddens me so, that we aren’t always kinder to one another. But I have come to the Conclusion that Bronzeville Healthcare Cook County is a Very Special Place.. They All Have Taken a Secret Oath.. To Make Each Patient Feel Special.. Like a V.I.P. What a Concept.. Jesus Said in The Bible.. When you do it unto the least of these.. You Do It Unto Me! Many of us may hit that ole fork in the road where we just need a helping hand but still hope to be treated with kindness & dignity. If That’s What You’re Hoping For in Healthcare.. Then, You MUST Find Your Way To Bronzeville Healthcare Cook County.. Where You’re Not Just a Patient, You’re FAMILY!!! ———Tue. 8-18-26 Part 2: I had my 2nd visit at Bronzeville Cook County Health today with Dr. IM & her Assiting Doctor, Dr. E. I needed Knee Injections in both knees for Osteoarthritis. And boy was I Nervous bcz I was 6 whole months behind from my regular knee Injections Schedule. And the last time I went a long time without them, the PAIN Was SUPER Intense in my worst knee. Dr.IM Assured me that she has being doing this for 28 Years!! And she will do All she can to keep pain & discomfort to a Minimum. I asked Dr. E could I plz hold her hand & she said of course. I took a deep breath & Dr. IM was so gentle. And so was Dr. E. I Soo Trust Dr. IM. She ROCKS! Ms. S. Brooks was Awesome Too!
