When reading, give most weight to concrete detail, such as how quickly an appointment was offered or how family members were kept informed.
I mean it was fine: I don’t love the idea of going if u are under 18, I went when I was 15-16 and it was full of people who were 7-15 years older than me, and I felt really alone. I guess it’s a luck of the draw thing,… because you cannot control how old your patients are or what time they come into treatment. That being said- the treatment portion wasn’t helpful, I was coming from a residential program, and they essentially mimicked that. Groups where you learn nothing, private sessions with therapists/dietitians, (therapist Cara was helpful and I could tell she liked her job, same as one of the dietitians I forgot her name but she has smooth black hair and sometimes glasses.) and meals you almost always make/pick yourself. The food options were pretty horrendous, especially for breakfast and especially considering you can’t really cook anything if you want to. It’s more of like a cereal/yogurt/frozen waffle type deal- that being said, I’m terrified of yogurt, so the 15 girls eating a healthy yogurt breakfast daily really grossed me out and pushed me farther away from recovery. I’m not saying that CFD will help no one, but I think people with children under 18 /are still dependent on them should look into doing family-based therapy instead. It’s a lot better and you don’t have to go to a program, it’s family-based so you are primarily at home with your family who helps you with recovery. I think CFD is good in theory, but not in practice, and it could benefit greatly from a significant re-vamp.
Knowledgeable therapists, dietitian, and staff who understand how complex eating disorders are. They are willing to learn and actually get to know you! The staff are all very passionate about what they do which reflects… in the care they give you. I wouldn’t let the negative reviews stray you away from going here
Sometimes while talking to some of the staff it felt like talking to a wall. Sometimes when I would talk about how they would give me too much food or how I felt uncomfortable they would deny it or tell me that I was… wrong. Sometimes they would even say "I don't care" which kinda hurt me. They were also weren't the best at providing what me and others needed. Kinda like they were more following the "rules" rather then helping. I do say though that the therapist were really nice and helpful.
Cara Cuccinello saved my life. Forever my sewer rat queen🐀👑
Yes this place may have “helped” save my life. HOWEVER the staffing really doesn’t care about their patients unless it becomes a risk of hurting the company image and being a liability. Especially if you are 18 or older… they could care less about what you do and how you keep yourself safe. I got told multiple times, “you’re an adult, i can’t stop you or make you do anything” Tbis is really hurtful to hear bc all we want is to be careful for and they blaintenly tell you after hours they dont care what we do on our free time, even if those things are harmful and concerning. Even during program they would say if we (adults) tried to run away they wouldn’t follow us or try to stop it, we’re adults. Like really? The staffing does the absolute bare minimum and what is in the guidelines to keep us safe, however there is no care or feeling of safety within those walls. Staff members quit left and right leaving me to bounce between so many different providers there and not feel a genuine comfortablity to anyone bc it never lasted long. I understand this is their job and not their life, but them helping us is our whole life, I’m not coming here to make anyone scared but I want my experience to be heard so they can do better for others in the future. Also i’m gonna be petty, but seriously like i wish i could have spoke up about this in person bc i truly can’t believe the disrespect I felt there, im alive and thankful, but honestly they didn’t really help me with anything it was my support system around me in my life that truly cared about, which is funny bc these people are getting paid to be comforting and care and i felt none of that especially when providers kept leaving me at my lowest.
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. my daughter just completed 4 months there and I can say her experience was not only pleasant but successful as well. they treated my daughter with respect and never said… anything negative to her. if I thought for one minute that they were not doing anything to help her or if anything dodgy was going on I would have pulled her out immediately. the addition of family night was a great idea because it gives the families a chance to see what their loved one does at program. I also liked the fact that they kept all of her doctors in the loop. megan sajel ava jamilla cara and sam all went above and beyond for my daughter and i would highly recommend this program.
I would give this establishment 0 stars if possible. I visited for an interview regarding intake and was berated and humiliated for my weight. I was then redirected to their residential treatment center in Fairfield,… Connecticut because I was "too advanced" for their treatment (that center was no better.) One of the most invalidating experiences of my life. Places like this make people not want to seek treatment. Do NOT go here. I hope the employee who interviewed me is fired.
I went a few years ago and they helped me so much
Warning Warning Warning not a place for a child that you love. I am a health professional for 40 years and have witnessed the immaturity and disorganization that this entity brings . Yes we are at a crisis but there are… other options. Staff is immature very young and inexperienced . Anorexia must be treated by mature EXPERIENCED CARE GIVERS. i FEEL YOUR PAIN. VERY DANGEROUS PLACE.
