About Geelong Withdrawal Unit

Geelong Withdrawal Unit is a 14-bed community-based withdrawal unit at 91-95 Goldsworthy Road, Corio, on Wadawurrung land, run by The Salvation Army. Withdrawal is medically assisted and stays run six to 10 nights, with admission enquiries taken by phone or email.

Alongside the unit, a non-residential service in the Barwon area offers assessments, counselling, outreach aftercare and care coordination, which gives the withdrawal stay somewhere to lead. Admission enquiries go to 0427 299 677 or gwu.intake@salvationarmy.org.au, while statewide admissions are arranged through Victoria’s alcohol and other drug intake line. No opening hours are listed for the unit.

Geelong Withdrawal Unit Alcohol and Drug Services

Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides medically assisted withdrawal across 14 beds, with assessment, outpatient counselling and aftercare available through the linked non-residential service in the Barwon region. A stay is short by design, listed at six to 10 nights, and sits inside a community setting rather than a hospital ward.

Care coordination and outreach follow-up are part of the Barwon non-residential offering, so a client can move from the unit into counselling without starting again elsewhere. The substances treated, medications used during withdrawal, therapies and staffing are not listed for the unit, so ask the intake team what the six to 10 nights involve and what comes next.

How Much Does Treatment at Geelong Withdrawal Unit Cost?

Published prices for Geelong Withdrawal Unit weren’t found, and no fee, subsidy or funding detail appears in the available material for the Corio unit. Costs for a short withdrawal stay vary with how a place is funded, and that detail is not stated for this unit.

As a general marker only, a supported withdrawal episode in Australia typically costs A$3,000 to A$5,000 for a seven to ten day episode, depending on medical complexity and whether a hospital bed is involved, which gives a frame of reference rather than a quote for six to 10 nights at Corio. Geelong Withdrawal Unit Reviews

Reviews of Geelong Withdrawal Unit from around the web are limited, which is typical of short-stay withdrawal units where clients move on within a fortnight. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for this unit, and anyone who has been admitted at Corio is welcome to describe how the stay went.

Useful detail for the next reader includes how long the wait for a bed was, how comfortable the medically assisted withdrawal felt, and whether the handover into Barwon counselling and outreach aftercare actually happened. Accounts from family members who dropped someone off are welcome too.
