Pine Woods Behavioral Health – Griffin Reviews
Accreditation and licensing tell part of the story at Pine Woods Behavioral Health. Reviews from patients and their loved ones tell another part, and the two are shown on this page so they can be read together.
I briefly just read a couple reviews. Several years ago I was taken to this facility upon agreeing to rehab for someone to pick me up from a very abusive situation. The statement made in the review about asking for… information several times and not being answered is the reason I got up and walked out. I was told once I go behind them doors there isn't any leaving until I was told I could. That was the only info given. He refused to tell me anything else about it. Ignored my questioning as he didn't hear me nor care to make me feel safe and had no concern if I needed to be there or not
They were laughing and joking when we walked in for our emergency crisis, knew they couldn’t accept him due to his lack of insurance, then sent him by ambulance to the hospital which only discharged him hours later! If… they can’t run a professional business and get the staff replaced they need to close! They were rude with me the entire time and while I tried to stay calm I made sure they knew laughing in front of someone in a crisis situation was unprofessional!
Brought in against will for despiteful reasons and was treated as if I had mental issues and put in waiting rooms with people that had severe issues. I heard everything these people had going on mentally, one girl was… talking to a nurse in another room about something she did to a dog, I mean absurd and HIPAA violations for sure. The lady at the front desk signed my initials on computer documents I couldn’t even see, another HIPAA violation and very illegal thing to do! I heard people yelling in the back and they said oh they are just watching football, the whole experience was such a traumatizing experience. Staff were rude when asking questions about being there, they didn’t want to be bothered at all, threatening me saying that will make me have to stay. I had no idea of the process (which I asked multiple times) and kept being called to different people not knowing what’s next. They brought a lunch that looked disgusting while I was waiting, didn’t even ask people their likings. The lady said “did you not see the sign out front that said Pinewoods? This is Pinewoods hunny!” I said no I didn’t with the way I was brought in and she said well you will just be hungry and I said I sure will, thanks but I work too hard for that! There is a big guy that sits in the hall way monitoring these people and he thinks he is perfect on his throne with the looks he gives and the attitude. Absolutely rude staff all around at a scary dull place! The staff act as if they need to work in a prison, not with mental patients, I feel bad for admitted patients willingly there or not. Thankfully the doctor saw no fit and released me immediately. Do better Pinewoods!
Some staff here are decent, but others have no business working in mental health. Security would instigate fights with vulnerable patients. A Black female nurse with colorful hair was telling a patient to harm another… patient. Some female staff flirt with patients and spread gossip. This place felt more toxic than therapeutic.
Kyia W A case worker at Pinewood went above and beyond the call of duty to help with a new patient , my friend George . Her efforts secured placement for George in a program that will get him headed in right direction.… Her efforts might of saved his life.
If I could give 0 stars, I would; especially for the case manager named Yasmin. She's a prime example of why not everyone needs to be in social work or health care. I brought a loved one through a court order to try and… get her help. I had concerns I wished to address but was dismissed by Yasmin and given the run around by everyone else.
The lady Tracey … that answers at the front desk, will not allow you to speak. Over talks every time you try and get a syllable out and only hears half of what you’re saying. She will follow up with , “Does that make… sense?” No Tracey, you don’t make sense! You have to listen and be patient with the family checking on their loved ones. I assure you, after a few minutes with this woman, you question if you made the right decision about placing a loved one here. There has to be better options in Griffin. Extremely frustrating!!
Laughable how inconsiderate, incompetent, and invasive the treatment is here. Don’t come here unless you want extra trauma on your plate.
First off I really had good vibes about the place. I brought a very good friend here on July 24 th , she genuinely needed a good place that would of treated her better than what this place offered her. Drug addiction is… a disease. These ppl who work here has no respect for any human facing addiction. I drove 3 hours away to take my friend to rehab because she was ready to change that lifestyle for good. I get her there at 7:30 in the morning to McIntosh to find out she'll need to detox, that's all fine we figured that. So we drive to pine woods and she has to fill out all this paper work and the lady behind the desk is so rude and hateful " are you done with your paper work yet " she says to my friend. After all the paper work was done she takes the drug screen. Remind you she's here on her on free will because she's ready to change. She'll finish detox in a week then go straight to rehab for how ever long. Pine wood takes her and then starts treating her like a prisoner and down right hateful. Saying she can only have so many items of clothing. Blah blah blah. We understand she can't have a cellphone. We drove 3 hours away she gets done here she'll go straight to rehab which was only 15 minutes away. She only had 2 bags of things, they made her cry. The way the man who works there talked to her before I had to go was just so hateful. I left and just before I started my truck up this lady walks out and said she needed my number. I wrote the number on a piece of paper and left. I get home to find out my friend left the detox center at pine wood. Now what the problem was is if the staff would have been trained the proper way on how to talk to ppl with addiction then possibly this place wouldn't have such bad reviews. You took something from this woman that she needed and was ready to change. She'll never trust another place like this ever. Learn how to talk to ppl and if you can't then step down so someone with a better mentality can take over before the doors get shut down from pinewood in Griffen GA.
I am so thankful for the staff at this location. My daughter was in crisis and finally made the decision to see help. She came out revived with a vision and plan for life and how she can cope with her BPD. It’s been a… week since release and she is still on track making better choices.
DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE…. My brother is going thorough a mental crisis & we went to seek help for him. ALL THE STAFF WAS VERY DISMISSIVE & acted like they didn’t give a damn about what was going on. The… director came out and she was very rude and told us they couldn’t help him even though it’s a freakin mental crisis center. She was very unprofessional & looked like she was using substances herself. They need to be shut down or needs new staff. Everyone of them acted like they didn’t want to deal with it. Even though he was having a breakdown in front of them. I even told them he tried to hurt himself and someone else and they completely dismissed it. So again if u have a loved one.. DO NOT BRING THEM HERE FOR ANY HELP, because u will get turned away. They have no passion whatsoever & Yu can tell it’s just a job to them & they are strictly there to collect a paycheck.
This place is horrible the nurses be ready to fight the patients or see a fight very ratchet they will lose your clothes please go somewhere else if you love your family don't send them here needs people who really care… calm and passionate
In March of 2020, I was sent here at my own request to seek help for my mental health. I went voluntarily but then learned that my wife had committed suicide while I was gone. I was distraught and told the staff. My… cats were left alone without food or water for 3 days because they wouldn’t let me leave. When I heard my wife’s voicemail stating that she had swallowed a bunch of prescription medication I thrashed around the office, screaming and crying. A staff member was sitting right there nonchalantly eating a KFC chicken pot pie. I will never forget it. No matter how I pleaded they kept saying that they need to “focus on me”. How can I focus on me if I know my pets are starving? They wanted to keep me for a total of 7 days even when I told them my pets would be dead when I came back. They paid me no mind. The only one who cared was Hope. If it wasn’t for her I don’t know how I would have gotten through my time there. Between the staff there and the Atlanta police department that allowed my wife’s body to lay in our bed decomposing for a day and a half while my animals starved for 3 days….I have never been the same. The callous attitudes toward my desperate pleas were so cruelly ignored. I think they thought I was crazy or lying even though I played the voicemail. My wife is dead, my cats were starving but they survived. The discrimination and stigma that is held about mental health, even by the ones who work in the field, has made my mental health much much worse. It is heartbreaking that people who claim to want to help could not see me as human. I am still scarred from this experience nearly 4 years later.
I would highly recommend don’t listen to the reviews
Horrible I was there and they served us tea one girl said to me it's In the tea I thought she was crazier than I am so I drank it and five mins later it hit me all hands shaking hallucinating the new doctor there is a… moron experimenting on us don't go here I warned u
This place was TERRIBLE,
This place is terrible. Do not send your loved ones here. Some of the staff are disrespectful and rude and bottom line ratchet. I understand working with mental health can be tough, but some of these people working here… should honestly work at a prison based on how they treat the patients and their families. When you try to talk to someone in charge like the director they don’t bother to return calls. This place should be shut down.
would give this place zero stars, don’t abuse your patients.
I will always recommend Pinewoods to anyone, even though I had one bad experience, but overall, I was pleased with my son 15 days stay. The staff are overworked, but to my knowledge they are doing the best they can,… there are one or two spoil apples but they are the minority. I must compliment the Case Manager Mr Prince for his hard work. Lastly, I will not forget to mention the bad experience Two weeks after my son was discharged, he went into a crisis, so I took him back to Pinewoods, I ran into the building with my son, and told the front desk person that my son is in a crisis, meanwhile my car was running so after letting her know the problem, I left and parked my car, as I was about to get out of my car, my phone rang, and the person said, "this is Candace and that I must come back and get my son" because they don't run a DAYCARE, she then hang up the phone. I called back and spoke with nurse Amy, who was very professional, she listened and told me that she will let Candace know, that he was a patient two weeks ago. I don't know if Candace is a NP or a Nurse, but nevertheless her behavior was unacceptable. I don't know who is Ms Candace boss, but whoever is her boss, please disapline her, she is a disgrace to Pinewoods I have never, ever, felt so humiliated, that a professional staff could use such words.. Thank you Nurse Amy for listening and thanks to the staff that made my son stay comfortable. Thanks Mr Prince, you are the best!
I was having a breakdown trying to talk to my daughter and the nurse said i couldn't talk to her, didn't care that I was mentally unstable and told her my daughter is my emotional support and the reason I'm alive. I was… told my suicidal thoughts didn't matter, do it and then hung up on. That nurse told me to kill myself.
I went there for help and this is about the worst place you can be.. even me volunteering to go there I was afraid they were going to keep me for 5-7 days.. the security guard there is completely rude and treats… patients horribly.. all the staff there laugh about with each other but speak to patients like they hate them they are very rude to patients and I did not feel safe there one bit..
They help me a lot 5 star
This place is a complete night mare. To remind yall the staff is very rude horrible experience while my boyfriend is in there..
the staff is mean and nasty and the patients are treated like animals it’s more like a 1930s horror movie. there is no mental health support and there’s not even a doctor! it’s only nurses. that place was a nightmare
Inquiring about a loved one. Receptionist I spoke to was incredibly rude. It's bad enough your loved one is having mental health issues but a staff member who is rude and seemingly suppose to care for the patient… doesn't sit well with me.
This place was great and I mean great as in wonderful. It was not what I was expecting but I really felt at ease here and the food was really healthy and wholesome.
