I'm just thankful for some excellent of out patient care doctor with staff of OVL clinic is so good excellent care of me alot ofmenegent from 2009it to help with my mental health from out of the hospital in 2009 so… amazing how Staten island does not having a too be able to open Saturdays clinics and mental illness issue so that they're all overwhelmed limited services offered and services offered at my listings for mental health clinical on with Staten Island because I really regret for moving from Brooklyn to staten island because I have relapse on my drugs nobody's care if you are a city worker's from park and recreational and that why I was just fire from my jobs from 2004 to schedule an appointment with Staff of northwell clinics for Some treatments and nobody's else's is open Saturdays on Saturday morningt I have know that south beach psychedelic clinic has a budget and they don't do me enough for work and self-schedule appointments with school that I am currently a fill in cleaner jobs available to get some available clinics appointments for Saturday morning again they don't do enough for tryapist and self-schedule appointments and they don't care if you are middle class citizens and I also have working keeping my NYCSSS CLEANER jobs in cleaner jobs with anter problems with my profile and they don't care if you are a city worker's with a profile and they like to leaking it out patient medical files
There is not enough options for mental health system. We are so grateful to have found a place for my grandson South Beach adolescence I cannot say enough about Dr. Pong psychiatrist and Rose therapist they have gone… above and beyond and truly do care as if my grandson was one of their own. They are simply amazing forever grateful . in my opinion, people should appreciate this facility as parents we should be so grateful to have help when we’re feeling hopeless
If I could give no stars I could. They do what they want, when they want, the staff is incompetent and dos not care. They are only there to collect a check. Please do not think any staff that works for this facility is… good or has integrity. They do what’s best for them, not the patient of their family. They course and trick vulnerable people into signing and doing things they shouldn’t
Very bad experience. i put my husband over there. Dr. Dea was taking care of his mental health. i requested her and told about my husband mental health. request to her to keep him for a while . she didnot pay attention… at all. today only because of her i am in trouble. living a life like hell because she lie to me. didnot even pick up my call and neither reply any of email. if something happen to me. she is responsible
Wish I could give it a 0 this hospital is so bad that we have a lawsuit pending in this is not pretty kids in here please it is not safe at all after watching children of darkness I’m traumatized
If I could add negative stars I would. I don't even know where to start. They overmedicate patients so that the majority are drooling, and practically in a coma, their shirts have a lot of their saliva. The doctor never… tells you when they've increased or added a new medication until you notice it in your medicine cup and the majority of medication of generics look the same or have the same color. The water to take a shower takes 20 minutes to get lukewarm water. The food plates are the size to feed a 10 year old and I wouldn't even feed the food to a dog, for example 4 tiny pieces of meat in the beef stew. They force you to attend groups to learn idiotic skills such as watching music videos or meditation videos and meditation I could do on the outside on YouTube. They don't teach basic skills to those who are lower functioning or college classes to advanced functioning people. Some nurses provoke you so you are given even more medication. There are no workout equipment except for a few treadmills and recumbent bikes and are limited to one class a week. We weren't allowed to create email addresses and were locked out of our rooms, the majority of the day. We had very hard smaller than twin size mattresses and less than an inch pillows. You're stay here can vary from several months to 10 or 20 years. The way mentally ill people are treated are treated worse than inmates. Then they release you to community residence's (group homes), or apartment programs. Those facilities can be extremely dirty or have inadequate air conditioning for people on numerous medications that can't tolerate heat well. The whole system for mentally ill people are very misinterpreted, abusive, not understanding, and once released are living with a personal needs allowance (money to do what you want for the month), of less than $250.00, while they take our whole SSI or SSD check. Abusive and unknown to most people. The majority of the population are misinformed which is why you see people homeless or begging in the streets.
Should not be open with 69 suspicious deaths, drugging minors and poor treatment of those with mental health disorders
Great hospital. Highly recommend
They are so wonderful here and I truly feel that treatment was so therapeutic. They have wonderful groups and DBT and make sure your needs are met and accounted for. They were super flexible to grant me time to… celebrate my mom's birthday! Shout out to all especially to Melissa, Rena, and Romesa for their help. Dr. Darly along with Dr. Mehta and Dr Preethi were so amazing. Charge nurse Gitu is amazing and make sure we take our meds to get well. Shout out to Allison, Alyssa, Cris and the most amzazing Mojadas. We can't forget the maintenance crew, along with kitchen staff and mojadas. They deserve a raise. Special shout out to Pete and Albert who went above and beyond to sympathize with us all. Thank you and love you! Mei H. from 4B :)
NYS needs to learn from WillowBrook and its history how to improve , not duplicate! Haven't we learned yet? Punishment without compassion or nurture will never improve the lives of people needing mental healing. It is… counterproductive and South Beach Psychiatric Center is a waste of taxpayers dollars! It is shameful that after many complaints , documentaries showing extreme abuse to the mentally ill NYS still did nothing! South Beach Psychiatric facility should be shut down!! Enough is enough!!
Prison for the innocent
I was here for 8 months (4 months inpatient, 4 months transitional Living residence,) and the units are well kept, the majority of the staff are friendly and love to help (you're always going to have a straggler or 2,)… and the food wasn't half bad. I, like anyone else, wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, but once I accepted that they were actually trying to help me, and I stopped being cynical, my experience was much easier. I recommend this place for sure! 5 stars!
The Oatmeal was Excellent!!😁
The worst experience a human being can have is being in this place.
place is a Morgue.
I can’t believe this place is still open, after watching children of darkness. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN
It was pretty fun and I was here since 10wut my best friend that don’t really care about you that’s the fun fact we were running around the hospital at night and we’re trying to kill ourselves like jump off the roof it… was pretty fun they didn’t really care but I like the medications this taste and sound like candy I would recommend to go there because you can do whatever you want it’s like a free hotel not five stars because they wouldn’t let me smoke❤️😴🍼🐝🪬👑
Was placed here by my step mother when I was 12 for who knows what. But what ever the mental health "diagnoses" may be, the hospital is the last place to go to. You are treated less than human, more like a prison.… Forced to take medications that cause way more harm than anything else. Staff absolutely don't care at all about the individuals. It's just like any other job, you go there to get paid, no one is there because they want to help. The whole system is about making money. Anyone who advocates for this should be ashamed of themselves.
DO NOT GO HERE. They make your mental health worse. I've never in my life witnessed a more irresponsible facility. They don't care about your mental health at all, and hardly ever reach back.
The mini bar was not so good in the room
It’s unfortunate to have a family member with a mental illness. You want your loved one to get help and live a normal life with the help of medication. What’s difficult is to not know what goes on inside the hospital. I… am familiar with South Beach from years ago. It was old and dingy. The staff for the most part was very pleasant. Unfortunately my brother after years of being on his own, is now back in the hospital. Setting up a visit is time consuming. I couldn’t get Jennifer the women in charge of visitation to answer or return a call. I finally was able to setup a drop off, not a visit. Before the drop off of clothes and hygiene products, I inquired about bringing something to eat. I was told I could drop food but anything not finished could not be saved. Understandable, that was the same rule from years ago. My husband dropped the belongs and McDonalds at 11:30am. Jennifer won’t let my brother have his food till 3pm. How miserable is she that she has to deprive someone from eating a hot meal, just because she can. What time is lunch????? To visit a patient you have to be unemployed. Tues and Thursday 1 to 3pm only. Now, I have to pay closer attention to what goes on there. I felt comfortable in the past but, apparently they have a person in charge that goes out of her way to upset the patients. To fully understand why this is so alarming is because the patients have no freedom. They have to ask for permission to use the restroom, they can’t sleep if their tired- only at bedtime. It’s very sad, and I’m fully aware that guidelines and procedures have to be used to give structure and stability. That doesn’t mean you have to be heartless. A visit or a drop off is the way we view Christmas. So what Jennifer did was show a child a gift , and then tell him he can’t have it. This is a health care professional? not in my opinion.
Google children of darkness on YouTube. This place is mentioned...and let's just say it was horrible. Hard to watch.
I will give it a 3 because really who wants to rate there stay 5 star in a looney bin. I had a long stay here not by choice. They helped me get home to my daughter. Recovered my id, social, and free plane ticket back to… chicago. In there they have computer time and acess. A lady who cuts your hair at no cost and does an amazing job. Also they acomidated my kosher food diet and had jewish study. I enjoyed art therpy my councler was great. And a ladies group where we got to do and show an activity that makes us feel empowered. Now i hear about the deaths that happend here scary to think... But my exsprence wasnt too bad alot of waiting but the staff really where careing and helpful.
