About South Central Mental Health – Augusta
South Central Mental Health operates from 2821 Brookside Drive in Augusta. The site sits in Butler County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include El Dorado. Kansas draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at South Central Mental Health
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

South Central Mental Health Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 2821 Brookside Drive, Augusta, KS 67010, in Butler County. The catchment reaches El Dorado. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

South Central Mental Health Reviews and Ratings
Personal accounts of South Central Mental Health sit in this section. Patterns across several reviews, such as repeated comments about communication or waiting times, are a better guide than any single account.
I've been a patient first on El Dorado and now on Augusta. I've gone through people and ended up the past 6 years in private therapy as with private practice therapists tend to stay around, and at scmh it's more of a… transition time from graduation to their own private practice. I could bring up the difficulties over the years with case management or the meds. But what I realized is that I'm human and so are the people that work there. And 12 years ago it was rough.l and even 3 years ago. It's brighter today. And I can honestly say they probably saved my life. I haven't met anyone ( ok well maybe one) that doesn't have a huge heart. They do what they are there for and there are times I've needed the help. Most treat you as an autonomous capable person. Nowadays I just see a med provider- Tara Price, and she is fantastic. She used to see a couple of my daughters and got them through a scary time for them as well. She listens, is compassionate and you can tell she is invested in helping you get to the point your wanting to get to in life if possible.... I know it's county mental health, but after either experiencing or hearing about things at other county mental health organizations in Kansas I think we've got it good in Butler county, not perfect, but good.... ( and that's a good thing, because perfectionists? Nah)
Hello, my name is Jayson. Since the age of eight and a half, I have been receiving services from South Central Mental Health Counseling Center. I began with their youth services, which I utilized until 2017, and… subsequently transitioned to adult services in 2018. Now, at twenty-six years old, I remain committed to promoting Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention. My experience with South Central Mental Health has fostered a deep sense of loyalty, and I am proud to be a long-standing client. Based on my positive interactions with their staff and services, I confidently award them a five-star rating. I appreciate the friendly and approachable nature of my caseworker, P.R.I, and counselor, as well as their tireless efforts to support me. Their advocacy for my independence, including the opportunity to live on my own, is particularly valued, and I am grateful for their ongoing assistance.
Eric is great and down to earth! I'm a female so I wasn't sure I would be comfortable with having a male therapist but no issues what so ever. I highly recommend him and everyone there.
The entire staff is very courteous and professional. My wife has dementia. Tacy Smith took enough time to fully understand what we needed. She made a very small change in my wife’s meds that has made a tremendous… difference in mood and overall disposition. I highly recommend the South Central group.
South Central Mental health is the worse place to go. They cancel on you all the time especially the therapist and case workers. They fire people but fail to let you know that person is no longer with them it happened… twice to me with a peer support person and a therapist. Very unhappy with what goes on finally I have enough of this place there has to be better options
We did not have a positive experience AT ALL. We tried to solve it with no avail. 10/10 would not recommend
You never get a call back and Amy the crisis person is judge mental and seriously needs to go rather than making people feel like an inconvenience.
I chose to review South Central Mental Health in Augusta with 4 stars because I'm very satisfied with the services I'm currently receiving however I chose four stars instead of five because I think there is always room… for improvement. I appreciate South Central Mental Health for all they do for me. They have been stern and strict in the past which I did not respond well to at the time. however. Now I find it necessary for the way I was I behaving at that current time. I've been enrolled with South Central since I was eight and have seen many staff and many employees come and go. I have a mental health matters sign in my room and it's a permanent reminder to always appreciate modern mental health treatment. I would approve of the '70s way of treatment less. The building is way more modern, was recently remodeled. So much cleaner than comcare. Thank you staff and therapist for always believing in me even when times were tough.
I love my case manger but the medication nuse Tracy smith needs to go back to school and learn how to treat a person with a multuid of problems she's a wanna b doctor and thinks she knows what works!
It's a great place. People there are really caring. Insurance person is not very good. It has taken a year to get it right and still hasn't.
Based on 1 year + of interaction.
They never call you back. And it feels as if they dont listen to you. I have no insurance but I have mental disorders.. the counselor they put you with if you have no insurance is a student. That's probably just… starting out.. it doesnt help, and did I mention they never call you back if you need to speak to a nurse! For christ's sake might as well admit yourself than go here.
The nicest staff and a great location. I'm really thankful for what they do. I'm in a much better place after visiting. If you're depressed and need therapy, I suggest booking an appointment. They even have staff who… will see you until 7pm.
They take forever to even call you back, IF you get a call back, and they are very judgmental.
They never call u back when u need to get in! Mary in Augusta Ks never returns phone calls, no matter how much u say u need to get in right away. I'm suicidal and they just ignore u. If u need help look else where
Great people, who listen and want to help.
I love my med check Jennifer Hubbard, she is great. The front desk is super friendly and always helpful.
