About The Teen Project

The Teen Project operates Vera’s Sanctuary in Trabuco Canyon as a highly specialized, trauma-informed residential recovery provider. Founded in 2007 by a foster system alumna, the organization delivers comprehensive substance use treatment and psychological rehabilitation designed exclusively for young women who have survived commercial sexual exploitation, homelessness, or severe childhood systemic instability. Operating under clinical licenses from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and validated by national healthcare accreditations, this remote sanctuary combines structured cognitive therapies with vocational development programs. The multidisciplinary clinical team administers structured levels of care, helping transition-age youth overcome polysubstance dependencies and deep-seated developmental trauma within an environment that mimics an intact family network.

I am forever grateful with the teen project organization and the founder Miss Lauri Burns for creating such an amazing organization to help women of all ages and backgrounds, suffering from addiction and mental health… problems as I once did. I am one of the bless individuals that had the luxury to be a part of such tremendous program. Having been at Veras Sanctuary for four months and then outpatient for six months gave me the tools and helped I needed to rebuilt my life. And not only that I was also awarded a scholarship to pay for beauty school. I believe that Lauri burns mission to help those that were left behind in the dark hell of addictions is being fulfilled day after day through the help that the Teen Project organization provides to all those in need.
