Touchstone Health Services – Avondale

Difficult to contact and set appointments. We've been receiving subpar services outside of the school setting. We were promised a lot when we intially got set up and it gave me a lot of false hope. Now they won't even… respond when you ask about the things your mot getting and get told its a staffing issue like that makes it ok. My family ferls like we are struggling a lot due to the care we are receiving.

Touchstone provided services for my son both through his school and outside of school. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. In the beginning, the individual assigned to help my son… was very unreliable. It felt like Kathryn McKenzie was constantly canceling meetings, which made it difficult to build consistency and trust in the services being provided. After going through the process with her, we were informed that she would be transferring and another person would be taking over my son’s care. The next individual reviewed my son’s assessments and explained that he did not have the mental health disorders previously discussed and would no longer qualify for assistance through their program. Then, shortly afterward, another staff member contacted me wanting to schedule weekly meetings with my son again. At that point, it became very clear that nobody was on the same page regarding his assessments, care, or services. As a parent, it is incredibly frustrating dealing with constant miscommunication, inconsistency, and unreliable scheduling, especially when it directly impacts my child’s education. My son was being pulled from class time, including classes he was already struggling in, only for us to continuously get mixed information and the runaround. I understand that helping families and children is not always easy work, but there needs to be better communication, organization, and consistency within the program. Families seeking support for their children deserve reliability and clarity, not confusion and frustration.

Great therapists and clinicians but unfortunately at the organizational level, your kids are walking dollar signs. They will drop you without warning (my kid had services one day and didn’t the next - twice) with no… regard for lapse in therapy including medication. Extreme disorganization at the cost of your child's mental health. Have a backup plan if your child is getting services through a grant with Touchstone.

We switched agencies so he could get ABA therapy. It's been almost a year, i have contacted his case worker, her supervisor, still haven't heard anything. I asked about family therapy for support, never heard back. The… only service we have now is the psychologist.

I have been waiting over an hour on hold to see if they can schedule an appointment!

Today was the first time I had a provider's office tell me there is 15 minute appointment available today only to tell me that my son needs a 30 minute appointment & cant be seen for over a month. To an office he's been… to already. But because his previous providers have since left (revolving door providers here, nothing new) he can't be seen since a new provider needs that 15 extra minutes to type up an rx that he needs daily and is now out of. There's no counseling actually provided. Just rushed appointments of them telling you what rx they think your child should be on. Be prepared for unprofessional attitudes and misguided opinions if you, the parent, dare have one on what you think is best for your own child - even out of experience. Kristy Groupe, was a BULLY when it came to us refusing a certain rx for my son. We didn't want this rx based on previous experience with side effects. Out of all the frustrations I've experienced as a parent of someone with a mental health disability, none are so frustrating as the lack of empathy & misinformed "professionals" that have handled my sons "care". Someone like me needs to speak up. I feel the brunt of the mental health frustrations that are plaguing every community (whether you see it or not). And it starts here at base zero having to work with these individuals that lack empathy & play by their own rules. Meanwhile your life could get turned upside down over 15 minutes. Here come the heart palpitations, anxiety, phone calls, waiting and expected "no" of being caught up in the mental health ping pong game of who's managing what while you wait for an appointment. 2 stars because our case manager/clinical liaison has been wonderful to us always & responds to needs in timely manner.
