About UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids (1026 A Avenue NE)

UnityPoint Health operates from 1026 A Avenue NE in Cedar Rapids. The site sits in Linn County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Anamosa, Conroy and Hiawatha. Iowa draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care is delivered here. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Treatment Services at UnityPoint Health

Hospital inpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

UnityPoint Health Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 1026 A Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, in Linn County. The catchment reaches Anamosa, Conroy and Hiawatha. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

After first going to Urgent Care we were told we needed to go to the ER instead. Arrived at the ER and they did some tests. Still have not a doctor. And we have now been waiting for 5 1/2 hours. The entire emergency… room has cleared out and people who came in hours after us have been seen and left. Almost 3 hours ago we asked the lady at the front desk how much longer and she said “there are only two people ahead of you.” Two hours ago… “still only two people ahead of you” after watching 6+ people be called back. Front desk receptionist needs to find a new attitude. Will NEVER come back here again. Don’t recommend anyone else coming here either. We arrived at 7:40pm and it’s 1:04am Unreal!

My dad had surgery and everyone in that matter was amazing for dealing w a grumpy old man. I got lost on the way to the cafeteria and an employee was heading the same way so she walked me down and gave me a tour and… made sure I was alright. The people here are truly amazing and kind hearted. Thank you to all the awesome staff.

So very pleasantly surprised. An amazing improvement since the last time I needed medical attention. The care I received from (Dr. Lidtke) and staff was top shelf. I observed several things that made me proud to have… been a long time patient. Many thanks, Daniel J Hilton

From the satellite ER to the main hospital, it was amazingly good care. I stayed on the neurology floor for 2 nights. The nurses, patient techs,, rad techs, docs and the medical director were awesome as were the… vestibular therapists that visited. I don’t recommend going to a hospital of course because I want everyone to be healthy, but if you have to, St. Luke’s is a great choice

The absolute worst ER experience of my life. The nurses laughed at me, made fun of me, acted as if they had no humanity. Not to mention they didn’t take anything I said seriously. Treated me like I was a burden . They… also will cover everything up to. The nurses lie for each other which is why there is no justice for the patients.

I am so grateful for the Hospice unit at St. Luke’s Unity Point, Cedar Rapids. The staff who cared for our sister in her last days were compassionate, professional, and caring. The unit was beautiful with many… thoughtful touches—a bed wide enough for the patient and a loved one, large windows to allow sunlight and views, a generous room with ample seating for family, a large family room when we needed to step away. As a retired nurse, I saw their professionalism and dedication to excellence in every interaction. Their commitment to patient advocacy was built into every interaction. Thank you for supporting our family and our sister in this difficult time.

Coding department is terrible, incorrectly coding procedures which is resulting in insurance not covering. Have also received incorrect information from employees which causes confusion with other employees.

On behalf of our family, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the care and compassion shown to Gary Foster during his final days. From the helicopter transport team who brought him to St. Luke’s Hospital, to the… physicians, nurses, and social workers in the ICU, every person we encountered treated him with dignity, respect, and genuine kindness. We are especially grateful for the way you kept us informed, answered every question with patience, and even took moments to speak to our dad as if he could hear you. That compassion meant more than words can fully express. We are also deeply thankful to the Iowa Donor Network team for their guidance, support, and care throughout the donation process. Knowing that he was able to give to others has brought our family a measure of comfort in an incredibly difficult time. The compassion and humanity shown by everyone involved will stay with us always. Thank you for taking such good care of him and for treating our family with such respect and kindness. We can not say more about your care, Tanja (wife), Torrey (son), and Ryne (son)

By far the worst ER ever! when I went there was there was an IV full of fluid in it with chunks Ivy caps on the floor very unprofessional staffing doesn’t clean you up fully and send you home like nothing happened also… sends you home when your still bleeding out of your arm with only a few stitches an still open wound did not even try to clean it before putting stitches.

Barring medical needs that sent me to St, Luke’s, ALL staff were pleasant and professional. From top to bottom the care was phenomenal to me as an individual, not by my patient number. Beyond hospitable by providing… anything I could possibly need and they even gave my husband an evening snack bag so that he wouldn’t have to leave my side. I appreciated the communication between the rounding physician and surgical doctors and myself so I maintained autonomy in my own healthcare decisions. 10/10 stars!

I am currently a patient here at St Luke's hospital I have been in severe pain for 9 days I have been taking Dilaudid as they have it scheduled for me but the 2 mg is not working and so I chose not to take any today as… it is not working and I do not look like putting stuff in my body that does not work my mom called up here and told them that I am not a drug seeker and that I do have a high tolerance for pain because I've been in a car accident and been paralyzed I've also had issues with my appendix and gallbladder and going septic and so I've been on pain medication and so it's not my fault that I have a high tolerance to pain not even 4 mg of oral Dilaudid will do anything. As a 13-year CNA experience in and being a patient advocate for other patients I would not recommend this hospital for you and your loved ones especially if they are older and cannot advocate for themselves because if you do you may lose your loved one because all the nurses here like Jillian and Paige and long with many others including Jordan the charge nurse on the third floor on the specialty unit surgical do not take them there do not have these nurses take care of you will fight for your life and it will not matter they will make you take drugs against your will telling you that they will help you if you take that drug and then they don't. I've never been to a hospital where they force you to take an opioid that does not work

I had a very positive experience at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The doctors, nurses, and entire medical staff were incredibly professional, compassionate, and attentive throughout the treatment process. They… took the time to clearly explain every step, answered all questions patiently, and made sure we felt comfortable and well cared for. The level of care and dedication shown by the medical team was truly impressive. From the moment we arrived until the treatment was completed, everything was handled efficiently and with great kindness. The hospital facilities were clean, well organized, and the staff made sure the patient’s comfort and safety were always a priority. I’m very grateful for the excellent care we received. Thank you to the entire team at St. Luke’s for their commitment to patient care and for making a difficult situation much easier.

Worst ER experience of my life. We ran my friend to the hospital for chest pain and left sided drooping face, figured he was having a stroke or heart attack. We ran in and they smiled and laughed at us while we were all… freaking out. They then proceeded to not pay attention to my friend at all but instead ask him for his information, name, address, etc. back in the room they took us too, the nurse was cussing and not doing anything to help him. She then left the room bc her shift was over and we proceeded to wait another 10-20 minutes for a new nurse. We didn’t get into see a Dr till 4am, and we got there at 130.

At the ER right now. They are not very personable. The nurse said she would be back for a urine sample. Didn’t come back. My fiancée had to use the bathroom. Girl comes in. This isn’t my pod. I don’t know what he is… supposed to do. She gets a plastic urinal and says here pee in this and leaves. I had to help him up. Unhook things and help him off the bed. Then help him back to bed, and hook things back up. Not happy with this place.

I will NEVER use this hospital again. Go to Mercy or UIHC, even PCI is much much better in most ways! Now, you want me to do a task to help you fix your problem. This attitude is where the staff problem begins. You cant… afford my time.

In the last four days, I had presented to this ED with SI with an intent and a plan Three times and each time they had released me where I can be a danger to myself and others. This is a pure abuse of practice and… should be investigated by the state.

Back in 2022 there was a male paramedic security who gave me orders to leave the hospital I was asking for help and needed to use their phone to call support he was rude and told me I had a certain amount of time to use… the phone before I needed to leave. It was crazy as he was taking away my privacy and access. His name was Jack I think! This paramedic was most likely not trained properly. He made me feel uncomfortable. I had run into him twice and first time was an ambulance ride! Jack said let's get a rape kit and I said that's not necessary. He did not listen and put a needle in my arm. I'm not sure but I think I was lied to I mean I have a disability and how does a rape kit even start with a needle? Please people stand up for your rights.
