Does Insurance Cover Rehab?

Yes. Addiction treatment sits among the essential health benefits most plans are required to include. What a plan actually pays varies with the employer, the network and the level of care, so two people with the same insurer can face very different bills. Employer plans, Medicare and Kentucky Medicaid are all present here.

Coverage and approval are separate steps. Expect prior authorization ahead of any detox or residential admission, and expect in-network or out-of-network status to settle what you actually pay. Kentucky expanded Medicaid in 2014 and the benefit covers residential treatment, medication for opioid use disorder and peer support.
