Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Lorton, Fairfax, VA

Lorton lies in southern Fairfax County along the Potomac, and it is best known for the prison that operated here for the District of Columbia from 1910 until 2001.

The DC Department of Corrections ran the reformatory on land the federal government bought specifically for it, and around 7,000 people were held there at its peak.

It closed in 2001 under legislation that transferred DC’s felons to the federal system, and the site has since become a park, an arts center and housing.
