Lowkey.. better than I expected!! This is my first time with ANY treatment whatsoever, so it was hard to adapt to at first, but I did! The way they work here genuinely helped me reframe my point of view of nutrition.… Also, everyone wasn't kidding when they said Anna is the best therapist, she's AWESOME. Speaking of awesome, Chefanie's cooking skills are absolutely phenomenal. My tastebuds crave her recipies rn..anyway! All of the RC's are super kind in my opinion, and I don't wanna throw out names but the nightshift duo RC's are the coolest and best staff here!! Another thing, I'm usually a very closed-off person, but the clients here allowed me be more outgoing. Although it depends on the milieu, everyone I've met has been super sweet. And for some advice, accept treatment as much as you can, it's so worth it in the end with so many more opportunities in your life. :-)

For me I had a positive experience. It helped me a lot and helped me open up. The staff was great and really helped me get to where I am now. My therapist Anna was the best therapist I have ever had she helped me so… much. Shout out to these Rcs Emily, Grace, Alyssa, Alisa, Rita, Bethany, and mishele. Also to the therapist Anna ofc and Jessica. Then my dietitian Coco (Cleo🙃). It does take some time to get used to everything it’s really not that bad. Most of the groups were helpful like process that group really helped me get out my feelings. It was nice to have a group were I could do that. I feel like my life would not be the same if I never went here it changed my life in the best way. Thank you🫶💕 Second time: Im here for a second time. Lets just say that a lot of the staff left (nothing wrong with that) but it still was a great experience for me. Shout out to - Alyssa, Hailey, Emily (when she comes) , Abbie, Tatum, and Anna of course!! Those people have really helped me in my journey and will always be known for how much they cared about me and everyone else. Thank you. HI ANNA Other thing I would like to say after a year is that I would not be where I am today without Clementine. Everyone has their different experiences but that all depends on how much you choose recovery. Clem will always hold a special place in my heart to this day. Im me again, I'm listening to my body, eating my birthday cake, and actually getting through the whole year of school for the first time in 3 years. With full honesty without Clementine I would not be here. The staff changed something in me that sparked a whole new level of happiness in my life. I never thought I’d say this but after 4 years I’m officially recovered from my Eating Disorder and no this was not an easy process but when you put your best effort in your recovery it will only get better. Thank you Clem❤️‍🩹

My experience at Clementine was not just ineffective, it was deeply traumatizing, invalidating, and harmful. I entered this facility seeking treatment and recovery for a severe eating disorder and trauma history. What I… experienced instead was isolation, bullying, deception, and systemic failure from the very people entrusted with my care. Rather than learning that I wasn’t alone, I was made to feel profoundly different and abandoned. The staff routinely isolated me and allowed, if not enabled, cruel behavior from peers. I was the oldest patient during my stay (I turned 17 while admitted), yet despite being surrounded by younger residents, I was still relentlessly targeted and ostracized. The staff made no meaningful effort to intervene or protect me. One of the most damaging moments came directly from leadership. The director told me, “You’re just not everyone’s cup of tea- try to be less.” This was said to a teenager already struggling with a shattered sense of identity. Instead of support, I was told to shrink myself further. That comment alone speaks volumes about the culture of this facility. Communication with my parents was deliberately obstructed. Their attempts to reach me were routinely blocked, and staff provided them with fabricated updates claiming I was “doing great,” when I was, in reality, deteriorating. I was stripped of all outside contact- no phone access, no meaningful connection to the world- despite having a severe trauma disorder and no healthy coping mechanisms at the time. Starvation was my only learned way to cope, and Clementine did nothing to replace it with safer alternatives. My stay ultimately ended with staff calling the police on me after discovering a suicide note, one that was dated and written the day after I arrived, over a month earlier. Instead of recognizing this as a failure to reassess my safety and mental state over time, they escalated the situation in a way that further traumatized me. I did recover—but despite Clementine, not because of it. This facility worsened my trauma, eroded my trust in treatment, and intensified my eating disorder for years afterward. Clementine did not help me heal; it taught me that even in spaces labeled “treatment,” I was not safe. I strongly caution anyone considering this facility, especially parents entrusting their children to it. My experience was not care- it was neglect, emotional harm, and institutional gaslighting. No one seeking recovery should ever be treated the way I was at Clementine

10/10 do NOT recommend!!! met my bestfriend, that’s about the only good part. except for 2 specific rcs, 1 nurse and 1 therapist. food was trash. barley went outside. restricted from doing lots of things, felt like a… prison almost. if you want a bad experience definitely go here🤍

I previously wrote a review, but after reflecting on my time there years later, I wanted to rewrite. I was there May-July of 2022. While the house is nice that is all that is good about the program. I am aware that… majority of the staff has changed, and I still feel the need to write this. Im not sure what problem the staff had with me, but I was treated very poorly. There’s several occurrences I could bring up, but the one that still sticks out to this day is when the Program Manager pulled me into a room with one of the counselors and proceeded to yell at me. It wasn’t just a stern talking to, she literally screamed at me. I’m pretty confident the rest of the clinical staff knew this was going to happen. When I walked out of the room therapists proceeded to watch me go to a corner by myself and did not say a word or approach me. They actually brought everyone outside so no one could hear or witness it. It never came up in any conversation and staff acted like this was ok and normal. I’m also interested to know if the psychiatrist still works there. He’s probably the most passive aggressive person I’ve ever met in a treatment center. Everyone came out of their appointments crying or angry. The whole aura changed after he would come and meet with everyone. It was never taken seriously by any staff. I participated in a lot of treatment after I left here, and went back to a different residential 6 weeks after leaving. I can confidently say this is the worst experience I had in all of my treatment.

let me start off by saying, i’ve been to many residentials/inpatients over the years but thus far, this was the worst. i was admitted to clem in november 2024 and pulled from program in january 2025. i’ve had an eating… disorder majority of my life (i am 16 currently) but it was pretty well managed for a while. after being sent to clementine and enduring months of neglect and abuse and also not to mention relentless bullying from other clients, i left the program in worse condition than i entered. i now have eczema due to long term exposure to my allergens, my face was bleeding and cracked and i could barely open my eyes the day i left. i had only dropped a small amount of weight before being admitted but after being weight restored and leaving, i’ve lost a record amount of weight in the past months. since being there i’ve relapsed heavily into my disordered eating habits, and i am constantly thinking about my experiences there. my therapist was cruel and rude to me, the doctor and psychiatrist would make comments about my diagnosis’s as well as my weight to “provoke me.” whatever you do, choose any other option rather than this. this was no environment to heal in, only an environment to let hurt thrive.

I wrote a review before and I’m revising it to be shorter. I was admitted December 12, 2023 and discharged February 27, 2024. My experience at Clementine was abusive, and I am not exaggerating when I use that word.… Myself and other clients faced lying, bio-hazards, power imbalance between clientele and staff, miscommunication and lack of care all at the hands of Clementine, Fairfax. I made a client laugh who had bladder issues which caused her to urinate on the floor. The recovery-coach working that day had me clean up the urine without gloves or PPE. Another client was denied her reserved phone call time because she missed it, she only missed it because she had vomited and spent time cleaning it up because she was denied a vomit bag when she was feeling nauseous and asked for one. The recovery-coaches lacked empathy, myself and other clients were told to calm down when we were rightfully upset. Overall, Clementine made me feel like a burden. I still remember how they treated me at my worst and while it is your decision to admit your loved one, I hope you don’t. There was a recovery-coach that I trusted and respected: Abbie. She was capable as a recovery-coach yet had empathy and treated me as a person instead of a burden or an injured animal. In terms of my recovery, Clementine only reinforced behaviors. Clementine takes a weight-restorative approach and the attempts made to address the thoughts itself I didnt find helpful.

This place quite literally traumatized me.. If you plan on sending your child here do not.. From my personal experience and I have been to another clementine which went well but this place so many things abusive things… happened. Girls spread rumors. The water from the showers were freezing and the drinking water did not taste like it was safe to drink.. People would complain and nothing would change. A staff made girls clean up another girls pee after they made her laugh.. That staff member still workers there. The newish worker I met Alyssa did not know what she was doing. The girls would tell me how they had to help her because she was nice but clueless.. The clifton house recently shut down and most of that staff is now working at the fairfax house but the rules aren’t the same so that made it weird. I got thrown into this environment where all the workers were telling me different things and I got in trouble for stuff that some of the staff told me it was ok to do. So many girls got sent to another level of care usually higher so if that tells you anything. They lost my things. When confronted about it they dismissed it and never found my clothes that were over $100. All the staff had different rules so clearly something was missing like communication and etc. And even the girls told me that staff told them not to tell new clients certain things when they admit to the program so if that tells you anything. We have three exclusions and my first breakfast I got my exclusions. I’m vegetarian and they gave me meat.. Apparently they forgot to put in my chart? I’ve heard so many outrageous stories of things that had happened there and that’s the reason why new rules are being implied so also if that tells you anything.. If you want your child to get help this is not the place and there are so many better places so please do not send them here. There’s so so much more but thats all i’m sharing.

I discharged from this clementine a little over a year ago, and I have to say that it was an interesting experience. This was my first clementine and I didn’t know what to expect at first. The treatment approach was… certainly better than Renfrew or anywhere else since it’s for adolescents only. Whereas some other places combine adults and adolescents together. On the other hand, I feel like this environment was overall okay. I would say that half the staff actually cared about the clients and the other half just didn’t seem to care. Sadly, the majority of the good RC’s had quit a little after I left. A lot of the staff quit after that too. There have been some instances where staff members were caught doing drugs and or talking about clients health publicly. All I’m saying is that they just need to be more mindful with what they say and how to help us. I was there for 9 weeks, and I feel like there needs to be more structure in that place. It’s always short staffed and barely people around to help. It’s like sometimes no one is evening watching us. This experience did help in the perspective of food in some standard. I’m not drilling this place, but it wouldn’t hurt to educate your staff more. Thank you.

I discharged from this facility today and I have to say that it was one of the hardest, yet most helpful things in my journey to recovery. All the staff are so incredibly kind and caring and made my stay here a hundred… times better. There is always a therapist around to help when feeling anxious and always a RC to have a check in with. I came in extremely scared but my treatment team helped me more then imaginable. I heavily recommended this facility!😊 -AT

I was the second ever person to go to this facility from what i remember. this was a bit less than two years ago. my experience at clementine might just be the most traumatic experience of my entire life. i still have… moments where i reflect thinking about how messed up this place is, even my mom agrees this place was a complete mistake. my medical conditions only got worse, eventually i was sent back to the hospital and then a different facility . The RCs seemed extremely inexperienced and unprepared, one of them i remember said super triggering things many times. different RCs had different rules even. one time no one made the food so the nurses did and they made meals that were basically what someone with an ed would eat. the showers were freezing and the environment just made me feel like i was trapped in the middle of nowhere. the therapists were terrible too they were so robotic. this is only just the tiniest bit of how awful this place is, there has been several traumatic things that have happened to me there .don’t go here it’s basically a living hell.

Jasper Selbig2 years ago

My name is jasper I went here a little over a year ago I wanted to leave a review and I guess I never got around to it so this is my review. I do not recommend sending your child here. Some of the staff you could tell… really did care for the children there but you could tell visibly that most of them didn't and were only there for the paycheck. My favorite RCs which worked there when I was there sadly left but they really did help me. The direct runner and manager of the house didn't seem to care quit so much. Some of the things I personally experienced was overhearing nurses, the chef and multiple RCs talk about the patients behind there backs talking about there weight and almost playing a guessing game with what would happen with the clients there. I was in the other room and this was during family visitation while others were to busy with there families to hear. A RC told me one night and manipulated my thoughts on dinner I was almost finished and I was on level 3 almost able to get discharged and I told this RC that I couldnt finish one of the chicken wings they gave me bc of all the fat that was on it and I asked her if she could just give me another one but she told me no and basically forced me to eat it by saying "if you dont eat it your going to go back to level 2" meaning my discharge status would be set far back. When your on level 3 your expected to complete all of you food which is why she said this. This brought me to tears because it was actual fat on the wing and no one eats fat off meat at least I dont. But i didnt want to stay longer so I did it. I told other workers including my therapist about these situations and yet nothing seemed be done. There was also a nurse there named stephanie and me and the other girls there constantly smelled the reeking stink of weed coming from her office whenever she was there, I've had multiple encounters with her while her eyes were low and bloodshot red. She threated me and a couple other girls to stop talking about it bc we talked to rc's to show our worry and complaints bc she was supposed to be taking care of us. Once she was high out of her mind and was supposed to draw our blood. She put one of those rubber elastic bands on my arm preparing to draw my blood and when she went to get the needle and tubes she almost tipped her chair over and proceeded to try and go in with the needle on the opposite arm of which she put the rubber band on. The next day all of the girls including me had to get our blood redrawn bc I guess she was to high to remember to turn on the machine that keeps the blood safe and usable for the next day for the person to come pick up the blood. Ik this is a long review but im really trying to tell you why this isnt a good place to send your kids. She ended up getting fired or quitting idk. But that just shows how much background check they really do on these workers. Some of the things i didnt see happen where RC's poking kids stomachs, saying they "arnt fat but arnt skinny either". Some of the things i did see were rc's saying things like, "walking up these stairs so much today probably burned so many calories" and other things among those lines. These people working there do not have the right training or the right mindset to take care of kids struggling with eds especially in the level of care theyre in. I really hope you take all of these bad comments into consideration when choosing a care place to send your child.

It was very hard to adjust to the constant surveillance and loss of control, but Clementine is genuinely so much better than a lot of other facilities. It takes awhile to adapt to the new environment, and the group… polarization of hatred of staff and rules makes it hard to stand living there. A lot of the clients constantly complain about staff doing things they are required to do (increasing meal plans, making everyone finish the crumbs on their plate/ lick sauce off, taking away their outing privileges, cracking the door and making you count when you use the bathroom, etc.), and the never ending complaints and arguments that result in groupthink make it hard to focus on recovery and the beneficial parts of being there. This place does work for what it’s meant to do, the outcome depends on how much effort you put into your recovery. Majority of the staff is so kind and genuinely cares and wants what’s best for you and they will help, but only if you let them. It sucks when staff doesn’t let you do what you want, but they are all just following the rules in place and trying to do their jobs. Anna C (Therapist) was my favorite staff member and gave so much support to everyone there. She made me feel heard and understood. Shoutout Grace (Day RC), Emily (RC), Rita (RC), and Michelle, Bethany, and Barbara (RCs from Twin Lakes); who all gave me support when I was having my worst moments there. Some of the groups were very helpful, Anton’s relapse prevention group was beneficial to most everyone and was greatly appreciated. The nursing staff was for the most part very kind and helpful. The management was unhelpful and aggravating. The inconsistency at this place made me chronically irritable, some of the staff would say I could do something and the other half wouldn’t let me. During my intake, I was told about a lot of benefits about the program that were not true (it is a universal experience among all clients, and it is distressing and felt upsetting to all of us). The Program Manager, Leah, consistently lied to me and interrupted me when I tried to advocate for myself. Every time she came on weekends she would make us clean the entire house, which the other clients and I felt like was a waste of time and was motivated by her personal feelings towards us. Stephanie, The Clinical Director, made me feel like being there was a punishment. Almost none of the clients’ requests were heard or listened to, and most complaints were never resolved (at least not during the time I was there.) The Chefs, Stephanie and Tony (Twin Lakes), were very kind and empathetic. The school teacher, Travis, was very fun to talk to and accommodating. Once I got past the drastic change from my home life, overall I had a good experience and this place helped me gain a lot of insight on the root of my behaviors and how I can cope in other ways.

This was my first treatment center. I felt that it was horrible run by the clinical director and program manager . The twin lakes staff that worked there did not know the rules and some of them would sit in their cars… for 30 minutes when the other RC (recovery coaches) needed help with snack prep and bathrooms. Every meal and snack was late sometimes up to 30 minutes. The nurses were very helpful and doing more than they were supposed to. It was a very stressful experience, and if you are planning on sending your child here look into twin lakes instead it is the same clinical director but not the same program manager and the new program manager is very kind. A lot of the clients are not pro recovery and if you child is very impressionable they may also turn if they weren’t already anti recovery, most of the clients talk about each other but it’s also a house of “girls”(in quotes for trans and nonbinary people) so it is bound to happen. The program will only work if you give all the effort you need to recover.

this is my second Clementine stay, previously I was at Twin Lakes. I would say overall the program is wonderful and attends to the needs of clients however, this specific location is under HORRIBLE management which made… my family decide to take me home 6 weeks early. The program manager and clinical director, Leah and Stephanie, made my stay feel like I was a bug in a cage being poked by a stick. The other clients and I felt like we were under insane pressures to be flawless and never show negative emotions. we were talked down to and disrespect while if we reflected the same treatment, we had privileges taken away including contact with our parents. although the higher authority was in hands unfit for child care and mental health treatment, some of the RCs and therapists were amazing. Specifically Grace (the day RC), Alisa(with long dirty blonde hair), Bethany(from twin lakes), Emily (therapist), and Michaela(from Twin Lakes)all made me feel cared for and ensured that i was okay in the chaos that occurred almost daily. The food itself was good and diameters needs were met well. I appreciated the chef, stephanie, a lot, she was very kinda and reassuring. Many of the clients needed higher/different care which made them a risk to other clients. Overall my experience was more negative then i’d hoped.

This place as you may have read has made a CLEAR impression on clients. However, compared to other places I assure you this may be a more sustainable solution for it in fact led me to the recovered person I am today…… The therapists from my experience were all very supportive and a shoulder to lean on. The groups they led could get offtopic and avoid actual solutions to problems nevertheless, they are always more than happy to do check-ins and always make sure that the clients are at least somewhat heard. I personally would like to shout out Jessica, my therapist who was exceptionally a perfect match for me. We got along great and she was extremely understanding throughout our sessions. The system when it came to RCs varied. I want to appreciate Alyssa, Emily, Abbie, night arc’s Rita and Grace, and twin lakes RCs Michelle, Mikaela, Vange, Barbara. They deserve the applause for the actual effort they made to get to know the milieu/clients. When it came to staff the miscommunication was incredibly childish. Especially RC gossip about clients. I won’t name names because I’m not an immature like the RC who’d done this, however I was accused and rudely talked about TO MY THERAPIST about actions that were made up, making me feel/seem like a horrible person though I did no wrong. Not only that but apparently the RC was playing telephone with other RC’s spreading lies about me that I had to clear up with many other RC’s. That affects someone a lot more than you think when it comes to recovery. I would also like to point out that if it wasn’t for the milieu (aka other clients)I had been with during my stay I don’t think that this would’ve been a very easy recovery. A lot of the time I did find myself being a more successful therapist to others rather than their own when it came to actually finding solutions to miscommunications or etc. I’m not sure whether that says I should take up being an advocate as a career or some workers that weren't doing their job. Especially since most of the time the problems were conflicts with the staff. I won’t waste too much more of your time, but hopefully you take all of this into consideration so you don’t also walk in completely clueless like many others have.

some RCs were nice, but a lot of them were horrible. the directors were actually evil, they lied to clients and their parents all the time. they confiscate stuff and then never give it to you, and if your roommate gets… sent to a higher level of care they just take all the clothes near their bed and send it with the patients parents, and then they will refuse to help you get your clothes back. the RCs will publicly humiliate clients frequently. they don’t help you at all here, and the group therapies are pointless.

Overall a good experience, the place was very helpful and I learned a lot there. Was probably the best residential I've been to. I did have an issue with one of the rcs spreading rumors to other rcs about me (I was told… by other rcs about it) Other than that my stay here was great, and I'm thankful to a lot of the staff members and nurses for making my time here as comfortable as possible. Thank you!

Hi my names Claire and I left this facility 6 months ago. It wasn’t a good experience at all and I wanted to let all the parents that are considering sending there child here that it was absolutely terrible. They… treated all of us like a prisoner and played mind games, I wouldn’t ever recommend this place to any little girl. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! I wish the best for all girls and boys who struggle with eating disorders.💓 but This facility is NOT my recommendation.

Clementine was really helpful, the RCs were amazing and helpful. Sadly a lot of people quit but before all the RCs quit it was a great place. It was a great community Abby a safe place. Everyone has a different… experience but I think that it was great. The food there was great but the only bad thing was I wasn’t with my parents the whole time and sometimes rumors would be spread around and would be taken seriously

i was there for 3 months. there were very good RC’s (recovery coaches) and nurses. although, all the nurses have left or have been fired. and all the good and caring RC’s have left. while i was there, my therapist was… incredibly helpful and i loved the nutritionist. it really helped my eating disorder and i’m doing much better now. residential is never fun but it was better than bad. there are a lot of not so good rc’s there rn. personally i think that it’s gotten worse since everyone left. the food was pretty good sometimes. it’s never gonna be perfect it’s not a restaurant. but it was okay. i wouldn’t suggest going there now just because of the staff and how it’s gonna be support wise, there’s always a chance it will be helpful to some people. but while i was there it was pretty good

YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE EFFORT. the effort that your child chooses to put in, will determine their experience and outcome. everyone is going to struggle, and people are going to hate staff when things don’t go their way,… but the staff is ultimately great. they are on your side even when it doesn’t feel like it. it’s a long program, but the road to recovery is long. this was my first residental and it was completely successful. you will get a 15 minute phone call once a day, and that won’t change so don’t fight it and make it worse for others. take your time, and STAY AWAY FROM THE DRAMA. overall, you get to decide how this goes for you. it’s an extraordinary place to start, highly recommend.

Where do I begin. I left this treatment facility about 2 weeks ago. the food was awful, and served cold. the ensure was warm, and all the good RC's quit. The remaining staff are rude and dismissive. The only good part… about this place are the nursing staff and some of the therapists. this place was literal phycological torture. it takes months to "level up", and they make you call your parents if you don't finish a meal, while they put the phones on speaker, so it's extra humiliating. I can't even explain why it was so terrible because it could be potentially triggering to some people, but this place was hell. please do not send your child here. the only way I got out of here was because I attempted SI. If I could give zero stars, I would.
