Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Jackson Ward, Richmond

Jackson Ward was the center of Black commercial and cultural life in Richmond from the 1870s, known as the Harlem of the South and the Black Wall Street of America.

Maggie Walker, the first Black woman to charter a bank in the United States, ran the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank here from 1903.

Interstate 95 was driven through the neighborhood in the 1950s, demolishing around a thousand homes and severing the ward in two.
