DUI and DWI Programs in Wyoming

Wyoming handles impaired driving cases through DUI education and substance use treatment from providers certified by the Behavioral Health Division of the Wyoming Department of Health. A judge decides whether a person needs the education course, treatment, or both. The listings below show where programs report DUI services alongside outpatient care and other levels of treatment.

Eighty-four percent of Wyoming programs listing DUI services sit in rural areas, and the rest are in towns such as Jackson and Gillette. Listing details are drawn from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings, and information the providers send us.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Where are DUI programs in Wyoming?

DUI and DWI program listings in Wyoming cluster first in Jackson, then Gillette, Thermopolis, Urie and Douglas. Asking whether a provider holds certification from the state is a sensible check before enrolling.

Jackson, Afton and Gillette are the larger nearby towns for these programs. Distance matters in a state where a suspended license can make every trip to a class harder to arrange.

Rehab Centers in Jacksonhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/wyoming/jackson-wy/
Is a DUI program covered by Wyoming Medicaid?

Coverage through Wyoming Medicaid is recorded by nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Wyoming. Whether Medicaid pays for a court-required education class, as opposed to treatment, is worth asking before enrolling. Adults are covered directly by the state program, as Wyoming Medicaid has no managed care plans for them.

Rehab Centers in Wyoming That Accept Wyoming Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/wyoming/wyoming-medicaid/
Are there DUI programs near the mountains in Wyoming?

Deer Creek Breaks, the Rocky Mountains and the Salt River Range are the most-named mountain features near DUI and DWI programs in Wyoming. Most of the DUI and DWI programs in Wyoming sit within 25 miles of a mountain, at a median of about 11.4 miles from listed facilities.

For court-ordered classes, a short drive matters more than the view, especially in winter, when mountain passes can slow travel between home and each required session.

Rehab Centers Near Mountainshttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/mountains/

What DUI or DWI program does Wyoming require, and who approves it?

Wyoming requires DUI education, treatment, or both, as ordered by the court, from a provider certified by the Behavioral Health Division of the Wyoming Department of Health. The department names the education course Substance Level 0.5 DUI Education, which teaches about alcohol, drugs and driving and is not clinical care.

Treatment is a separate service for a substance use disorder, offered under the division’s Provider Certification Program for Substance Use Disorder Services. Wyoming law (W.S. 7-13-1302) makes a substance use disorder assessment mandatory after the third misdemeanor DUI conviction or a felony DUI. Hour requirements come from the court order, so ask how many apply to your case.

Some people are referred to a treatment court instead. Since July 1, 2024, the Wyoming Supreme Court has overseen court supervised treatment programs, and those courts follow the Wyoming Treatment Court Standards. For programs that take referrals from the courts, see court-ordered rehab in Wyoming.

A listing that reports DUI services reflects what the provider tells us, so ask the Behavioral Health Division to confirm a provider’s certification. An assessment result decides whether education alone is enough or whether outpatient or residential care is needed. Online courses count only if the court accepts them, so get that agreement in writing first.

How does a DUI assessment decide which program or treatment you need in Wyoming?

A DUI assessment in Wyoming is a clinical interview that screens for alcohol or drug use problems, and its result points to the level of care you will be asked to complete. A clinician at a certified provider usually carries it out. The assessment covers your drinking or drug use, past treatment, mental health and the details of the offense. The result may call for education only, or for one of the treatment levels below. Ask for a written copy to give the court.

StepWhat it involvesWhat sets it
DUI education (Level 0.5)A course, not clinical treatmentCourt order
AssessmentScreening for a substance use disorderCourt order; state law after a third misdemeanor or felony DUI
Outpatient or intensive outpatientScheduled sessions while living at homeAssessment result
ResidentialLive-in treatmentAssessment result

Wyoming listings show outpatient programs, intensive outpatient and residential rehab. Some alcohol rehab programs and Suboxone clinics also list medication for alcohol or opioid use disorder. A court can order any of these levels of care.

Can you complete a DUI or DWI program online in Wyoming?

An online DUI course counts in Wyoming only if the court or agency that ordered it accepts it, so get approval in writing before you enroll. Wyoming’s state-funded Behavioral Health Centers allow telehealth only by real-time audio and video, and a phone call does not count. Commercial health plans issued on or after December 1, 2021 must cover telehealth substance use services on the same terms as in-person care. See telehealth rehab in Wyoming for programs that list it.

Wyoming distances make remote options appealing. For DUI-listed programs, the nearest airport is a median of 42.1 miles away, and Jackson Hole Airport is the closest for about one in five. Eighty-eight percent sit within 25 miles of a named mountain feature, most often Deer Creek Breaks. The median elevation is 5,335 feet, so winter driving to weekly sessions can be hard.

How do you pay for a DUI program or court-ordered treatment in Wyoming?

The DUI education fee is usually paid directly to the provider, while treatment can be paid through private insurance, Wyoming Medicaid, sliding fee scales or state-funded Behavioral Health Centers. Ask for the course fee in writing. Wyoming has not expanded Medicaid to adults under 133 percent of the federal poverty level, so many adults do not qualify. See programs accepting Medicaid if you have coverage. Others can look at sliding scale rehab or state-funded rehab in Wyoming.

State-funded Behavioral Health Centers must be nationally accredited and state certified, and they must give pregnant women preference for admission. The health department’s fee schedule, effective July 1, 2026, sets a group intensive outpatient rate of $143.54 per day and a primary residential rate of $150 per day. Those figures are what the state pays providers, not your personal bill.

What happens after you finish the program, and how do you get your license back?

Getting a Wyoming license back after a DUI depends on meeting every condition the court and the state driver licensing office set, including proof that you finished the program. Ask the court whether an ignition interlock device or other conditions apply in your case. Also ask the provider how and when it reports completion. Completing a program does not guarantee any outcome in your criminal case.

What to bring and ask

Bring your court paperwork, any assessment results, your deadline and the name of your probation officer. Ask about the fee, the schedule and how proof of completion is sent. If you need services in another language, see Spanish-speaking rehab in Wyoming or ask about interpreters.

Where to get help now

Call or text 988 for crisis support at any hour. The national treatment referral line can point you to local programs. No separate Wyoming substance use helpline was found, and the health department directs people to 988. To browse more listings by town and service, start from the Wyoming rehab page.
