AODS Melaleuca Clinic Opioid Treatment Services
Opioid treatment and outpatient counselling are the two levels of care at AODS Melaleuca Clinic, both delivered on a non-residential basis from The Prince Charles Hospital campus. Individual counselling is the therapy the service lists, and it sits alongside the opioid treatment programme rather than replacing it.
Which medications the clinic prescribes is not stated in the research for this site, nor are the substances it treats, group therapy, withdrawal management or aftercare. That makes a direct call worthwhile before you or someone you care about relies on Melaleuca for a particular part of treatment. Dosing days run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from the morning, with Wednesday opening at 11:00.

How Much Does Treatment at AODS Melaleuca Clinic Cost?
Opioid treatment at AODS Melaleuca Clinic is free. Metro North Hospital and Health Service funds the clinic within Queensland’s public health system, so dosing, the counselling that goes with it and the appointments in between come at no cost to you or a loved one.
Private health insurance is not required to attend, and no private pay rate, Medicare rebate, NDIS package or WorkCover claim is listed for this clinic. AODS Melaleuca Clinic Reviews
Reviews of AODS Melaleuca Clinic from around the web are limited, which is usual for a publicly funded opioid treatment clinic on a hospital campus. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for this service, so anyone who has dosed or had counselling at Melaleuca is welcome to share their experience.
What appears online about The Prince Charles Hospital describes the hospital rather than this clinic, so it offers little guidance about the opioid treatment programme. An account of how staff handle dosing, how flexible the hours are in practice and how the counselling fits around work would be worth a great deal to anyone considering Melaleuca.
Thank you beautiful people I’ve ever met. You are the life saver’s. Jesus I thought god came for me to early . The Doctors Ed and the after care nurses I love you all. Guess what I’m still here xxxxxxxx
Cardiac ward amazing. Nurses and doctors are outstanding. So caring and so so clever. Thanks for looking after my mum.
Fantastic Doctors and Nurses, nothing to hard, 100% attention and care .
Yet again failed by the system came to Ed as I was in a mental heath crisis I struggled to express my distress as my mind was so overstimulated and they basically said go to the gp to discuss. Their line of questioning… was “what outcome are you expecting from this visit” or what would you like us to do about it. This line of questioning is utterly disgusting and appalling to put the pressure back on the patient who is struggling and obviously needs help. They failed to see the signs and make dismissive comments. I was also pressured after saying I don’t have a next of kin or emergency contact. They came to me again saying they need a next of kin as they need to contact them which is absolutely untrue, not everyone has an emergency contact and I do believe the nurse was pressuring me to get a reaction. May I suggest that nurses keep their egos at home and to pressure patients to give a next of kin is not appropriate and wrong and they do not need to be contacted for an emergency visit Appalling.
i can't recommend these guys enough, I wouldnt be dead without these guys Shout out to Scott and the ICU team.
My daughter was admitted Saturday after coming off her Pw50 Saturday. The staff in the paediatric ward were amazing. My daughter is still talking about Nurse Maddy and how funny she was. For her first time in a hospital… she was very scared but Maddy and Dr Campbell had a very gentle presence and helped calm her. The Drs who took over were just as good. All round the experience was brilliant and the Doctors were extremely thorough in their examinations.
I would like to sincerely thank and congratulate the entire Cardiac Investigations team. Yesterday was my first experience at a public hospital in Brisbane through Medicare, and I was truly impressed by your… professionalism, kindness, availability and the care you showed throughout every test and examination. I am Italian, born in Rome, and I know how long it can take to access public healthcare in Italy. The level of care and attention I received from you was exceptional. Thank you also for making me feel so reassured and comfortable, especially with the language barrier. Your patience and kindness made a real difference. Thank you to the whole team for taking such wonderful care of me. With sincere gratitude, Stefania Ianniccheri
Id give it less if I could My dad was in for a bit over 2 weeks heart lungs kidneys The 10th of September we got him home He hadn't had any medication since the 8th of September as thats when he was meant to get… discharged I knew on the 9th after being there for an hour he could get discharged, but had many a plan, and also the medications were overwhelming him. At no point did we get notified what the go was, at no point did I specifically with the car and license, (my sister doesnt have either) poor communication, at times no communication, dad told me at 8:30 on the 10th hes still on a restricted water diet, like come on, I understand its busy but im his next of kin and emergency contact and I have no communication or idea of whats going on Oh also he is 77years old now Monday the 7th of September
To the cardiac team who helped my Dad, doctors and nurses and everyone who makes the team what it is. Thank you for your care and professionalism. You took great care of my Dad and we appreciate you all. You give people… second and third chances at life and this is something everyone should be grateful for.
A big thumbs up to all the medical personnel and auxiliary Staff at the Cardiac Investigation Unit 26/27th August, a big thank you from a grateful Patient

nice doctors
17/08/2026 I cant believe that I am doing another one of these. I ended up in hospital again a few days ago with AF and I just had to add to everything I have said below. Once again, most of the staff were absolutely… fantastic, but I especially want to say something about Cardiologist Professor Ranasinghe. What a beautiful man — as were two of the three people in his team. He was patient, smiled, listened, making me feel that I could trust him, and there was no arrogance in him at all, Of course, as a patient, you are scared stiff. But Professor Ranasinghe simply sat down, took the time to listen to my fears, and then prescribed what he felt would help. Thank you, Professor. The fact that you took the time to truly listen to me, and then acted on what I had told you, helped to quieten my heart and, more importantly, helped to quieten my fears. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31 May 2026 Tonight I called for an ambulance to Golden Downs Over 50s Village, and the ambulance arrived very quickly. The paramedics were not only efficient and professional, but they also put me at ease almost immediately. They were friendly, smiling, reassuring, and treated me with kindness throughout the journey. When you are feeling unwell and vulnerable, that sort of care makes a tremendous difference. We arrived at the hospital at 5:03 pm, and from that moment I was attended to promptly by a wonderful team. Dr Annabel Bailey, along with nurses Tulsa, Charlotte, and other nursing staff, making sure I was comfortable and well cared for. Their warmth, compassion, and professionalism helped reduce the stress and fear that often come with a hospital visit. These staff members are truly precious, and I believe their caring attitude plays an important role in the healing process. Thank you all for the outstanding care you provided. I would be grateful if my thanks and appreciation could be passed on to the paramedics, Dr Annabel Bailey, nurses Tulsa, Charlotte, and the other staff members involved in my care. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion made a difficult experience much easier, and I would like them to know how much their care was appreciated. We are often quick to hear about complaints, but not always quick enough to acknowledge excellence. Their kindness and professionalism deserve recognition. .......................................................... I would also like to offer some constructive feedback regarding the hospital environment. Unfortunately, the facility itself appears quite dated, and cleanliness could be greatly improved. On several occasions I have had to step around urine on the floor near the toilets, which is unpleasant and raises concerns about hygiene. I also noticed dust accumulation around fire alarms and other fixtures. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness is particularly important in a healthcare setting, where infection control should be a priority. My experience with the medical and nursing staff was excellent, and I am very grateful for the care I received. I hope that improvements to the facility and its maintenance can match the exceptional standard demonstrated by the people who work there. Thank you, Rae Carman
I was taken to hospital on Tuesday after having dizziness and from the time I arrived the professional way I was treated can only be described as fantastic, from the nurses to doctors and physiotherapist I would just… like to say thanks you are amazing
I’ve just recently spent 5 days in Prince Charles. I was initially in ED where I spent 5 hours before a bed became available in Short Stay! It was an unpleasant experience as I was freezing cold, but the nurse who stood… out above all others with immense care and compassion was Sandin. Thank you Sandin for your kindness and care. My experience in Short Stay was much better (obviously not as busy)! I was taken great care of by an outstanding nurse called Brooke! Thank you Brooke for your intelligence and compassion. From there I was transferred to ward 2A where I spent the next 5 days. All the nurses with the exception of one, were excellent. The outstanding nurses were Peta and Elsa who was warm, caring and made me laugh. I believe love and care are essential to healing. I thank you all for giving this care so generously. My only criticism is the lack of communication between the doctors and nurses. For instance, when treatment was changed the nurses were not always informed! The consulting doctor I never met! Some Registrars were aloof but others more communicative! Thank you to those who took the time to talk to me and didn’t simply treat me as a number! Overall, a good experience.
Staff super helpful and empathetic when I was diagnosed and treated. The volunteer angels made me less nervous and welcomed when I arrived as it is a very busy place. Having spent a fair bit of time in the wards, every… single nurse on shift ( and I would have seen 30 or more) was upbeat, professional and tried their hardest. I saw a few very demanding and outright obnoxious patients, fueled by pain no doubt, but still the nurses were patient and civil. Proud of our public health system.
10hrs in the ER with no answers.
What an incredible hospital. Cardiology has been amazing - from Specialist, teams of doctors and happy, singing attendants. Special mention to the lovely, friendly Margy from Prince Charles Pathology who made blood… testing, as much as possible, a painless experience - thank you is not enough. Nurses Anita, and Gissella are just amazing. If you’re unwell, these two are the best to have around. Beautiful ladies - caring and respectful. Other nurses have been excellent too, but unsure of their names. Food services are excellent too, with room service available. Sharyn Miller
I have arrived Prince charles hospital at 9:30 am with severe back pain . They made me sit on the sitting are for 5 hours giving me pain killers. This sitting position made my back worsen and i have called by a doctor… after 5 hours. The only thing the doctor said was we need to do MRI to see if there is any thing wrong and they can’t do it at the hospital, I need to take it from outside. If this is the case why are we paying all the tax money for medical services as we need to wait hours and hours in sitting area with all the pain (can’t even give a bed for patients in pain) and ended up saying we need to take the service from outside.
WARD 1A... This nurse name Issy👎 OMG!! how rude is she🚫. Very arrogant. I asked a nurse earlier if I could use a charger for my phone. Because my dad was meant to get discharged early this morning. She kindly put a… charger together for me. As phone communication from me and my family is important so I can keep them updated. I handed it back around 3.30pm as we were told to pack up and we were getting discharged. I need to use the charger again as it is 6.30pm. But Nurse Issy who thinks she is the Queen B nurse here said no. They not allowed to hand out chargers and phone has to be charged over there counter. But a kinder nurse gave me one before??? Customer service and empathy is very important especially to people that are in the hospital going through difficult situations. Nasty Nurse Issy needs to be retrained. She rushes through her instructions and talks to patients like they are stupid. Not good enough!!! Please get back to me. I will go to keep emailing up the ladder until this is addressed with Nurse Issy.
My doctor refered me to the emergency department for a MRI on my lower back. So I had to travel over an hour with a slipped disk then sit in the waiting room for 2 hours for them to say I didn't have the criteria for an… MRI. So the nurse decided he new more than my doctor. This nurse who had spoken to me for 30 seconds new better than my doctor who has treated me for years. I will now have to wait another week to get a MRI with imed. This wasa horrible experience and I do not recommend going to this useless hospital
This week, I had a two-night stay at the PCH for a suspected heart condition. As with my previous stay this year, the Cardiac care was excellent. I had complete faith in the staff, except perhaps for one RN who seemed a… bit confused and misinformed towards the end of my stay. But overall, the staff's care was wonderful. I didn't feel at all that I constantly had to advocate for myself. And they were thoughtful right through until the very end. But I have three issues: 1) the staff-generated noise at night, shouting to each other down the corridors; 2) the food - more often than not inedible; 3) It seems that all staff had been instructed to address patients as 'Darling'. On my last day, I was especially embarrassed for a lovely Student Nurse, probably in her early 20s, who asked, "How are you going, Darling?" She at least had the dignity to look embarrassed. I don't understand why the PCH would adopt such an appallingly patronising policy. I would like to discuss this further with you, face-to-face, and will promise to call you 'Darling' throughout any meeting. It is a dreadful put-down that says indirectly, "You are a child". But if I recall, the Cardiac Surgery staff refrained from this. Judith O'Byrne UR: 0350825
I checked myself into emergency at Prince Charles hospital on Wednesday as I’m prone to getting HG (severe vomitting in pregnancy) and I wanted to get ahead of things this time before they became too severe. I had just… started vomitting a few times a day and couldn’t keep much down and I was terrified as I’ve experienced this before and knew I was about to get to stage of being extremely ill. I was wanting to be put on a hydration drip as I hadn’t had barely any fluids in 2 days and was trying to get ahead of the extreme dehydration. Well, after 7 hours and barley being seen or acknowledged by anyone, I was told that my bloods didn’t show anything lacking yet so they weren’t going to do anything (apart from giving me a script for 4mg of ondanstatron an anti nausea drug - I’m already on a dose much higher than that from my GP and it doesn’t even touch the symptoms of HG). I never even got seen by a Doctor the entire time I was there, only a Senior Nurse Practitioner, who was very unsympathetic and had no understanding of the severity of HG. Fast forward 4 days later and my HG is in full swing with severe vomitting (15+ times a day) and extreme dehydration due to not being able to keep down any water or food. I’ve lots faith in medical care due to the treatment I received at Prince Charles earlier in the week and just hoping there’s a better emergency department who can help.
During my stay at the psychiatric unit a security member stole my watch and never gave it back upon my discharge. I am upset.
This hospital is a absolutely disgusting they have made me waiting hours l need to go toilet ive been dumped in a wheelchair every time I've made contact with a nurse they turn away from l prefer to be dead then putting… up owth this disgrace. After l dealt with the 2nd time an now l will not ever step foot in medical care after today 17/6/2026 so ive stopped all my meds for my heart an l absolutely they do not work
