CSU Polara Health Reviews and Ratings
CSU Polara Health in Prescott Valley can be understood partly through its license and accreditation, and partly through what patients say. Read their reviews here, and leave one if you have been in treatment at the facility.
I am incredibly thankful for this facility as well as the wonderfully generous & kind front desk staff I encountered there - they truly deserve every star in my power to present them with! My husband and I are not from… the area but were visiting nearby, when he realized he needed a fast solution to obtain his usual medication (which he had not been able to take in 2 weeks due to loss of insurance). We immediately felt very fortunate and relieved to find a conveniently located crisis management center that was open 24/7 and also had a program for receiving free emergency assistance in regards to his mental health care. The program did require that he admit himself to the facility for the night, leaving me with the only option of spending the night in our car, parked in the facility parking lot. And given the importance of his health and the necessity of the situation, I had no objection. He was able to get through the admission process fairly quickly and gave me a call afterwards to let me know all was well and the staff had already made him feel welcome and more at ease. Unfortunately, it was not long after that point that I went to start our car and discovered the battery was dead, and my cell phone quickly followed suit. (Because even in the dry desert of AZ, you can STILL count on it pouring whenever it rains! lol) Long story short; the staff not only let me use their restroom a couple times before my husband was discharged next day, they immediately offered to help jumpstart my car as soon as they heard the situation, and even gave me a lunch sack (which, btw, contained a delicious turkey sandwich & some other goodies) since I hadn't been able to leave or do anything else for about 16 hours while hubby was admitted. We are now safe and sound back at home, and we will both be able to rest easy tonight knowing that my husband has his mental health needs taken care of for at least another month. ❤️ Thank you to everyone at Polara Health for extending your care and your hearts to a couple people who really needed it!!

The receptionists are so incredibly rude. For a mental health facility they don't care. I'm looking for somewhere else. I give Polara Health 0.
My family my whole life has been making me look unwell and sending me here this is the worst in the whole entire United States too get help I was in foster care when I was 12 and went back too my same abusive house hold… no one has ever taken me seriously because my father is abusing me and making me lash out my mother has abandon me and I have abusive family members on both sides I have never escaped because I had a low self esteem but I’m taking care of myself and avoiding them this is the worst time for mentally ill and substances abuser they keep teaching us the wrong ways to get better I’m doing everything I can do this is a huge sign of injustice because I’ve always been trying too take care of myself but for some reason they keep sending me too theses places as a sign of punishment both sides of my family like making look mentally ill a lot of hospitals know I have a extreme case of complex ptsd
A much needed service to the community. Once I brought my granddaughter and they helped set up a plan for us and another time my son for detox services. I am very thankful they were available
On emergency the nurse wanted to make me wait all night for detox type meds because she did not want to call the doctor trying to make me sick and suffer and Maggi who works their doesn't do her job is disrespectful and… theor staff made me cash pay meds for 4 months Strait shorting every month because they cannot count right or send a proper prior authorization with the script for months. They Suck I'm switching
It's absolutely a nightmare to get anyone to answer the phone, call back, or attend a meeting *they* requested to be scheduled. I realize that they are short staffed, but there is absolutely no excuse for such a lack of… communication - especially when they expect their patients to be able to clearly communicate. Perhaps they should assign 1 or 2 people to return messages, or have nurses, case managers, and social works help on their downtime.
I voluntarily checked in on a Friday and was told I would be able to speak to a caseworker and a doctor. It wasn’t until that Sunday that I actually spoke to only a doctor and that lasted all of 5 minutes. Except for… the following 5 min. Physical. I had been feeling suicidal which was why I had gone in the first place. I have a nine-year-old daughter and the doctor had told me had I attempted suicide CPS would have stepped in and my daughter would’ve been taken away from me because it would’ve been considered child abuse. Talk about making me feel even worse than I already had in the first place for wanting to take my life for being in so much pain. What a horrible thing to say to me. I asked if I could check myself out since I had come in voluntarily and she said absolutely not. She wasn’t going to release me. I hadn’t felt suicidal since Saturday. And I've never wanted to leave a place so badly in my life. She said I could refuse treatment but if I did that she would get a court order to keep me there so I wouldn't be able to leave anyway. I felt like a prisoner there and had no way out. My anxiety was through the roof. I had brought in my own medication and the nurses had screwed that up every single day that I was there. I'm glad I had paid close enough attention as so many people in there were barely coherent. You literally sat in front of a TV for 14 hours a day. There was no help and no one to talk to. No type of group therapy and you weren't even allowed outside for fresh air. Talk about making a depressed person even worse. I’m not sure what they meant by a "treatment plan". But I certainly didn’t get one. And to top it all off I never did speak to a case manager. I will never check myself into another hospital again. My experience at Polara Health was beyond horrible. I feel sorry for anyone who ends up in that terrible place.
was sent here when i was 18, and it was genuinely the worst week of my life. it felt like a literal prison. we weren’t allowed outside at all, the windows were frosted so we couldn’t even see outside, there were no… group therapies or anything at all. we were confined in a single room for the entirety of our stay, maybe 400 square feet. all they do is pump you with medication with little to no resources to actually get better. all we could do was sit down and keep our eyes glued to the tv. hours felt like days, days felt like weeks, and the week i was there felt like a month. the only difference between this place and a prison is you have a tv. the only positive thing i can say about this place is you have access to the phone 24/7, but that is literally it. i wish i was being dramatic.
They care for people who are at a crisis point and do the very best they can in very trying situations. I'm thankful for everything they do for our community.
Horrible experience. Extremely rude staff. Their #1 focus is meds and not to help. Staff lied to my husband when he called to check on me multiple times. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Aweful care facility, have been borderline abusive to a loved one that was sent there. Refused to provide access to their health belongings such as contacts or invisalign retainer, refused to communicate with me about… them or their belongings (i am their emergency contact) and have said aweful things to them such as “to stop calling them your probably annoying them” in regards to calling they’re significant other.
Jordan saved my life. I thought I had passed and was entering through the gates of Heaven, being greeted by none other than one of the Lord’s angels. My fears banished, pain removed, scars healed, Jordan’s loving care… restored me to return to strength and keep brawling the grand brawl. Before Jordan took notice of me, helped me with his warm touch, I felt alone and hopeless each time I had cried out for assistance before. I was like a water poloist who couldn’t swim, a blade of grass trampled by Komodo dragons, a horse with no hooves. Thank you to this great place and to Jordan for going above and beyond!
They do not assist with any treatment or try to help you, only provide condescending attitudes and tell you all the reasons they can NOT help you. Make you sit and wait for hours, when I asked for an update I was left… ignored for 45 minutes while Henry was "busy in the back". I do not recommend this place to anybody that is genuinely seeking help. Update: over a month later and NOBODY has reached out from polara to resolve this matter. Your generic response to save face wasn't helpful
"I would rather come off of methamphetamines twice over than have to be off my meds cold Turkey like this again." That was me at 0803 this morning because West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation otherwise known as… Polara Health formerly West Yavapai Guidance Clinic can't seem to figure out how to KEEP MY REFILLS STOCKED and I called their "ambassadors" who've just sent me to the psychiatric nurses line which A. Goes straight to voicemail and B. They can still take up to TWO BUSINESS DAYS to get back to you. Not to mention the head psychiatrist for their Crisis Stabliization Unit (CSU) is transphobic and/or will say "oh you weren't really suicidal, you were just being overly emotional." The ONLY freaking reason I'm still with them is my therapist is working so hard to help me but she works for a broken system.
