"I went here when I was 17 because I kept running away from other group homes, and I'm 36 now. This place was not the best, but not the worst. It was a makeshift boot camp where they would scream in your face. I'm… pretty sure they only hired failed drill sergeants, and the food they served was crap—who boils bagged eggs in a pot? I don't know if it has changed any since then, but anyone placing their child here, or the state actually putting children here, is a joke at best."
When I was 16 I spent roughly 9 and a half months at the "Cumberland adventure program" here. I am now 25, no criminal record, and live a functional adult life as a contributer to society. That is not in thanks to this… place. I am now 25, and occasionally still have nightmares, as if I am still trapped here, stuck here, as if i never left. They happened often when I was younger and only left me damaged. The abuses I endured and witnessed here haunt me to this day and only intense self reflection has allowed me to cope with it. This place did not help me, i doubt it could help anyone. It only destroyed me, and I had to rebuild what was left of myself, alone. Sincerely, P-10 #breakingcodesilence
