Straight and Amp Narrow, Inc – Paterson Detox and Rehab Services
Recorded services at Straight and Amp Narrow, Inc – Paterson are detox and residential treatment. Medical supervision covers the withdrawal period, where alcohol and benzodiazepines carry real risk. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.
The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

I read all the posted reviews prior to writing mine. I attended S&N in February of 2018. I'm not going to say it was the best program I ever attended ( yes I'm a repeat offender). I the have been exposed to upscale top… of the line rehabs as well as some bottom of the barrel "abandoish" type rehabs. I've come to realize that it's not about where you go as much as it's about your mindset once you're there. Now I do think that all facilities should all share some basic standards. I don't believe anyone should have to request cleanliness, professionalism and positive support and recovery. However with that being said some people are focusing on the wrong things & use those very things as an excuse for their lack of recovery. If you really want to get clean you will, no matter where you are. A lot of these reviews are written by individuals who seem as though they don't want recovery they want to be victims. Whining like babies it's sickening and ridiculous. It's quite laughable as well as sad. Than the audacity of peoples family members to get on her & say such ridiculous shit as well. I hope all those kids who said all the negative shit are sober & living they're best lives. I doubt it but I would think they would be since I would definitely think they would never want to experience such horrible things ever again. Never imagined I'd be saying this but thank you, thank you S&N God bless you all!
Horrible place they have mice running around food has roaches the director Mark treats people like shit they tell everyone your business and they lack in medical attention I was court mandated but I would never go back… I rather sit in jail and wait for another program they hold your cigarettes you can’t have vapes they are all around horrible
This place was traumatizing. I wish I never step foot here. I was warned not to come here but went anyway. This place needs to be shut down. It’s very unorganized and the staff is very unprofessional. The staff tells… other peoples business breaking hippa rules. They also refused to give me my property when I left.I will be letting the state know about this horrible place.
N 1991 I was in the juvenile program for 14 months , we had to stand and pick foam into a barrel all day without talking
This program is one of the worst programs I ever seen in my life. I literally just left there and they discharge me because I got into altercation mind you I never physically hit anyone, but I have seen people that have… and still was able to stay., They bring up my mom being in a mental illness state when she came up there, which was very unprofessional because I thought the organization was not supposed to do that because that is confidentiality The staff there is very mean unprofessional, and the whole program is unorganized. It was plenty of times I wrote write ups in grievance On the staff there to my counselor and I continue to do it and steal nothing was done.
Great place for men in recovery.
At first thought, I thought I was pulling into a parking lot for an abandon building. Turned out it was the correct parking lot for Straight and Narrow visits. Facility was in an extreme state of distress. If you care… anything about the conditions your love ones will be living in than this is not the place. Squeezing every penny out of New Jersey tax payers as they can. They're not about the people, they're about the money.
I'm ONLY giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because my counselor Grace was helpful. The RL Staff (there are always exceptions, but for the most part) treated us awful. I've never been anywhere that it was acceptable to… yell/curse at clients, discuss clients with other clients; in the Mommy & Me, the women were forced to spend 2+ hours in the "wellness center" with their children with absolutely NOTHING to do, & not even enough chairs for everyone. I didn't care about the food and the physical aspects of the facility, but the groups were mostly pointless, the staff incredibly unprofessional, and it was very sad that kids were stuck in their strollers all day. There were fights all the time and it was client vs client, client vs staff, and nothing was done to truly address the issues. I grew a lot there because I focused on my goals and it does allow clients to accumulate some clean time, but it is NOT a place to go if you really need outside help or really want to learn about how to grow in recovery.
If you looking for some bougie rehab, this is not for you. This is a place where people go court ordered from Dyfus Or drug Or drug court. But it’s not that bad what is bad is their mommy and me program.
Straight & Narrow is not perfect, but neither is anyone. They have they're flaws and imperfections just like I do. If the place was absolutely perfect people would find something to complain about. It's just how it… goes. I had a warm bed, hot food, and although the groups were limited, it was my choice to attend more than I was scheduled to go to. So that's what I did. People complained about group time and then complained about down time because they were bored.. I guess it's a journey that is decided individually. I opted to go to every group everyday and every opportunity I had I would volunteer for things to do to help. I was rarely bored and always looked forward to the weekdays rather than weekends because I liked the groups. They didn't keep me longer than originally discussed when I arrived as others were saying. But then again, maybe others didn't participate to their potential or maybe others didn't take the initiative to show their counselors what their intentions were. Some people want to get better and some people are court ordered to be there. The. Some, like me, were court ordered but wanted to get better. I completed a relapse prevention plan to present to my counselor and constantly asked her for more work books to better myself so she knew my intention was authentic. I guess I just felt that it was important for me to clarify my experience there because nobody pointed out anything positive, here's something. THE PLACE GAVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT AND IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO YOUR RECOVERY, YOUR DOOMED TO REPEAT HISTORY. The only shot we have is inside of us, the four walls doesn't mean a whole lot. it's your personal motivation.. Ask yourself what you want more and why. Thank you straight & narrow for the opportunity to take advantage of your program and I couldn't be more pleased with the majority of the staff. My counselor, Emily, was a super helpful person and important role in my early recovery. She challenged my answers, which I respect, and she also made me be accountable for my own recovery. She Cares, that's ultimately how I feel about her and I can't thank her enough. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants recovery and isn't worried more about the color of the paint or what mattress they have, that person probably doesn't want recovery to begin with....
Karma
If I could give it 0 stars I would. Not because of the mice, not because of the residential life staff that talk down and belittle you such as yahira (jahira) not sure the spelling; when you are at your lowest point in… life, not because there is zero recovery there as well as being an addict mill for drug court, probation and dyfs, not because the food is half raw all the time and has zero nutritional value, not because in alpha 3 where there is children there is nothing to do for them. Not because they will hold you there as long as possible for more profit, or because as the own employees tell you they still benefits from you. I would give it a zero because of one person who really made the experience truly traumatic and horrible Ladrunda Gary. The residential life staff supervisor strived to hurt the alpha 3 unit where the mothers were. Honestly it felt personal as if she did it because she had some kind of resentment against mothers in recovery.
My family member reports..staff was very rude and very prejudiced , I wouldn't send my dog there on his best day. This place should be condemned and the health department should step in and look at this place, there's… mice all over the place, there's children running around in the mice infested building, there is not enough fire extinguishers per flooh.ere's not you have to walk outside to go to group, through drug alley. I would not look into this place it's more of a homeless shelter than a rehab.
Just tried to call to get some information about their facility, long-term rehab for an adult male. I spoke to a man with yes or no answers absolutely no contribution to anything I was saying. Very dry and told me there… was a waiting list of 20 people in front of a relative that would want to go. Asked me zero questions which gives me an indication of what kind of place this is.
THEY HELP IT'S RIGHT OFF THE TRAIN STATION AND A PLUS TO ME IS THE GENTLEMEN'S CLUB IS RIGHT THERE
Worse place staff is very unprofessional , i survived 6 months at the mommy and me . Wont recommend this place to anyone .
How is this place still open? I was a client in the Mommy and Me program for 6 months. I recieved the worst pre-natal care, i was forced to eat expired food. They force toddlers to stay strapped in strollers all day.… The facility should be deemed un-livable. rotting floors, mold, mice, exposed wires, rat traps where the children are kept. DISRESPCTFUL STAFF. My counselor LISA BUSSANICH and her supervisor JASMINE SCOTT falsified documents. No treatment is offered, the schedule they provide DCP&P isnt accurate. They are unprofessional and i almost didnt make it to the hospital when i was in labor. Staff curse and attack clients. not safe for children. THE STATE NEEDS TO SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN
I was a client in Alpha 1 (women's unit) for 10 months from September of 2020-August of 2021. My experience was horrendous. Straight and Narrow is ran by Catholic charities and they don't care about the clients or the… program. Ignorant uncaring counselors and management, floor staff cusses clients put on the daily and shows little to no respect for clients well being or privacy. MEDICAL staff is rude and arrogant and dismisses any health concerns you may have. It took 2 months to get a prescription for a bladder infection.. Mold everywhere, MICE all over, always. The food is half rotten. The building itself is in shambles with wires hanging from the ceiling. The actual program offers mandatory groups that aren't unique at all. The same criteria is forced upon you in every group. No therapy. You see a psych doctor once every 2 mo if you're lucky. HORRIBLE PLACE. DONT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES.
🤥cov19 test eh,eh
