UPMC Northwest – Seneca Reviews and Ratings
A licensing record says what UPMC Northwest is permitted to do. Reviews from patients and their families say what treatment in Seneca was like, and those accounts are collected in this section.
Most likely known for the medical equipment available. I’m getting a MRI and had X-rays two weeks ago. Very friendly technicians. Not so professional or educated Physicians Assistants in the Emergency Room. Several past… visits for my father. Stapled head wound poorly and had to ask someone to clean the blood from the wound. 😢
Believe all the bad reviews I can go back to 2006 when they gave me nerve damage in my back after an epidural while having my son and today they treat the patients like trash in the er well atleast the super hero PA… Alexa and I never saw a Doctor at the ER probably wasn’t even one there also she put in my file she looked down my throat and both ears she lied!!!! And they should be charged criminally for that, its malpractice and they don’t care!
I was there last night, very bad pain in abdomen. The doctors and nurses were all great. The doctor came in said he would get me on a fast acting pain relief, 45min later he walked by and asked me if it helped the pain,… I told him no one ever came in to administer it. He got a nurse on it right away. After scan they found inflamed appendix, took me to a room. The weekend surgeon around the next morning around 8. He told me he has to do surgery. I said the doctor earlier said it was a little inflamed and his mood instantly turned. Im a surgeon, he is a doctor, I said you need surgery. I asked him how long, and you could hear he was agitated by questions. 1 hour you will go home in a day or so. I asked him if there is a possibility I can schedule a surgery, this he DID NOT LIKE! Well I'll send you home on antibiotics, good luck to you and he walked out. Not sure how the nurse with him could even let him talk the way he did, very ignorant. I waited and waited for the release papers, nurse and nurse kept coming in to try to do more tests. I asked 3 nurses to remind the surgeon of the release papers, 3!!!! He never did get them. I left. I have filed a report and will file with the medical licensing board on monday. This guys attitude was basically, Im a surgeon, you do what I say. Nothing about trying to listen to the patient. Looking the surgeon up, he has had prior complaints as well. Why do they hire surgeons like this? I have always had a good experience with this UPMC. All the staffing and doctors have been awesome, try to help you as much as they can. They genuinely care about your well being and then you get this surgeon, not putting his name here publicaly but still, Weekend general surgeon, NOT the regular weekday surgeons! The bad part is, I have to go back here but trying to wait for monday, I do NOT ever want to see that weekend surgeon guy ever again!
Sat five hours just to not be seen
Poor experience
Behavioral health patients are allowed to do pretty much whatever they want , so not much rehabilitation going on in there! The nurses are so complacent with the patients to make their jobs easier & in doing that the… patients don’t get proper treatment
I have not personally been at this location but the office that I work at communicates with this Hospital a lot and every time I call here, whether it's the medical records department, the scheduling department, or… literally any department, anyone I speak to is lovely and very helpful. No one realizes how relieving it is to call somewhere and be greeted with a warm welcome and feel like they are not a bother. There are a lot of other places that I call that make me feel like I am a bother. I appreciate your staff and their kindness!
Following a prompt visit to the mental facility within this hospital, I was discharged
I was taken and seen/imaged relatively quickly on a Wednesday evening. All staff were extremely courteous, apart from PCT Kathy who was pleasant with me in room/face to face. But when I asked for one additional scan she… went out into the hall to pass this request along to the doctor, where she was out of my direct view- but where my loved one could still see her. He said that she had rolled her eyes regarding this when asking. Not only is that unprofessional and inappropriate, but feels two faced to do behind a patients back. Just because a worker doesn’t think or believe that a patient can’t see them, doesn’t mean that others such as their loved ones won’t either. I do understand that employees may have to deal with a lot at work, and have consideration for that and other cases they’ve seen. but really? Gain control of your face and rude expressions. It is completely unnecessary, especially when someone is in pain and discomfort. The request was granted right away by the doctor. I do have to say that the CT scan girls were great. The patient assistant was so friendly and warm. Unfortunately I didn’t get their names. Nurse Niccole was absolutely amazing too, she had fantastic bedside manner, was friendly and efficient and administered a shot with guidance and technique that helped to reduce pain. Overall was a great visit despite the unfortunate circumstances I was seen there under.
I have PTLDS (post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome) and severe dysautonomia. On March 13th, I went to this ER for a physiological panic attack/hypergenergic POTS. I explained to them that I had neuroborreliosis… (Neurological Lyme) and I'm only 9 months post-treatment. My nervous system is extremely dysregulated and my panic attacks are physiological, not psychological. They looked at me like I was crazy, put me in a white room with nothing in it, injected me with an anti-psychotic called Haldol (along with Valium and benadryl), sent me home diagnosed with a panic attack and "behaviourally agitated" along with "marked bradycardia", to which I spent half my night with increased anxiety/akathisia and heart palpitations in spite of the Valium. Also, I struggled walking for 3 days because of the Valium's extremely long half life. I expressed my discomfort with the medications they were going to administer, and I was treated as if I was "being difficult" and asked if I was "refusing my meds". Essentially, I was treated like a psychiatric patient and not a person in a real medical crisis. All of the doctors and nurses looked to be younger than me (and I'm 25), fresh out of college, and absolutely clueless as to what my medical issues are. Do better UPMC. This is the second time my medical, physiological issues have been treated as psychiatric issues despite me openly and clearly communicating my issues and needs.
Talk about your bag of mixed nuts! Some of the ER staff was AMAZING, but the bad has to be told: when we refused to have a nasal swab, the doctor tried to be intimidating and virtue signaling about how inconvenient, and… potentially life-threatening, it was for us to refuse, then an nurse aid came in to do the swab we had refused and she threw the unopened swab onto the floor and stormed out of the room. VERY PROFESSIONAL. The majority of the staff were truly compassionate and actually RESPECTED OUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE, while the others acted just like most did during the Covid pandemic. I can tell you, we as human beings have the RIGHT TO SAY NO. If others cannot respect that, they should not be in healthcare. Be courteous, or go home. Do better!
I went in the other day to get some labs ran. I dont come to the lab to often because I haven't had much luck with anyone who knows how to properly draw blood. (im anemic i get labs done at hilman every 4 weeks with no… issue what so ever!) When the girl took me back I showed her where my best vein was and she went to go put the need in and she stabbed me like someone throwing darts at a dart board in a bar who pissed at their ex. I have NEVER in my life had someone so aggressively put the needle in my arm before. Whe she did it scared me I jumped and said what the hell and she still didn't get any blood from me even After fishing for a vein. I really think this hospital needs to PROPERLY TRAIN PEOPLE BEFORE ALLOWING THEM TO TAKE PEOPLES BLOOD. This isnt the first issue I have had in the lab just most recent and crazy. Please stop hiring people off the street who have no clue what they are doing. Also bring back professionalism back when had been ok to wear facial piercings in a medical setting?!
I had my baby here and staff couldn't be better. Everyone was so sweet and caring of myself and my baby. They're super good at what they do and I cant express how good my stay was. There's not one person who was less… than amazing.
We've always had first rate service, from the front desk on through. The staff and technicians are outstanding...
ER is disastrous! Not just for me, but for everyone that was in the waiting room. We ALL had to wait up to 5 to 6 hours. There was a family there that had 2 small children! There were a few people that left after… waiting 6 hours including the family with young children. That should NEVER be!
Just had a pacemaker generator replacement with Dr.Ward, he was amazing and was super patient with everything that was going on. Dr. Martin was my anesthesiologist. He was super sweet to and walked me through the… possible anesthesia that we would be using. All of my nurses went above and beyond with me! Emily (my pre-op nurse) we were talking and making jokes, she did everything correct to make me less nervous. She was absolutely AMAZING! Erin (my post-op nurse) was also phenomenal, she was asking how I was doing once I woke up and came too. She ended up telling my mom and boyfriend who were waiting for me that I was a hoot and gave all the nurses a good laugh. Stormi (my OR nurse) she was super sweet and was super gentle when in the OR (from what i remember) last but not least my nurse Amanda who helped Dr.Martine with anesthesia. EVERYONE on my team went above and beyond for me and I couldn’t thank them all enough! They all deserve to be up for an award of some sort and definitely deserve to have a raise. As someone who grew up in hospitals, I respect all medical personal. They deserve so much more! THANK YOU UPMC!
This past July I had what looked to be a bite that was swollen and red. I had a headache, body aches a fever. I went to the UPMC-ER as it was a Sunday. The Dr told me I had shingles. I told him I've NEVER had chicken… pox so I can't have shingles. He insisted in his "professional opinion" I had shingles. He preceded to give me medicine for shingles and orders for a titers for shingles and wound care. For this I was charged $150 for my copay. The next day the bullseye showed up and I went to my pcp and he said it was definitely a tick bite and I got the doxicycline just in time. Thanks to UPMC for the misdiagnosis and they refuse to reimburse me for the waste of my copay money. Now I'm trying to figure out how to not be taken there if for some reason I'm not conscience. This was an easy diagnoses. I told him what it was and why it could not be what he thought. And still they fumbled it. What happens if I can't communicate. We deserve better in this area. And I had to give at least a 1 star 🌟. If I could it would be a negative score.
This is the worse upmc hospital ever don't come here. Came into er with my 13yr who had a pain level of 8-9 with severe abdominal pain. We sat in the waiting room for 2hrs. People were there before us yes but they had… coughs and got called back before us. Then some guys walks in like nothing is wrong and gets taken back before my child in severe pain amd tears. I was 2mins from walking out and driving to another upmc when they called us back. This is the final draw with this hospital never again.
I delivered my baby girl there in September and I have to say the OB nurses are so wonderful. They treated me, my husband and our baby girl so well. I had the worst anxiety about having to stay in a hospital and these… nurses made that stay alot less scary! The doctors and pediatricians were lovely also but I spent more time with the nurses. If you are planning on having a baby anytime soon I 1000% recommend UPMC Northwest.
My SO was in for a surgery and after waking up was brought to a room for recovery that I was allowed in before they brought her. After bringing her in they asked in front of me some of their regular questions and must… be included was to ask the does she feel safe at home question. I think it's great to ask that but to ask in front of me and not when she was alone is horrendous to me. What if I were abusive and she didn't feel safe to answer with me listening. They never asked her at any other point only the time in front of me. It is insane that's how it's handled. Who knows how many people may not have been able to get help or won't in the future if this is common practice.
Showed up for a scheduled mammogram, and they lost my appointment in their system. I have medical anxiety, so this was just great. They didn't care. Just acted like it was my fault for showing up. Then the lady at the… desk said "Well, we probably lost you in the system when they switched systems recently. Here's a number of you want to see if they can fit you in sometime today, but their schedule is full." Like it was no big deal and that I was an inconvenience to them.
This place has gone to hell I've been sitting here for 4 hours and my grandson has a severe allergic reaction. Time to find a new hospital.
I'm here now I have a horrible horrible infection I've sat here for 5 hrs the staff are lazy I asked one nurse 4 separate times for a drink and pretty much got lied to go anywhere else the place is a joke it's been five… hrsss and they still haven't admitted me
This was the worst hospital experience I have ever had. My son came to the ER with a broken humerus. The ER staff was the rudest I have ever seen especially the way blue haired Amanda treated him. She told him to suck… it up and get out of the bed he is basically an adult. They just wanted to send him home. Now we have been sitting waiting all day and they think now he may have nerve damage but haven’t got us transported for a surgery. He is still in severe pain and this is completely unacceptable.! The nursing staff on the third floor has been great I dont want a bad reflection on them.
Took my 6 year old into the ER, sat for almost 2 hours and never even seen anyone besides to give them my insurance info. The women taking my childs information got an attitude that I didn't bring his social security… card. After that we went out to sit down and had to tell someone that there was blood all over a chair. While we were waiting there were tons of people coming out, not a single one got taken back. There was someone there with a major face injury in a wheel chair that wet himself because not one person came to see him. Then the girl that came out to clean it up was cracking jokes about it with the gaurd. I'm sure he was embarrassed enough. After waiting another hour with no movement and witnessing the unprofessionalism we decided to go elsewhere seeing as there was multiple people in front of us and they were still waiting for something to happen too.
My husbands grandmother sadly passed today. She was a patient in the ICU and the care she received from her nurses and doctors was wonderful! I regret not getting each of their names but I honestly wasn’t thinking about… it at the time. Caring and helpful to us but more so to my husband’s grandma. I am so glad she spent her final days surrounded by such caring people. Thanks so much!
Provided me an excellent level of care
