Nice people, clean place
I was born here around 41 years ago. Not really sure how the birth went, but I’m still alive so five stars.
Hello I was taken care of today 11/20/2025 and I was treated with compassion from Dr.Mitchell and Ms. Riohanna ( RN) she is the BEST !
On 10-10-2025, I went to the ER because my neck pain, which is normally around a 4 or 5 on the pain scale, had shot up to a 10 and was unbearable. I already have a compression fracture in my C6 vertebra, so I was… terrified something had gotten worse. I wasn’t there for pain meds — I just wanted diagnostic testing to figure out what was going on. While I was sitting on the side of the bed crying and trying to get comfortable, Dr. Tanya Mitchell came flying into the room, talking a mile a minute. The first thing she asked was why I was there — typical and expected — but the assumptions started immediately after. Her next question was why I didn’t have an orthopedic doctor (I do) and what kind of pain medicine he prescribes. I told her he doesn’t prescribe pain medication; he advised, and I agreed, that naproxen (prescribed by my PCP) and Tylenol (OTC) were appropriate for my chronic pain. Her response? “So did you come here for a refill of your naproxen?” Side note: If naproxen and Aleve weren’t the same thing, I wouldn’t have been so offended. If I wanted more naproxen, I would have gone to Walmart, not the ER. I was so shocked I didn’t even know what to say at first. I told her no, then tried to explain that I came because the pain was unbearable and I needed to know if the compression fracture had worsened or if there was a new problem with the implanted disc in my neck. But she just kept firing off questions — at least twenty in under a minute — and I could barely keep up. I was already in tears, and by that point, I was so overwhelmed and confused that I almost had a panic attack. She wasn’t listening; she was just running through her list. The whole time, she was questioning me like I was lying. She asked for my orthopedic surgeon’s name and kept saying she was going to call him — at least five different times — in a tone that made it sound like she didn’t believe me. I told her to go ahead and call him, but she just kept looking at me like I was making it all up. Then she said she was going to request my MRI report. I tried to explain that the radiologist was in the middle of adding an addendum to fix errors in the report, meaning she’d be getting outdated information, but she didn’t care. She went ahead and requested it anyway. Eventually, I managed to convince her to order a CT scan. When she came back later, she had a huge smile on her face and told me, “Your neck is fine.” Then she handed me discharge papers that said “musculoskeletal pain” and “anxiety disorder.” I couldn’t believe it. I know something’s wrong — I literally have a compression fracture according to an X-ray I had on September 30, 2025, at the North Louisiana Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic in Monroe. The whole experience made me feel humiliated, dismissed, and completely disrespected. Being treated like a drug seeker when you’re just desperate for help is one of the worst feelings in the world. It made my pain worse and was a complete waste of time and emotional energy. If the CT scan truly showed no compression fracture in my C6 vertebra, I’d suggest getting that machine serviced — stat. If anyone cares to verify what I’m saying, my orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Standley Crawford, and I see him at the clinic mentioned above. Update with Supporting Image: I’ve included a photo from my own CT scan (taken 10/10/2025), the same study where the radiology report stated “vertebral heights and alignment appear normal.” If you look at the area marked with the red arrow, you can clearly see the anterior portion of the C6 vertebra is significantly lower than the superior endplate, creating a wedge-shaped appearance. This is exactly what most radiologists would describe as a compression fracture. It’s extremely concerning that something this obvious on imaging could be dismissed as “normal alignment,” especially given the severity of my ongoing pain and the documented findings of implant subsidence.
This hospital is absolutely ridiculous. Dr. Mitchell is a sorry excuse for a doctor. I went in on Monday May 12th because of my right ear was swollen and very painful. She looked at both ears and I ended up having an… ear infection in my right ear. And she said my left one looked good. Come Wednesday after taking the oral antibiotics plus the drops exactly how they said to, my left ear became so swollen I could barely hear out of it. She came in the room with a terrible attitude and shoved the ear thing in my ear so bad that I screamed and started crying. She then proceeded to say stay on the antibiotics like I said and a harsh tone and walked out. I broke down from the pain, embarrassment, and discouragement, and walked out. As I was leaving I heard a very condensending bye from the nurses station. The ER staff is a joke. They should not have their medical license or be able to work in that field.
So after sitting here 4hrs we are finally about to leave. I think, but guess what they DO NOT GIVE DOCTOR EXCUSES!! NOT FOR SCHOOL OR WORK!! Like I said before DONT EVER EVER EVER GO HERE! You wouldn't get the help you… need, Doctor excuses or get out of the ER anytime soon. But if you want to be crazy then go ahead, but you can't say I didn't tell you.
They take FOREVER!! I would understand if they were busy, but there not busy. There just sitting around and not working. I had to go and get my own pee cup because I waited 15mins and she never came back. Now I'm… waiting on xray because they want to make sure that I'm not pregnant. But i got a shot with out a pregnancy test, but it doesn't matter because the shot didn't help. I even told them i can't have anymore kids. I have been here for 3hrs and I don't see me getting out of here anytime soon. Please trust me and go somewhere else.
I gave an earlier review that I should have directed my anger and frustration toward the E R doctor and not the staff or hospital in early 2022. I found myself at this facility in December 2022 with pneumonia and other… complications and was admitted. I was very impressed with the e r doctor and nurses. They were quick with a diagnosis and treatment to follow. Once admitted I again was impressed with the quality of care, the professional and caring devotion demonstrated even by the cleaning staff in which the whole hospital was immaculately clean. I highly recommend this facility and myself will support this hospital by using for health needs. Union parish is blessed to have them. My stay was 4 days and 3 nights and not once did I get green jello threw at me lol. J/s the food was even good. Thank you UGH Bennie Whitton Sr.
The most ignorant ER staff. Go somewhere else for emergencies because everyone (besides the phlebotomist) was rude and unprofessional.
Very, very unprofessional and rude!
In the past 20 years, my family and I have probably been hospitalized 10 times in West Monroe. I have always chosen larger hospitals thinking they were more up-to-date and had more resources. Not sure why I opted to use… Union General Hospital instead of the one I have regularly used except the two times I went there for an x-ray, I was impressed. With COVID at its height, they took precautions that I did not see at the other hospital in West Monroe where I went just one week prior to this visit. They have a state-of-the-art machine set up at entrance to take temps of anyone walking in (just by stepping on it and looking into a lens), make-shift partitions between seats in the waiting room, all employees were masked, it was super clean, and the wait time was minimal. When I entered ER, they took me back within five minutes. Processing took a while because of insurance issues, but they had me in a room within three hours. From that point, all I can say is WOW. Here are the two main highlights of my visit at Union General, and I would be hard-pressed to say which one I appreciated the most: (1) The quality of care was exceptional. While I had no complaints about the care at other hospitals, the response time at Union General was much faster. From the RN’s, to the CNA’s, to housekeeping, everyone was awesome. They were aware of every little thing without having to ask, and they were so personable, efficient, and sweet. (2) Noise level was NOTHING. I mean, I literally heard nothing during my stay, and I was actually able to rest and heal. At the other hospital, you could hear raucous laughter from staff at 2:00-3:00 in the mornings and yelling or moaning from patients. Even if you had lights out and the door closed in your room, frequently the staff would not entirely close your door when they left, so the lights in the hallway and noise was beyond irritating. I’d have to get out of my bed and go close the door. I heard not one peep during my stay at Union General. Not even one. When the staff came in at night, they would open the bathroom door for light to see without turning on overhead lights. (I would never have complained about that, but it shows their thoughtfulness). They always closed the door when they left. And the bathrooms were amazing. They have been remodeled and look like those in finer homes. They were sanitized and had been labeled to that effect when I entered my room. (Food was well-seasoned and still warm, too.) Finally, I did not have to wait all day to see my doctor. Dr. Unkel came in each morning at a reasonable time and kept me advised on my progress. While I am aware a smaller hospital may not have the resources to handle more serious or unusual issues, I will ALWAYS use Union General Hospital in the future.
Very impressed with the staff, ,nurse, and doctors attention. They were able to see me immediately and the nurse came to my room and took my information rather than me having to fill out redundant paperwork. The… receptionist took my insurance information. The doctor came in timely and addressed my complaints and diagnosed my issue. He wrote me a script and discharge was quick and easy. The room was clean , modern, and well arranged. Overall a positive experience.
Staff is VERY RUDE!!! If my mother wasn’t in so much pain, I would have taken her somewhere else !!!
Had to have lab work and got in and out easily! Shelly in registration did a great job and Tina in the lab! So thankful for our local hospital!
This hospital is a wonderful match of great staff and great care.
Great staff!! Got to ER and need sum stitches. Got in and got out quick and easy!!
I went there after hurting a week think I hurt my hip and back. They let me lay there 4 hours in pain done an ex ray said I had chronic pain. The lady next to me hit her knee and was seen faster and was given pain med.… After hurting another week I went to another doc that done a urine test to find I had the worst uti she ever seen .and I suffered just because they are very judge mental and think they can pick or chose who really needs care and who can lay there 4 hours in pain.I'm not a drug addict I'm a mom grandmas, and a person with a big heart I had to suffer with that pain thru my father in law funeral. And guess what I got the treatment I needed with a shot of antibiotics and some to take home. No pain pills .some people really need help .not looking for pain meds but need help. And if y'all done y'all job on the urine you would have saw what treatment I needed. It hurts my heart to know I not the only one who got judge and won't be the last.
On November 11, I came to them for what felt like an appendicitis attack. I was the only patient in the ER that night. Aside from the phlebotomist, I was treated extremely disrespectfully. The doctor on duty was hostile… and completely uncommunicative. They refused to tell me details of my blood work and discharged me without any attempt to help with the excruciating pain I was in. They told me it was probably "just gas." I had to go to a different ER the next day with worsening pain and nausea. I wish I could give zero stars. If you go here, you are taking your life in your own hands.
Dr. Post is an amazing doctor.
Please do not risk your health by going here. I have an infected tooth, and went for simple antibiotics. After waiting for 2 hours to see a quack nurse practitioner, she told me it wasn't a medical emergency and to pay… $200 or leave. Cellulitis of the face can be deadly BTW. Oh and I love the fact that the nurses like to argue with you about your medicine allergies, like they know your body better than you. Pathetic really. Isn't there a moral oath that these people take in med school? Promising to treat without discrimination and regardless of insurance status? The worst hospital ever.
The staff was extremely rude and made unprofessional remarks about my health .the doctored not recheck my sugar as I'm an extreme diabetic just said there is nothing the Dr can do .I'll never go again I'll risk my… health to drive somewhere else
