About Freedom Behavioral Health – Monroe

Freedom Behavioral Health operates from 4402 Sterlington Road in Monroe, close enough to Lakeshore and Swartz to serve both. Lakeshore, Monroe, Swartz and West Monroe all sit within 7 miles of the door. Monroe sits in Ouachita County, and the county’s own provision is limited enough that this site draws from a wide area.

Freedom Behavioral Health provides residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Co-occurring conditions are handled concurrently rather than one after the other. Remote appointments are offered, useful for anyone without transport. Licensing sits with the Louisiana Department of Health, alongside federal SAMHSA registration.

Freedom Behavioral Health – Monroe Detox and Rehab Services

Freedom Behavioral Health – Monroe runs residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. It is reasonable to ask how progress is reviewed and by whom. Ask what happens if the recommended level of care is not available immediately.

Both conditions are treated in parallel, which is what the research supports. Ask what the assessment recommends before comparing anything else. Waiting times vary, so it is worth asking at the first call. Confirm what a program covers before committing to it.

I was there in November of 2025 you felt like you were in a prison facility was it clean a lot of staff especially the nursing staff was rude the doctor couldn't get her information straight you saw about two or three… different doctors move me to three different rooms while I was there I couldn't even have my comprehension book that had medical information in it they couldn't control their patients that had very bad anger issues or bad attitudes I wouldn't recommend going there cuz they're unorganized and they didn't do me no bit of good I came to y'all two different times last year y'all didn't do me a bit of good I ended up losing my state job your staff and your doctors didn't help me out none

Do not send anyone you love here. This place is an absolute joke. They treat you like you’re in prison. They simply asks if you have any anxiety or depression or hallucinations once a day to fill out they little… paperwork. The rest of the day is spent walking around a small corridor or coloring or playing spades. Their idea of group therapy made me angry considering what actual group therapy is supposed to be. Their idea of group therapy was listening to music and playing bingo. The worst facility I’ve ever been held. I would give zero stars if possible.

This facility was AMAZING! They took care of my loved one so well, and they were so kind to her, and myself included. They made sure I knew what was going on every step of the way a communicated everything with me and… always asked if I had any questions. My loved ones experience from the inside was also very pleasant. The staff has a heart for what they do and you can tell they truly want to help and have compassion for the people on their care. Thank you freedom staff! We are so grateful for you!

This place is a joke!!! We had my 91 year old dad involuntarily admitted last week. He has dementia and is very mean. We got no help at all!!! Never allowed to talk to a Dr our concerns were never addressed he was put… in anti depressants and sent home after 7 days. Every time we tried to express our concerns we were told they are not seeing any of that. Very unprofessional did not communicate with us DO NOT EVER send your loved one there the place needs to be shut down my dad and my family has been let down by the system and we have no idea where to go or what to do from here zero stars for this place

This clinic is trash. They were no help to my family member. We were lied to about release dates and were denied our Emergency Certificate. It took getting a lawyer involved to get it and get the required documents. My… family member was there a week and not once got their manual, which is required. They had no clue when they would be discharged or how to seek outside support. The clinic scheduled all their appointments on a week away, canceled their appointments we already had and did this without informing us. When they got out, we had to call all appointments to reschedule for a sooner date. I have been billed twice now. I have called the associated number 3 times on three different days, and all within office hours. No answer. The statements get delivered to the wrong address and there is not a way to pay them if they won’t even answer. And no, the voicemail box is full so I am unable to leave a voicemail.

This place is completely unprofessional. The staff and techs let the patience do whatever they want with the exception of this one person I forgot his name. Fights broke out all the time. The food was just above jail… standards. No in house doctors they just have zoom meetings with is very lazy in my opinion.

The bottom line is this; if your loved one is there, expect them gone 15 days (getting that sweet insurance money) no communication....some staff are great and some are just coasting through the day. If you expect… someone to get treatment then you're in for a rude awakening. My Brother was there and basically they gave him his daily medicine plus Lexapro. He was NOT suicidal. They didn't care. My entire family explained his job is in need of him and they didn't care because they want to charge insurance. The fasciitis ran down and he advised me that the beds were like sleeping on the floor. People got in altercations and no one did a thing about it. I will be consulting my attorney Richard Fewell Jr. About ALL of this. Truly unbelievable that this occured. My brother has issues but he has never been in legal trouble and they treated him like a felon.

They trick you into signing papers and the throw you to the curve and shut the door on you. Zero communication and the highest unprofessional behavior.

What a nightmare beware and caution sending anyone to this facility. The Psychiatric Dr/nurse practitioner see patients by zoom not in person. Rely Heavily on nurses and aids notes for treating patients since they… themselves do not physically observe them. The facility clearly under staffed and if you look up the employees reviews it will give real insight to how the place is ran by administrators. We could not get much information about our family member that was involuntary committed, Even though we have the correct legal paperwork showing they could speak to us, including HIPAA forms and a durable medical power of attorney. Asking to speak to admin the CEO walked out with two other ladies very hostile and upset that we were trying to get information about our son. They were so hostile it was hard to even talk to the 3 ladies. The doctor and nurse practitioner also never called us back about the treatment plan that they were putting in place and holding our son longer than a 72 hour hold. Well, on the inside multiple people would ask our son why we had so much and paperwork to make decisions and help him. (He only 21 yrs old unmarried student) if I discharged him after keeping him with his total of seven days, two of which being a weekend and one day being a holiday. The only thing they did was prescribe Antidepressants it did not schedule any other outpatient care like they inform us in beginning. I would like to say the nursing/aids staff in the facility was very kind to him. They allow him to call and they would communicate with us when they could.. A staff member also allowed us a visitation briefly before visiting hours knowing that we are from out-of-state and that we had to head back home a that was very kind of her. The receptionist at the front desk was always so very kind. This staff members you could tell they genuinely did care for patients and wanted to get better. I would’ve actually gave more stars if it hadn’t been for the admin team and the doctor that held him longer than a 72 hour hold. Clear lack of empathy and communication. Honestly extremely Bizarre and scary experience. If this how mental health patients are treated like a criminal it makes sense why the system is broken. Know your rights in each state on Mental health.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They housed my 8 year child with 16 and 17 year olds so he came home talking about inappropriate things he shouldn't have even known about. That's is just one of the many reason why… this place is terrible. There was ZERO communication in regards to my son or his treatment plan. They didn't even call me to let me know when he was being discharged I had to contact them for that information. The discharge papers didn't come with any crisis plan or diagnosis. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
