I waited nearly a month after intake to see a medication prescriber at CT Renaissance. When I finally did, I requested outpatient support to discontinue a substance safely. I was told medication would only be provided… if I enrolled in an additional intensive outpatient program, with inpatient detox as the alternative. Due to a physical disability and other constraints, those options were not feasible for me, and I ultimately went through withdrawal. I found the lack of flexibility and delay in care disappointing, especially given the time-sensitive nature of medication management.
