Bartlett Regional Hospital Reviews and Ratings
Patients remember things about Bartlett Regional Hospital that no register holds: who answered the phone, how the first day went, whether family were included.
If you have that kind of knowledge, a review in this section passes it on.
No urgency, most staff incredibly rude, failure to deliver expected standard of care. First contact person was non medical registrar person. Triage nurse never looked at waiting room (two patients there)… our patient in… extreme pain… 45 minutes later, a snarky triage nurse blessed us with her “attention “. Someone needs to read the Joint Commission REQUIRED ELEMENTS OF CARE! How this place is accredited is a mystery. Sought care the following day at another facility… much improved after fluids, IV antibiotics, IV pain meds. Failure to appropriately treat is malpractice. Avoid this terrible place. They know they are the only game in town and it shows.
I am a flight attendant who had a layover in Juneau and became extremely sick and went into sepsis. I was taken to this hospital and received excellent care from everyone enabling me to be released after only four days.… I was very pleased with my care team.
Excellent, caring & professional team lead by Dr. Jones provided great care to my husband during our recent ER visit during our Alaska cruise. Thank you 🙏

Dr Brooks did a fantastic job listening to my concerns as well as the other staff from front desk check in all the way to discharge time. Everybody involved were very nice and informative.
Lab Sucks
All of the staff were awesome except for the dr I had Abigail Mary king, ANP. She seemed sincere when listening and I felt like I was being heard. I went in for dizziness and a bad rash. She ordered blood test and a CT… and finally determined I had some kind of inner ear issue causing the dizziness. She gave me some meds to help me sleep and an antihistamine for the rash. She also gave some instructions with some exercises that might help the inner ear issues. Also told me to get an itch cream for the rash. Unfortunately neither one helped. Told me to follow up with a local doctor if it didn’t get better. I explained to her that that I don’t live here and don’t have a local dr but that did not seem to make a difference. The rash I had she could see was driving me nuts it itched so bad and was spreading while I was there. I understand if nothing can be done for the dizziness but I asked and was denied something stronger to help with the rash. No reason to go to the dr if she is not going to help.
I'm very grateful that the people at Bartlett are here in Juneau to provide top-notch modern healthcare in a remote area like Southeast Alaska. I had a total hip replacement done and every individual that I dealt with… showed caring and professionalism on a level I really didn't expect. I don't mean I expected negative outcomes, I mean they really are a top-notch team of caregivers. I have encountered the opposite so I know the difference. Dr. Brown and his surgical team, the doctors, nurses, and techs that work in med surgery, the anesthesiologists, the physical therapists, the CNAs, scheduling and intake, they all worked together seamlessly to get my surgery done, and it's something that I've needed for years. I waited to get the hip replacement surgery because I did not have access to an outfit like Bartlett in the last place that I lived in Alaska. I was able to get all my care here without flying back and forth to Seattle, which is a godsend. If you feel any hesitation about going to Bartlett and getting a medical procedure that you need, you need not feel that way, they will take good care of you. Did I mention the food was great as well??? Hats off to the staff in the kitchen, good food really matters when you don't feel well. Giving me back my mobility is no small feat, I will always be grateful to the medical professionals at Bartlett.
Well Husband had to come to Barlett for pneumonia. Emergency was quick had him up in a room fast. I thought we'd be er all night but nope. The 3rd floor Doctors, Nurses CNAs and Housekeepers was all amazing caring… individuals with hearts of gold. The food has improved 1000% since last time Husband was in here. The only little complaint is the towels need to be bigger. Overall it's been a positive stay. Thank you Bartlett for caring for our community.
Updated 2025.06.25 ER is good to have available when needed. Upon entering the hospital emergency department, we passed by their 24 hour cafeteria which requires a card key access. Breakfast is 0730-0900, lunch is… 1100-1400, dinner is 1700-1800 for their hot food station service. We tasted their chicken curry, it was mildly spicy, the chicken was moist, not overcooked nor dry. It was very pleasant food as is their atmosphere. Updated 2022 Bartlett Regional Hospital is really excellent for what it does offer in services with it's small budget. I wish it would a bigger budget to be able to offer more instead of sending patients off for services it cannot offer. What they are able to offer are a team of professional, hard working, top notch doctors, RN's, CNA's and support staff to keep this place going. Sometimes, the staff are stretched thin, services take longer. The pain management agenda is part regimen, and part guessing for the patient. Pain relief is dispensed, some time passes to the medication to take affect, then a body adjustments. That's where unknown pain could reared its ugly side. Now I'm in a higher level pain, but now I must wait for the next time for the next dose of pain relief. I've gone through a few nights holding on for hours in pain in anticipation of the pain relief dose, it's very a stressful experience. However, the dining facility continues to overcooked their sources of protein, i.e. chicken, eggs, beef, fish that I would tend to leave that on the plate, preferring to have my protein moist, tender, not hard, dry. The kitchen really needs to do a better quality for taste at smaller portions, not overcooking protein. Food is too bland without a little salt and pepper. It's such institutional food, it's pathetic.
As embarrassed as I felt with them poking and taking ultra sounds. Even though I was real uncomfortable doctor and nurse kept it professional made me feel comfortable.
Not happy with how my daughter was treated in the Psychiatry Department. Dr. D made some inappropriate comments and told her that “antidepressants don’t work anyway”
Let's be realistic more than half of these "5 star reviews" are fake, made by them or they had it made for them to up the rating I have tons of stories of 2 different people in my life who has been treated horribly As a… example My mother in law had kidney cancer, which they saw and could've easily gotten rid of it before it got worse They knew for 2 years before they even said anything to her, to the point she lost her kidney due to their stupidity Before you go and make excuses for their behavior What about the time a nurse decided to cut her open for no reason, and because of that nurse who had no permission or authority to cut her open Put her on death's door, if they didn't get her out of there when they did to a different hospital/different doctor She would be dead Or my fiance How he's constantly being treated like a junkie He hates pills, if his body didn't need it in order for him to not be throwing up all the time, he wouldn't take any at all So he never asks for any pills, just want them to figure out why he's in so much serious pain He has many things that aren't right,he has poor health but he does everything he can to be healthy as he can to avoid going to the er As well as they have so many cases against them no one wants to put up that lawsuit fight as they will just pay it off and continue to treat others horrible I'm not saying every single person they do but definitely alot I wish that the government or whoever would build another hospital/er So they wouldn't be the only option Instead of making banks, coffee shops They need better doctors who not only cares about their patients but who will do what they can to help them as much as possible Idc if I get hate for this post, someone gotta be honest and speak up I do not trust them and I really wish we had a another hospital
Called to see if I can get some water. basically to refill my containers at a sink or anything. The receptionist said she had to ask for permission for such an excessive amount of water (4 quarts) Why? Is there a water… shortage here in Juneau or just the hospital? Oh well at least Salmon Creek won't be giving me any hassle for getting water. Geez people how hard is it to let someone fill their containers and walk out? Why does it need to go up the chain of command? Have a heart next time because the next person might not have a water filter like I do and may become your patient for drinking contaminated water. Then you're going to feel awful. Just saying it's just water not gold.
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude to all the Doctor's Nurses and Hospital Staff, for the exceptional care and support have provided to my husband, even though we are miles apart, dedication providing the best… possible care has brought comfort and peace of mind to both of us, I am truly Thankful🥰
I usually get seen pretty quickly at the ER and treated very well. Probably because I was almost always in uniform and they knew I worked at the hospital. Till tonight I was out of uniform and brought in my two month… old babygirl she was not cared for nurse’s and what not we’re literally eating and kicking back two and a half hours she was barely triaged and no nurse or doctor even saw my daughter I am livid that this is how they treat a coworker just because I don’t work in the same department and I wasn’t on shift doesn’t mean I should’ve been treated like this at the hospital I WORK AT.
I struggle with mental illness and was admitted to the 3rd floor, I was scared and hesitant to go, I was on my death bed and all hope was gone, Now I can honestly say, They saved my life!! In more ways than one. I never… felt so safe and cared for, All of the staff made sure all of my needs were met, The therapy groups were just wonderful along with nurses doctors and even custodian staff were wonderful and so polite. Bartlett saved my life, I could rave on forever, But the truth is I will never be able to put into words just what they did for me, And my life and my family. They gave me hope and compassion when I had lost all hope, I felt completel helpless and lost, Every single person there are some of the most wonderful, caring and compassionate, just incredible people you will ever find in the world, It's not just a job for them and you can feel that. They want to help, they are very special people. I felt heard for the first time in years of trying to get the help I need, In just a few days they made sure I got that and made appointments for me so I didn't have to try to figure it out alone and remove the stress of the hunt for the right help. I have absolutely no complaints, They made sure I had a safety plan and outpatient services before my discharge. Thank you so much!! I now have hope again and if I ever reach the end of my rope again I know just where to go. 10/10 would recommend.
I don't feel far way from home in this hospital. They don't only treat your physical illness but they also provide emotional support especially to patients like me who's from other country and no family with them. May… you always continue your excellent service. God bless you abundantly. Thank you so much!
Emergency care and personnel were outstanding in their patience, friendliness and communication. Same for Critical Care Unit. They endeared themselves to us during our short stay!
Great people, but as a man the challenges of getting the correct dose and amount can be challenging, I get it, it's a fragile system, but I got the care I needed, God bless beautiful people.
Very good 👍 👏
I have had the unfortunate disgust in working with the Hospital from a far. I was not the one personally receiving care; but my son was. I have had to deal with NURSES or so CALLED nurses who are just there to get a… check. They do not CARE about the well being of my son. The lack of professionalism is a colossal failure and I will seek more advice as to report the Chairman and nurses of this facility. It's a shame that I have had my hands tied to what needs to be done for my child. Seek another facility when you can.
I'm trying to locate a friend and they refuse to help hiding behind HIPAA. I didn't ask for any personal health informatiom. So much for compassion and do no harm.
We had a great experience here. The nurses, CNA's, and doctors were all friendly and professional. The doctor even took the time to show us x-rays and explain what was happening. Being from out of town, we were not… familiar with the area, and the nurses made sure we were taken care of with food and lodging. They helped make a bad situation a little better.
Great team of people here.
I never hardly got seen, especially by the doctors. I wouldn't bring my dog to this hospital. I was on a 24 hour hold and when it was over I still couldn't get out. I have no clue how this place hasn't been sued for… malpractice. The only people that were caring was the BHAs Tessa and Lily. Other than that this hospital is the worst. The doctor even told me not to get my panties in a wade(Dr. KIM). SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL.
