About Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs – Sitka
Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs operates from 113 Metlakatla Street in Sitka. The site sits in Sitka County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. The practical catchment runs wider than the city limits, taking in people who travel in rather than finding care on their doorstep.
Residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs
Residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Residential runs long-term, which suits people who have tried shorter stays without them holding. Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers.

Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 113 Metlakatla Street, Sitka, AK 99835, in Sitka County. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity. It is worth checking which entrance to use and where parking sits before a first appointment.
Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs Reviews and Ratings
A review of Sitka Counseling and Prevention Servs does not need to be long. If you were a patient or a family member, a few plain sentences on what went well, and what you wish you had known beforehand, will help the next reader.
Overall I appreciate the help I received from my counselor and the technicians who not only worked with me to address the behavioral health issues but also areas of my life I had let fall by the wayside along the way… I.e. medical apts, resolving some minor legal issues, as well as even helping with finding employment. I really appreciate that, a lot of this staff, most actually, really care. That being said, after speaking with a fried who was also a client some time ago and relaying a very similar experience, I do feel it’s important to mention a staff member that negatively impacted multiple residents including myself and the reason I feel it’s important to mention is that this staff member INTENTIONALLY behaved this way. It’s unsure to me if he was an actual counselor or just a hiking guide of some sort, but at some point in my treatment at the facility I did or said something that upset Sam the red headed nature trail guide (counselor?) and made me a target of his. my last months in treatment were spent defending myself against a constant barrage of accusations, false narratives and a one-sided issue to where I was constantly having to almost beg to remain a resident despite following the rules, staying sober and engaging in treatment. There were multiple instances where I was told I was being asked to leave based on unfounded and untrue claims Sam made that I was fortunate to be able to prove false. instead of focusing on positive growth in the genuinely great program, I had to constantly argue for my right to be in the program due to one staff member having an issue that he never would communicate or give me the chance to address or resolve. To this day I don’t know ifI did something to offend him or if he just didn’t like knowing I existed along with him. I was constantly looking over my shoulder which turned out for the best as I came to discover that when I was out of the residence going to work, meetings, etc. red headed nature trail guide Sam would be following me in a very questionable and creepy vehicle. Perhaps that is just normal protocol for this facility but I must ask….in what other capacity would a nature guide in a creep van be given stalking clearance to ensure a client is abiding rules be appropriate? I would just hope that if this employee was indeed supposed to be a part of the therapeutic process then perhaps Sam the nature trail guide could implement communication skills to positively resolve the issues he has with clients he may take issue with for whatever weird reason he finds, instead of targeting, accusing and tailing them in his van. But this is just coming from a previous client/perp…he’s the professional red headed nature guide. who am I to question the therapeutic harassment methods of a professional red headed hiker with a one sided beef? Everyone else on this staff though? Phenomenal. I didn’t see one other staff member tailing me in their vehicle and I genuinely can’t think of any other instance of a member of staff trying to kick me out of my treatment stay over an unarticulated problem they refuse to resolve.
