I have referred patients to Beacon for years. The psychiatrist is conservative and caring. The staff are committed to excellent patient care. They always communicate back with referral sources. I am grateful they are in… our community!
I had an interesting time here. Dr. Shah and I did not see eye to eye at all. He doubted everything that I did and even accused me of malingering. He changed and increased my meds, even after telling me that nothing was… wrong with me. I will say, however, that some of the staff made my times in this hospital actually beneficial. I know that Lakeshia in particular was very helpful to me, even going so far as to talk to me in the middle of many other things. I will never forget the day that I sat on my bed (in my blocked room) crying and contemplating life. Lakeshia came in and she sat with me. We talked for a minute about all the things that were troubling me, and by the end of our conversation, I had a very positive outlook. Everything had shifted because someone actually took the time to talk to me. I also want to say that Bre, though not my favorite, was definitely a great help to me. She doesn't know it, in fact she thinks that I jank on her all of the time, but she definitely kept me sane. She would come in with a pocketful of sunshine, and she would leave with it just as full. She never once let her energy drop, and that led to the patients having good energy as well.
Alyssa Straw is the best, highly recommended her she’s awesome!!
Personally, idk abt evb else but I absolutely loved this place and didn’t wanna leave. Idk if most of yall are used to more freedom but I usually don’t like my home, and the head nurse Jessica showed me that she really… did care for me and treated me well and I’m glad to see that she’s okay, I hope she knows I do miss her alot she’s basically a second mom to me out of anything, and I wish the best for her. I loved mr grant he was so kind and silly and always liked Miss Mo. The only thing I didn’t like was one of the night ppl I was here like 2 times. And tbh I’d always come back if I could. Miss yall
i was here about 1yr and and 2 months ago. i still miss this place id be surpised if the still rember me i loved the head nurse jessica over anyone in there. she made me feel wanted and loved actlly. if they do see this… review my names Ella. and last name starts with a A anyways, i love yall and miss yall, i did become a content creator ''oh yt'' thank yall so much miss yalll all motly jessica and miss mo.
Gonna have to say this was a pretty traumatic experience for me an my child. First thing they did was abruptly stop all my chikds meds which is a big no no for anyone to do. Then put her on other meds within 48hours.… The doctor who i asked to speak to many many times(they never let me speak to him or received a call back) why hes changing my kids medicine she went into full blown withdrawals and rebound psychosis 3 days after they discharged her because they abruptly stopped giving her the meds the psychiatric facilities had her on for the past 2.5yrs. Some of the staff seems nice but they are not medical proffesionals by any means. Sadly the only other behavior facility near us has an ongoing lawsuit for child abuse so I figured this was the better option but two weeks after discharge an my kid cant return to school due to what he did to her medication routine. Do not let doctor shah mess with your child's medication. I repeat the staff is nice an they have great therapy exercises for the patients but medically. I wouldnt take any advice from them.
I have went here and came in with barely any trauma and came out with WAY more. Another kid had sexually harrased me and they did NOTHING. A kid had hurt me multiple times and she got out a bit after me. A kid had a… abusive home, told them, they said they would work on it and they let her out even after she said she would kill herself if she goes back. but the counslers were nice i also liked one tech named kyle. They lowered my med dose and never put it back up.
I have worked with this company for many years and they have always been professional and attentive you the clients I have referred!
I have placed several children at Beacon Hospital through my job and partnering agencies. This is one of the best hospitals in our area. They treat the kids really good and have great quality services! All of the… children I have sent always want to go back when they need more intensive treatment!
I had fun when we went outside it was nice and peaceful but the One of the showers was cold and the some of the food was good and they taught me that being a girl means nothing in even tho I’m a girl I can play tackle… football and guess what I’m on a team too ok that’s enough byeee✌🏽😁
Both of my children have had stays here in the past and everyone at Beacons went above and beyond taking care of my girls and making sure they were in a much better place mentally and emotionally. I would trust them… with my children anytime they ever need help again and wholeheartedly recommend them.
It was great the staff Was respectful and they help you and it was Clean and My fav Tech was Ms.k
Children Hospital have been a great help to us. The staff very friendly and helpful. Recommend if you need help for any Children in your family.
Excellent facility! They truly care!
The hospital was exceptional, with a truly wonderful staff from nurses to counselors to techs. Initially, I felt apprehensive, leaving my 14 year old. Ashley from the admissions team demonstrated remarkable… professionalism and courtesy, addressing my inquiries and concerns effectively. Her assistance was invaluable, and I appreciate the support provided. I would highly recommend the hospital's services to anyone in need.
The place was great and some people were kind, but certain staff really bummed me out. It felt more like I was getting help from other patients— who were supposed to be getting help from the staff too but weren’t—… rather than the people who were actually supposed to be helping like the doctors, nurses, counselors, and techs. Sometimes I felt misunderstood and got treated like a toddler— which I never acted like one either— and the work felt like going back to kindergarten instead of getting actual help. Before I came there, I’ll admit I definitely had issues but I would never get angry, just sad. Yet, when I was there and after I left, anger was the biggest thing I felt. I hated it. And not just any anger, the kind of anger where you wanna scream and punch the wall, which I’ve never wanted to do or even thought of doing before. I felt like the family sessions didn’t help much and neither did the normal sessions. Don’t get me wrong, Ms Alyssa was nice, it just wasn’t helping me. Also, whenever I’d cry I felt like I was getting punished for doing so. Like, getting extra days was a possibility if you cried because you weren’t “using coping skills”— but i feel like that just made me want to hold in everything more because I didn’t want extra days and I hated the way staff made me feel when I cried— except for one nurse. She was really nice, I just forgot her name unfortunately. She’s a night nurse. Also, Mr Kyle was a very nice person to talk to, too. I really hated nap time and whenever we’d go to sleep at night because the lights in the hallway were on and I’d always have to listen to people in the hall talking. The bed situation was rough, beds were super uncomfortable. The only time I had a comfortable bed was my last night there and it was because I finally got moved onto the girls hall instead of being on the boys hall. The shampoo made my scalp dry out and my hair started thinning again, but I started waiting days between hair wash or would just use the conditioner, which kind of worked. I am picky eater so I can’t really comment on the food, but sometimes it would be good. Also, they said there weren’t many fights there but there was an actual physical fight in my group while I was there and multiple verbal fights. There was a lot of drama, too, which was terrible. Also, since I’ve gotten out, I’ve felt so much worse than before. The thoughts got worse, not better. Very bad. Plus, my medicine makes me not feel hungry so now I’ve stopped eating as much because I genuinely don’t feel hungry, which I hate. Also, we had to do everything with markers, and they’d dry out. Some techs would be like “oh, yall always make them dry out.” When that’s literally the only thing we can use AND it’s also because they’re cheap, so what do you expect? So, overall, the place means well, but it mostly just made me worse, so, uhm, yeah. :)
The directors of Beacon Children's hospital were so helpful. They did a very good job with updating me with resources that are available in my area.
It sucks. first off the staff is rude like they don't care about the kids here even the little ones they just ignore them and have no compassion for them, second they literally gossip about patients right where anyone… can hear them. Also the bedrooms have no doors and the lights in the hallway are always on, and the staff sit outside and talk super loud all night so you can't sleep at all. During the day they have you sit in a room and color you never actually work on anything or get any support and the chairs are uncomfortable too. Food is fire though
Great place def helped my kid out for the long run it def hurt but as a parent you got to do what you got to do to help your babies
My daughter required care for her depression and the people at Beacon treated each of us like people and not a nasty disease. She has been home for a few months and is participating in life again.
