Staff answering the phone today was very very disrespectful rude and clearly not someone who cares about other people who calling for mental health services she need to be fired .

This place is a joke. The therapist they have is a joke. Nobody listens and they want to prescribe stuff that nobody needs.!! Hands-down, I would never take anyone to this place and don’t encourage anyone to take any… family members to this place either, they don’t care about you and they don’t care about the medicine that they put inside your body. They don’t listen To anything that you say! Definitely find a better place to take you or your loved ones

I was court-ordered to complete a treatment program, and choosing this facility turned out to be a mistake. From the beginning, there were serious issues with organization and communication. At one point, I was… mistakenly confused with another participant, which resulted in me being placed into stricter classes unnecessarily. There were also inconsistencies in what I was told. I was initially given permission to attend church in place of AA/NA meetings without needing signatures, but after attending multiple times, I was suddenly told that signatures were required after all. Additionally, I felt misrepresented to my probation officer, as it was reported that I was not participating in group sessions. In reality, participation was difficult due to how sessions were run—sometimes consisting of watching movies instead of meaningful education, or being left without guidance while staff conducted long one-on-one conversations. Overall, my experience was frustrating and unproductive. Based on what I went through, I would not recommend this facility.

Missed an appointment, was told I have to do a sit and wait in Benton harbor and hope someone cancels their appointment. The won’t even consider me for a patient. Or wait 90 days to schedule a new one. With the weather,… and me having a 3yo that isn’t realistic. On top of that, my appointment was in DECEMBER and they JUST sent out a piece of paper on the 22nd of January and I just received it, stating I either have to wait 90 days or do the sit and wait but they “can’t wait to schedule me” I was told over the phone after NEVER being there that I should know or someone should give me their policy. For being a mental health place, they really do not care about mental health. Not sure how they’re still open

My doctor Sharon , and Tim McLaughlin have stayed beside me in keeping my 2 cats at the apartment complex Karol King in South bend , it's been a very difficult 2 weeks, I'm very grateful for Riverwood mental health… center . Thank you for helping me. Tonya A.

Great place to get your life on track and be happy

Their phone answering service claims they’re closed 24/7 and forces you to leave voicemails every day - you will not receive a call back explaining that you cannot be seen there or why. You will suffer great… consequences of your mental health condition(s) if you choose this company/business/office.

(go to niles community health center just a few minutes away. they can schedule appointments only 1 week out.) if i could leave a ZERO star review i would. have an urgent medication issue? be ready to wait months before… each one of your appointments …👎👎when i tried to transfer records to elsewhere on the phone the first time the black woman on the phone argued with me and basically implied/ accused me of trying to get a prescription to abuse it, without saying that directly... even transfering records to try to leave is a nighmare! (update in 1/24. a winter storm postponed my 1 month appointment to 3 months out. DO NOT book an appointment here YOU WILL deeply regret it. waiting 3 months because my first appointment was scheduled 5 weeks out instead of 4??? causing me to perfectly align with a winter storm and therefore have to wait 3 months. UNACCEPTABLE! TERRIBLE PLACE WITH APPOINTMENT NIGHTMARES! AVOID AT ALL COST!

People keep referring me to Riverwood but they do not return phone calls or voicemails.I asked to talk to a real person and they still send me to voice-mail boxes which no one responds to.Unprofessional and uncaring.

Funny how their website says available 24/7, but you can NEVER get anyone to answer the phone or call you back if you leave a message. All they do is take your money and then tell you they can't help you, when that's… what they are there for! That place needs a miracle from GOD!

If you love and care about your kids and family members DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! "Dr" Rebecca is the absolute worst, so bad that her medical license should be in question. She took my son off a much needed medication… because SHE didn't like it, didn't care that my son has done great on it for over 10 years. She refused to listen to him when he tried to discuss it with her. I called them 4 days ago because he was having ideations and neither her OR her nurse has bothered to call me back. This speaks volumes on the lack of compassion or care they actually have for their patients. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!

ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE IN NILES (and probably ANYWHERE!) to go for counseling. The therapists are RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL & CONDESCENDING. Not to mention COLD, UNCARING & COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL. They told me that I really… NEEDED their therapy & that I needed to commit to at least a one year program. Then they "dismissed" me from the center when I lost my insurance. I honestly never got anything GOOD out of the sessions anyway. I did learn a lot from reading the study materials that went along with the class. But every therapist I encountered there had a very SMUG, JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE. Try Haelen Center Counseling on 3rd street in Niles. I've had very good luck there. They are MUCH MORE RESPECTFUL, WARM, COMPASSIONATE & CARING. AND THEY TAKE MEDICAID! RIVERWOOD IS *NOT* YOUR ONLY CHOICE FOR COUNSELING IN NILES! EVEN WITH MEDICAID.

Riverwood is simply horrible! It is a shame how incompetent unqualified and unprofessional they are. I have dealt with them over 30 years with various members of my family. Most of the time you can’t get the help in a… timely manner. The office staff are uncaring and rude. There is no compassion or empathy which should be a requirement when working with the mentally ill. The truth of the matter is if you have money and good insurance you probably will get the help you need. But if you’re a poor welfare recipient you will be treated like a second class citizen and be treated worse than an animal at Riverwood! Our community health system needs a major overhaul! Very sad.

Would give zero stars if I could. Staff is incredibly unhelpful and unprofessional. Have never had an experience where a therapist ghosted somebody until we went through their services. Please go elsewhere if your able,… you won’t find solid support, care or empathy from this facility, and everyone deserves that— especially anyone who is struggling with a mental illness. beyond frustrated and disappointed with their services.

The put my autistic grandson through all their testing and set up all the services which we were very happy about because he was finally getting the help he needs. The process took months. Everything was just about to… start when they decided to do a manual review and decided that because of issues with Medicaid and spend downs they were not going to continue to provide services. Do not reliable on them. Do not trust them to help your loved ones. Go anywhere else if you can.

Staff genuine and helpful and very sensitive to my daughters special needs.

I saw Dr. Davis for 2ish years (mostly because he was the only one local I could find at the time)... When I needed his help and support the most, he left me hanging. He actually had his assistant or nurse call me and… tell me his "recommendation"...When your profession deals with mental health, there is more required of you than a 15 min med refill appointment. People are counting on you to be there for them when no-one else is.

Very unprofessional. Dr. Dempsey is rude, he got a attitude with me because I told him my medication was not working and I wanted to try something else.

Very unprofessional, by far the worst place to be assessed for mental health and substance abuse. I would not recommend Riverwood to anyone
