I am giving them more than one star because they saved my mother's life. However, their communication is terrible. The surgeon failed to tell her that her bowel perforation was caused by cancer. She found out at a… follow-up appointment two months (!) later. Also, they failed to explain that she needed a minimum of 64 ounces of fluid per day, some in the form of Gatorade or Pedialyte to balance her electrolytes. So she was re-hospitalized three (3) times for severe dehydration. While she was there, the nurses sent me text messages around 5 am, 4 am, and even earlier to claim that she had slept well. However, she said that they never bothered to ask how she had slept. They just poked their heads in the room and assumed that she was fine. That is lazy and unacceptable. Moreover, some of the nurses were friendly and respectful, but a couple were not. One dismissed my concern about the way my mother was treated in the ER. (She was deemed unable to consent just because she was drowsy.) Another tried to "explain" that my mother is almost 80 and lecture me about the need to work with my sister, from whom I am estranged due to a history of verbal abuse. They really need to do better.
I was transferred from Gettysburg to Chambersburg after an ER visit as Chambersburg could perform my needed surgery immediately. All the staff during my 4 day stay was great from start to finish. I would highly… recommend.
From Waynesboro Hospital to Chambersburg Hospital they took incredible care of my husband. The nurse nurses are efficient, friendly nice. Every person that we came in contact with that works, there was incredibly… helpful. They took really good care of my husband and I’m forever grateful for that. My only complaint was that they didn’t come in and change the sheets and the blankets every day. No one from janitorial services came and mopped the floors or cleaned out the bathroom so that was my only issue I shouldn’t have had to ask the nurses to give me clean sheets and towels, and change the bed. But overall, They were really good and they took excellent care of my husband.
WORST HOSPITAL EVER. I went here because I was having terrible back and side pain near my ovaries, to the point where I could not move. The staff told me I was just dehydrated, gave me an IV, and sent me home. No… medication, did not do any x rays, nothing. The pain continued, and I ended up going to a hospital back home in MD, where they stated it was a kidney infection and I should have never been discharged without further monitoring and testing. All of the nurses and doctors were extremely disregarding of my pain. I felt unseen, unheard, and would never recommend anyone going here, even for severe medical issues, because they do not care.
Terrible hospital
Horrible experience, they do nothing to help you. Went in for full blown withdrawal symptoms from a Brixadi shot and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me, told me to follow up with my doctor as soon as I can. Complete… waste of 3 hours when my doctor has told me to come here if I were to have any issues. WOW. All of my medical history is in line for proof and I’m not some “junkie” looking for pills, I legitimately was in full blown withdrawal and he did nothing. Jon Bush was my MD and I am Strongly considering legal action against him as it’s against federal Law the be unwilling to treat a patient that is in a treatment program and is experiencing Withdrawal.
If you want to die come here. Went in for a simple Gallbladder surgery and ended up in two other hospitals for corrective procedures (bile leak and septic) with a 7 day hospital stay. Awesome Job Dr. Perkins and… Chambersburg Hospital 👍
Terrible hospital all they care about is making money from insurance. I went in with a cut on my finger that wouldn’t stop bleeding and they glued it and it was still bleeding when I left. The quality of care from… WellSpan health is terrible.
Checked in Sunday with multiple problems. They addressed all of them and discharged me Wednesday. I cannot say enough great things about the staff and the way I was treated. Was scary being in a hospital 3 hours from… home. They alleviated and concerns. Felt much better about them than our local hospital.
I don’t recommend this hospital especially the ER department. Don’t come here if you have a family. They won’t let kids under 12 back in the ER to see their parent, so my wife had to sit in a room alone and suffer alone… while I waited in the waiting room with our daughter. The staff had zero compassion towards my wife or our family.
I want to give a huge shout-out , to a RN in the ER department on June 2nd. Liz Clouser. My daughter was a patient and she went above and beyond for my daughter. Thank you for taking care of my "baby" .
They are taking great care of my Grandfather who has a-fib very polite nurses and a big HOSPITAL
Had us wait for 2 hrs and then didnt do anything.
Don't get sick without insurance and come to this (or any Wellspan) ER. They will send you to collections without hesitation.
Do not go here they don’t care!!!! I been having severe stomach issues for months and I’ve been having black diarrhea and blood for over a week now. They said I’m perfectly healthy.
They said I was perfectly healthy and turned out I had stage 3 cancer. If they would’ve listened to me last year when I first reported the symptoms and problems maybe I wouldn’t be in this situation 🤔
They would rather watch you die than actually help you. 9 months of constant pain and they said I’m perfectly healthy. Mind you I don’t want a single pill or medication. All I want is to be told what is wrong with me so… I know how to fix this. THEY DONT CARE HERE!!!! next time I’m having an emergency I’ll go all the way to Philly, Pittsburgh or Baltimore
This Chambersburg Pennsylvania hospital suck they are slow
This is the worse hospital I have ever been to. The staff is completely incompetent and only goal is to bandaid you up and send you on your way even if you need to be admitted. I had double pneumonia and came in three… times complaining I couldn’t breathe, and they sent me home. Waynesboro Hospital came and got me by ambulance and saved my life. I went into respiratory failure and ended up being intubated. Had Chambersburg listened to me, it never would have gotten that bad. They almost killed me. I had an employee tell me her mom came in for chest pains, and they sent her home only for her to have a heart attack that night. Another nurse said leave as soon as possible and go to a bigger hospital where they know what they are doing. Will never go back. I would rather bleed out than return.
Absolutely the worst hospital in the USA
unprofessional is an understatement. you’re better off planning your funeral than coming for “help” here.
Unless you have insurance most of the doctors here really don’t care about you or your health. You’re just seen as a nuisance in a bed that they wanna push out.
My brother recently had knee surgery and all went very smoothly. I was impressed with the text messaging symtem that keeps you abreast on every stage of the procedure process. I was especially impressed with a personal… call from the operating, Dr. Gunnett II. The staff was amazing as well. A Dr even helped me with directions to a room.
Disgusting emergency department. The smell and the amount of people who have waiting 3plus hours, puking patients at that.. would not recommend.
In and out quick when my friend's nerve blocking port started leaking. Dr. Woo and a second doctor were knowledgeable, fast thinking and had a calming "fun" bedside manner. We appreciated their honesty and medical… support in our time of need.
Sat in a bed in the hallway for 3 hours after sitting in the waiting room for three hours. Staff did not wash hands or sanitize equipment before use on next patient.
Nurses were well trained and extremely helpful. Labor and delivery here was a wonderful experience!
