Comunidade Terapêutica Minha Casa is a residential therapeutic community in Olho Marinho, Óbidos, run by a non-profit association formed in 1996. Admission starts with a pre-admission interview by appointment, followed by clinical and psychosocial assessment, social and psychiatric reports and diagnostic tests including a chest X-ray or Mantoux test, and requires the opinion of the public treatment team for the candidate’s area of residence. A general practitioner acts as clinical director, working with a psychiatrist, clinical psychologists, a social worker and psychosocial technicians.

Comunidade Terapêutica Minha Casa provides long-term residential treatment for dependence on alcohol, illicit drugs and prescription medication, organised as a sequential, phased process lasting up to 18 months. Treatment at Comunidade Terapêutica Minha Casa costs €235 per month on one of its 43 contracted beds, where the person pays 20% of the monthly fee and the Ministry of Health pays the remaining 80%, or €940.
