About DASSA Withdrawal Services (inpatient)
DASSA Withdrawal Services is the statewide inpatient withdrawal unit run by Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) at 226 Fullarton Road, Eastwood, South Australia. Adults aged 18 and over are assessed and offered medical detoxification from alcohol and a range of other drugs, free of charge and without a referral.
An opioid treatment programme is also listed for the unit, though the medicines involved are not named. Contact is available seven days a week between 8:30 am and 10:00 pm, which gives individuals and families a wide window to ring 1300 131 340 or the unit directly on (08) 7087 1700 and begin an assessment.

DASSA Withdrawal Services (inpatient) Alcohol and Drug Services
Two levels of care are listed at DASSA Withdrawal Services in Eastwood: inpatient withdrawal management, which combines assessment with medical detoxification, and an opioid treatment programme. Alcohol is named among the substances treated, with a range of other drugs covered but not individually set out.
A medication assisted treatment tag sits on the unit’s entry without naming the drugs used, so ask what is prescribed and how dosing is managed. How long a withdrawal admission lasts, what counselling runs alongside it and what follows discharge are not set out, which makes the admissions conversation the place to pin down the plan.

How Much Does Treatment at DASSA Withdrawal Services (inpatient) Cost?
An admission to DASSA Withdrawal Services costs nothing. The unit states no cost to the client, so the assessment, the medical detoxification itself, the care given through withdrawal and the opioid treatment programme are all free, funded by Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) within the public health system.
Because the unit is government funded, there is no private rate and private health insurance is not needed. Nothing is listed about Medicare, NDIS, WorkCover or any contribution from a Centrelink payment towards a stay, so ask the admissions team what, if anything, to bring and what the days in the unit involve.

DASSA Withdrawal Services (inpatient) Reviews
Reviews of DASSA Withdrawal Services from around the web are limited, which is usual for public detoxification units where privacy matters to those admitted. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for this unit, and anyone who has been through withdrawal at Fullarton Road is welcome to share their experience.
For a unit like this, the details worth reading are how quickly a place became available, how the assessment was handled on the phone, what the first night was like and what support was arranged afterwards. An account of that kind tells you or a loved one more than any rating could.
Very helpful and friendly staff. I wouldn't be writing this if it wasn't for their help. Thank you DASSA ☺️
Not helpful information
Once these people get a hold of ya, they pester the hell out of you. They wont take NO for answer, its suppost to be voluntary. They make appointments without even asking. I had to get a family member to demand they… stop harassing me. Please be careful with this service people, only go with them if 100% have no other choice.
I have just left DASSA Glenside due to several personal issues. Upon admission I was in a very, very bad way however their professional approach and attitude knows no bounds. Every single staff member went out of there… way to help me. All staff are extremely professional and friendly. I wouldn't wish that anyone have serious issues so as to attend Glenside, however if you are sick and travelling rough, you couldn't be in better hands. I have so much respect for Glenside / SA Health - they should be proud of the professional services they provide.
Awesome people awesome support.. Relapsed.. need go again
Had a very horrible experience with this place. Was booked in on a Monday for a 5 day stay detoxing from alcohol. I received a text message 2 hours prior to admission saying my stay had been canceled. Called them to ask… when I could rebook my stay and Didn’t receive a phone call back till the following day. They then re-booked me in for Thursday (3 days later) ..as I had stopped drinking a few days before the Monday I was supposed to arrive they would not allow me to stay on the Thursday as I had not had a drink in 6 days they said I would of needed to have had a drink within a day or two before Thursday to be admitted! I genuinely needed help with my withdrawals and my mindset and I was pushed away as if they didn’t care. I was shocked at the lack of professionalism in this place, The lady I had spoke to on the Wednesday the day before my arrival asked when my last drink was and I had told her “5 days ago” she then replied “that’s great well done we will see you tomorrow”. Absolute waste of time and energy wouldn’t recommend this place from my experience at all.
Not long enough for anyone to detox and a lot depends on who you are as to what you get
I have been here a few times and am looking at going in again.they treat you like royalty!
Caring, helpful & friendly staff who I genuinely felt were concerned about my and others welfare. A hard place to get ones head around, and requires commitment and strength beyond strength. But if it is at all possible,… this is the crowd to do it with.
A great start but not a solution. Great nurses, very considerate, friendly and very understanding. (My personal experiences)
