I have not had any issues thankfully with MHMR. I only gave 4 stars because both my case manager and my provider whom I liked have left. No complaints about the new people I’m seeing tho. Dr. Shali George was great to… work with!

Wilfully neglectful, do not take your child anywhere near here. My son had been going here for almost 2 years, on and off different types of medication. The medication my son is currently on he has documented violent… outbursts. Dr Nekkalapu is negligent and unprofessional. Watch yourselves with Ceria hurt also her and her team are only going to look out for themselves. Plz keep yourselves/ kids safe out there yall! Edit (to respond to their comment) - I went through the client advocate process many times with no help at all. I assume all of the reviewers have as well. The “Client Advocate” is only in place to protect the employees and business and not the patients. Shame on you MHMR! People, including children, come to you at their most vulnerable and you make it worse for them.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I want to give a huge thank you to the team at Denton County MHMR, especially Megan at reception. The receptionist staff is always kind, welcoming, and professional, but Megan truly went above and beyond for me. I… was having trouble getting an appointment with a nurse for a medication refill. After waiting in the lobby for over an hour, I was told that the nursing department wanted me to go home and leave a voicemail. I do understand the nurses stay extremely busy and work hard, I was feeling discouraged and wasn't sure what to do next. Before I left, Megan stopped me and said, "Hold up, don't leave and drive home yet. Let me speak to a manager." A few minutes later, everything was resolved. I was able to get my medication refill and head home relieved. It had been a rough week, and seeing someone take the time to genuinely help me when they didn't have to really meant a lot. Megan's kindness and initiative made a difficult situation so much better. Thank you, Megan, and thank you to all the staff at Denton County MHMR. Every employee I've interacted with has been awesome, and I'm grateful for the care and support you provide to all of us.

Aside from offering free mental health services, I would not recommend Denton MHMR. I am consistently on time for my appointments, yet they are almost always running 15 to 40 minutes behind. The front desk rarely… communicates delays, so patients are left waiting without updates. At the same time, patients are only given a 10-minute grace period. If you are late, you will not be seen. There does not seem to be mutual respect for patients’ time. I have raised concerns about this multiple times, but nothing has changed. The front desk often does not know what is going on, and communication between staff appears very disorganized. I was recently told I had a bill, but no one could explain what it was for. This is a place where you have to push and advocate constantly just to receive consistent care. Considering they serve people who may already be navigating mental health challenges, you would expect more empathy, clearer communication, and respect for patients’ time. Instead, the environment can feel dismissive, as if patients should simply be grateful to receive services regardless of the experience. Mental health care should feel supportive and structured. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here.

The process to receive help is seemingly never-ending. And for me, that just means I won't make it through all the steps to get help. Tried twice to get enrolled in care and each time it was way too many steps for me to… get to the part where I got care.... Still suffering....

Denton Mhmr has me constantly battling with them over my care. They constantly have you traveling into the clinic. Which is impossible if you don't have income. They don't reach out if you miss something to check in.… The negligence of being in and out of medications leave you in constant crisis. It has crippled my mental health due to whiplash of on medication and withdrawals. So expect hell with this place because they don't care. They don't care. Had to navigate resource and actions that got you dangerously close to oblivion. Again I find myself in withdrawal because they cannot zoom meet or refuse to be available for patients. I ended up in the hospital due to withdrawal because they didn't give me a provider appointment. Prepare to be miserable. Prepare for constant crisis

Was in a backroom on a telephone session with the perscribing physican and was told the girl Brianna or somethin would be back to get me and not to move and after over 45 minutes of being forgotten I left and went back… out to the lobby. At another appointment day I had fussed at someone about that in the lobby after being forced to wait an extremely long time to talk to the provider w/ my fussy 2yo in stroller. They apologized and said that was not okay and sounded genuine but also it was sooo close to closing time that I could have been locked in the building possibly

They are all 150% incompetent!! They don’t know how to fill out paperwork and send it back to a certain place even though you have filled out the proper consent form because the “consent form people” doesn’t talk to the… other departments.. If you have a problem with a so called doctor they want you to go to appointment with the doctor to basically say why you don’t want that doctor anymore.. this place creates more chaos than they help with

My doctor and case manager will not assist me with any helpful treatment. I have asked for counseling, coping, trauma therapy and have not received anything. My medication caused me to have an allergic reaction and I… was prescribed more but as far as helpful treatment.

I am a patient at Denton MHMR and while I was waiting in the lobby, I overheard a nurse talking politics with someone and introduced themself as Marissa or Melissa. The words I overheard were “let all these foreigners…”… and while I did not hear the entire conversation, hearing those words made me uncomfortable. I believe it is truly unprofessional to be discussing politics in the workplace and considering that the people that work there must follow HIPPA regulations. I ask that someone please talk the nurse about it and let her know that this is not okay.

This place is awful, I just had to take a day off work to see my doctor and finally get on medications as I recently got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and come to find out my case manager gave me the wrong… appointment time so I ended up missing it and the only other appointment times they have for me is TWO MONTHS from now, yall seriously expect me to go unmedicated and wait for THAT LONG when it’s EXTREMELY clear how badly this is effecting my life and ability to work? I need medication NOW and all I have gotten so far is wasted time, you all should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves

★☆☆☆☆
Samuel Blair2 years ago

You will wait two-3 hours if you arrive on time for an appointment. They will not give you enough medication till your next appointment and thus you're forced to use their awful voice message system where the operator… has the most monotone quieted slow voice ever, if you were in a crisis or needed your medication stat this would be the biggest barrier next to no one ever being on the line at all. The 2-3 hour wait is egregious enough waste of people's time.

This place is the absolute worst. I never received the help I needed from them in Over a year in their “care”. They dangle hope in front of you so that they can experiment on you. I’ve had them refuse to prescribe the… one medication that actually works in favor of a dozen that did not and actually made my condition much worse, causing me to experience a plethora of side- effects including but not limited to increased suicidal tendencies, heart problems where I previously had none, sleep problems where I previously had none, and a brand new nicotine addiction due to clinical negligence (refusing to properly treat a previously existing and professionally treated anxiety disorder)! I was verbally and physically assaulted by another patient while trying to receive care during an emergency visit, and constantly harassed via phone when I felt suicidal. Yeah, some of the staff are nice but it doesn’t make up for the head and money games they play (did I mention I was dealing with homelessness at the time?) The caseworker turnover rate is so high- they never returned my calls and I was assigned a new one so rapidly I could never obtain the counseling I need (waitlisted for a year) or any other special services they supposedly offer the public. I have contacted their “rights officer” but nothing was ever done about any of these issues. I am thoroughly convinced that this facility is designed to experiment on the indigent and feeble- the ones who need the most help and have the least ability to defend themselves. Now that I’ve worked my tail off to right my own situation with a full time job and insurance they want $100 a month PLUS medication copays to be mistreated, neglected and denied the medication I actually need to survive day to day? NO THANK YOU MHMR! You won’t bill my insurance for 1 red cent! Time to find a REAL DOCTOR. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!! SHAME ON THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS PLACE!
