If Genesee Health System treated you or someone close to you, your account would help the next family deciding.
It has taken me almost 8 months to establish a case for my daughter With Genesee health systems. Currently, I am still without a day program for her which I had hoped would be going since she finished her schooling in… June. It is absolutely unacceptable how slow this process is. Fortunately for her, she has an advocate and I shutter to think about those who are just disabled who don’t have one and how they could ever navigate the system without it. Do better!
Dropped off my partner to get a health checkup and she had blood drawn in the Lab, they are unsanitary they had a mentally unwell and disabled woman in the room before her and did not wipe the chair down before calling… my partner, she said the chair stinks over text and then I came to pick her up 20 minutes later and she smelled absolutely horrible had to take a shower when we got home, and my car reeks now which I work out of daily.
They do excellent help
I’ve received services from GHS for years. The staff hate their job and do not act like they enjoy helping people. They have continued to treat me and others unprofessionally, however, unfortunately for many, GHS is the… only option due to insurance reasons. If the staff are not getting paid enough to give adequate care to patients and customers, that should be taken up with Genesee County, not me. I apologize to those that have no other choice than GHS and hope you are blessed with the kinder staff, because they do exist, however most of the staff have a very dismissive, condescending, and patronizing attitude, that has not been appreciated for many years. Human to humans, get it together.
I’ve been going to GHS off and on since I was a child back then it was called CMH I showed up on there door step begging them for help 15 yrs ago they help me in ways no one could now my son is going there wasn’t for… sure if I did the right thing when he lost himself now that I see that what I did for him lead him to GHS I know I did my son is in very good hands couldn’t ask for a better place to help him then GHS thank you for everything you’ve done for me
I have a been with a person that had receive care from this place and it seem like they are not very good in keeping in contact with that person to make sure they are okay. This is really bad for the person that has a… need of mental health care and need to be checked on often.
Rescheduling is difficult with GHS.
My brother's case manager Jaquina Andrew's is a wonderful woman. She has gone above and beyond any expectations of a case manager. Thank you!
I have had to be involved in so many departments for mental health court. From the front desk and security, DBT, case management, I have worked with realistically some of the best staff members I have ever encountered… throughout my life. I'm most grateful for every single one of them especially my case manager Jared and my DBT therapist Amber! Life changers no question to it! The entire place is a light. When I seen the rating I was wholeheartedly so surprised. There is no way the staff members alone get a solid 5 star rating! This facility will be a blessing for your life.
The CEO is named Dan Russel. With all this CCBHC grant money to improve the services yet services in our county are terrible. Is that money going in your pocket Dan? Here is our story: I am righting this grievance in… regards to my husband. He was closed to crisis intervention services in late April after they provided services post mental health crisis in which he was treated for psychosis symptoms at Hurley hospital April 9th in the E.R. and released. His symptoms of mania and psychosis presented again and gradually worsened from April 28th until Sunday May 4th. We were told explicitly by the crisis team “not to call 911 but to call them first during their services”. On May 4th I called the Crisis Mobile Unit at 6:58 p.m. and two workers (one by the name of Toni Cobbin) responded and completed a evaluation. They completed the evaluation and Justin in a manic/ psychosis state asked them to leave. I escorted them out and asked about treatment options and hospitalization. I was told by Toni that they could come back out if I needed them too, bring a mental health petition, and have EMS dispatched. On Monday May 5th I had Justin sent to Henry Ford in Grand Blanc for his symptoms. He walked away from the hospital, threw out his phone and wallet due to paranoia and delusions and walked to a local business we are familiar with and had them call me to come get him. I retrieved him, took him home, and called the Crisis Mobile Unit at 1:07 p.m. They had Toni call me back and I requested they come back out and bring a petition and have EMS dispatched again. I explained the events of they day and that I was anticipating my young children (under the ages of 10) to arrive home from the school bus. Toni refused services stating “Since Justin declined our services we wont be coming back out”. I pleaded with her for help at which point she said she could “come back out to stabilize the situation” which I answered “yes please come and bring a petition”. She declined and again reiterated Justin refused the service the night before. She then told me I could take him to the behavioral health urgent care or I could go to probate court to get the petition. He was clearly not in his right state of mind, unable to care for his basic needs, and a danger to himself due to symptoms. He never refused their service; he only asked them to leave on Sunday May 4th during a episode of manic psychosis. Leaving him alone to go to probate court would heighten the risk as he was a risk to himself due to his hallucinations and delusions and would risk the safety of my children. We ended the call after she refused services and left me with unhelpful and unfeasible options. At this time I was able to involve a family member. EMS was called and the family member escorted the ambulance so I could stay with my children. The family member signed the petition which was provided by Hurley Hospital. If I had not had the support of family the situation would have escalated and likely resulted in injury and/or death due to the nature of manic psychosis. It is the designated task of a mental health mobile crisis unit to provide services to those who seek it and I was denied in trying to get care for my husband. He was mandated 7 nights psych inpatient to control symptoms after crisis stabilization refused services to us. They advertise like they are hero's don't let them fool you, they do more harm than good. There are too many people in need who don't have family members to help in this county for these services to be denied over arbitrary reasons. And it's not a rights violation because the mental health code only protects those who have Medicaid.
Do not, I repeat, Do NOT go here if you need an actual doctor's help. Spent 7 hours sitting in a wheelchair for Status migrainosus which is the worst migraine you can have lasting over 72 hours with nausea and… dehydration. SITTING in a chair! No relief, nothing. Had they not stuck a intravenous catheter in my arm (mind you they put nothing in it!) I would have walked out. This place is a pill pusher, money taker facility and that is it.
Called and talked with someone that said they would have someone call the person that I called about, never happened. They have MANY bad reviews and all the replies are the same cut and paste answer, please call the… friendly main number. How can this place get funded with this type of service?
They don’t answer the phone, at all. Worthless.
Crisis line a waste of time, transfer over makes you repeat when in distress and in pain. Things have been randomly canceled on me too so there's no help from other sources. Just going to an er doesn't save people.
DO NOT COME HERE After sitting on the phone for an hour to get my child into the system I was told to just walk in between 9-2:30 to finish the process but bring my daughter. So kept my child with a learning disability… out of school from her programs there just to be turned away. My child has been hurting herself and acting out so help is what she desperately need and they turn her away basically. This is why people are not surviving now days cause the professionals are not taking mental health seriously. I will find my daughter the right help so that I don’t lose here. DO NOT COME HERE. THEY DONT CARE. What a waste of money used on a building full off people that don’t care
Tanisha has been my case manager for well over a year now and she is absolutely phenomenal and a beautiful soul. I am grateful she is a part of my team. I really struggled with my doctor before I got assigned to Dr.… Lynch but she is also equally amazing and she finally helped me with a diagnosis I've been struggling to be seen with for a long time. not only did she provide me with medication but she helped give great tips that to this day help me manage it outside my medicine. I move in a month or two and I'm honestly really bummed about the fact it means I will loose them both but I know that means some other consumer will be blessed with them on their side. I know as a consumer we are there to be provided a service and sometimes that requires showing up and advocating for ourselves a little. The doctor I had prior I felt very judged under and getting assigned a new one was a relief for me. update to add: I got blood drawn this morning and Mary was really kind and probably did the best anyone ever has inserting a need to draw from. like I barely felt it so big shout out to her also!!
I went into this place thinking I would be getting service for mental help. The case worker I received was and older lady on the forth floor with grey hair and fairly short. As i spoke to her about my mental health… issues, and answered her questions, she often interrupted me to tell me Im wrong with my answer or if she believed my answers were vague she would dramatically roll her eyes and drop her whole body. I almost wanted to cry. When i started to refuse answers she pushed and forced me to continue. I will never be using this service again. It is disgusting to treat patients with such coldness and in a nonprofessional way. If you are feeling depressed do not go here. There are better options.
My husband & I went here today & had a great experience so I wanted to give a 5 star rating. We needed certain paperwork stating a test result regarding my minor child from an out-of-the-area clinic & they went out of… their way to help & made sure we received it today! I always give honest reviews.
Terrible. Refusal of services that are desperately needed. I do not know how they receive funding but it’s a farce. These people may be compassionate but are clueless. This is not a system at all. It’s hollow. Looks… good on paper but is just a shell.
I have tried and tried to get in here. They have all these stipulations like only open 8-2, you can’t make an appointment, and even when I got there at 7:45, I was behind about 10-12 people. I waited about 20min to get… to the receptionist who just let in the person in front of me through, and wouldn’t you know, when I step up she’s says the morning appointments are booked. I am a single mom who had to pull my kid from day care and miss the first half of work that I need every hour just to be turned away. Now I have to bring my kid to work and hope he behaves… it’s just so much for nothing. They should at least make their hours later.
Its very sad our mental health system here in flint is absolutely Terrible!
The psychiatrist I spoke too did not care about what I had to say/how I felt/ or how I was acting. She had attitude and really just didn’t seem like she cared about her job at all!
