I personally had a good experience here. It’s overall a good facility that did help but it has the same problems other facilities have. Kids are often put into lockdown for small issues which can be for months! Kids… were constantly bullied. This facility has restraints that sometimes lead to injuries. I thankfully was on the right meds but most were very over medicated. Kids unable to stay awake for class for example. This facility itself is great but listen to your child! Everything said in these other reviews are true.

Be aware that this place is considered a "therapeutic boarding school" and is not an actual Residential Treatment Center. Do your due diligence before giving them access to your money and child. I say your money… because, despite their promises, your health insurance is unlikely to pay for boarding schools, leaving you with a big surprise bill to pay.

Cant tell you how many kids I went here with that are now dead.. This place teaches you nothing. Just a cash cow business making bank off the California school system. Don't send your child here. It's not hard to… pretend your problems are fixed because you want to leave this prison. Smile and wave boys, we'll be out in 10 months with good behavior.

If you’ve never seen “cruel instructions” I suggest to watch it before you send your kids to this place.

I was there for 10 months and it wasn’t too bad at first but over time you lose a part of yourself you don’t have free will every single second of your day is planned out for you being in your room is considered a… privilege which to me is insane the amount of food they waste is ridiculous we were never allowed seconds and yet trays full of food would be thrown out I had a student threaten to beat me up and being there was absolute agony. The coaches I had were fantastic if anything they were the best part and what kept me sane you had to do anything they told you or you would lose points and not be rewarded with super Saturday I felt like I couldn’t say I don’t want to do that to anything or you would be seen as problematic I have no idea how I didn’t lose my mind while I was there but I would rather do all of public school high school all over again than have to do this again I still have nightmares that I’m being sent back there overall I just felt like I wasn’t real that I was just a zombie of a human being

What is residential treatment like? Long-term residential treatment is an immersive learning experience. Many students at The Heritage Community arrive under some incredibly challenging circumstances to a new… environment with 24/7 supervision, a no drug & alcohol policy, roommates, housemates, new rules, new expectations, new adult mentors, new classes, new teachers, and at least one assigned therapist. Every person brings their own unique background and looks for where they can fit in The Heritage Community. There are some artistic kids and talented singers who come through and have their own opinion on the best way to keep themselves entertained. There are positive and negative behaviors choosing between the good and bad is a challenge for many of the people on the campus. What is it like as a youth residential treatment coach? The strong coaches and mentors who work in the Elevate Academy are lightning rods of support and strength. A coach spends time with the challenges of youth, takes time, and works with the youth to find solutions. When has life gotten better at The Heritage Community? Just the other day, a kid learned how to ride a bike for the first time in their life.

For years I have stayed silent about the treatment I endured at Heritage School/Treatment Center located in Utah County on the border of Provo & Orem. I was sent there by the State Of Illinois when I was 13 years old… being separated from my brother and sister. My arrival there was confusing and frustrating due to the fact I was just ripped away from my siblings. I was closed off toward any type of treatment offered by the program. I had 3 different therapist during my stay there , and I appreciate them all. For years I ran away and caused so much drama "I thought they'd give up on me". I went through so much abuse as a child that I couldn't trust anymore or anyone. Eventually I was kicked out of Heritage and was sent to a all boys school in Iowa. I eventually Graduated from high school a day there shortly after landed in Prison. Much of my adult life I was a number list in some prison somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I have now put all that behind d me I'm a father of 6 amazing kids, and I'm a husband to someone I love. I wish I could have gotten the picture back when everyone was trying to teach me back then. So many years I chose to be bitter or put on an image or personna that really wasn't whom I truly intended to be. Hating the world only licks you away from the you we really are deep inside. I could have stopped being a victim and chose to live my life. I look at my kids every day and thank God I allowed myself to break the chain and strangely I remember all those groups and individual therapy sessions "the ones my therapist didn't think I got"and it's because of their generosity I was finally able to change my life. We are ready when we are ready "just don't let it be when it's to late".

was there for ~7 months on the spark side. almost everyone there (kid and even staff) were entitled and rude— i had to deal with racism towards me and other concerning behaviors that were probably the staff’s job to… handle. but, they’d do nothing abt it so i had to go out of my way to consistently ask for issues to be solved (they never were.) even talking to the higher ups myself (executives, directors, just leadership members in general) no action was taken whatsoever. they also fired the only good staff member 🤷 i was miserable the entire time and it genuinely made me worse but they told me i was “one of the ones who shouldn’t have been there” so i’ll take that? shout out to the kids who are actively treatment reading this review though you guys got this. overall wouldn’t recommend sending your child here unless you want to be sent to a nursing home when you’re older.

The Heritage Community is not a suitable place for young children due to the unprofessional behavior of the staff. They are known to treat the kids badly, are negative, discriminate against them and have been reported… to have physically hit them at times.
