About Northwest Childrens Home Inc – Lewiston
Northwest Childrens Home Inc operates from 1630 23rd Avenue in Lewiston. The site sits in Nez Perce County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Lapwai and Moscow. Idaho draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Care offered spans more than one level, which means someone can move between them without changing provider.

Treatment Services at Northwest Childrens Home Inc
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Waiting times move with capacity, and what was true last month may not hold this week.

Northwest Childrens Home Inc Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 1630 23rd Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501, in Nez Perce County. The catchment reaches Lapwai and Moscow. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.
Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

I read many of the other reviews, and I have to disagree. I have been is so many placements, I have never been in a home longer than I year. With such a crappy life and only being 15 years old, I found NCH to be a game… changer. I found help and had an amazing counselor. Problems only aroused if a peer caused one. Staff only held you accountable for what you did and gave you fair consequences. The opportunities NCH presents to youth like me are huge. The things NCH does for children is amazing. I should probably add that I left a month ago. If you ever read this "The Halocheif 1177", I am afraid that Alex doesn't work there anymore. Carry does, though. Anyway, I feel that anybody looking to send their child there should absolutely do so. And to all the reviews that say it's a horrible place and all that, I have two things for you. Had you accepted the help the children's home offered, I'm sure you would take responsibility for your actions. Also, if NCH is such a bad, horrible place, why have they been around since 1908?
i was at s.c.p. special care program when the building was first built and scott mosure was there i was then transferred to south house i really didn't know why i was there but i remember when the building was brand new… i was 13 maybe 14 and now im 53 it's changed so much since i left to a place called challenge group home in boise Idaho anyway lots of memories
I went back in 2011~ish as a kid I remember Rodney, Alex (who was a big part on how I changed and became who I am today wish I could thank him personally if anyone knows his name LMK!) I remember Josh, Gabe, Bob, carry,… and WILL! those are the people I remember, I was in the child house across from the main road/playground I hope that someone remembers Alex because I used to not be able to read properly and was always in behaviors he would sit with me and read his college books to me and help me calm down and de-escalate. I was fr a problem kid. But I 🙏 someone remembers this era and can possibly help me find Alex! So I can thank him personally for the development in my childhood 🙏 Edit: I found the picture I got on I think it was Brian's motorcycle after I left! He used a Polaroid camera pretty sick
Hey my name is jimmy ferriera I went here 7 years ago they treated me like garbage they didn’t help what’s so ever they hit the kids my social worker never gave me a reason to why I went here I was there for about 2… years I came out with trauma always watching my back always scared of the little things they would intentionally throw u in the safe room and try to hurt u kids would cut them selfs to the point where the was blood all over the walls and they didn’t seem to help or care if u was in ur room by urself people could just walk in they had no respect it’s the worst group home over ever been in it didn’t help me it made my life harder and made my anger and anxiety so much worse so I suggest never going here there was time when kids would try to rape u there was time where staff would know and not care I went on the run quite a few times cause I felt safer then I did in the home I used to cut myself I used to want to fight cause if I didn’t I felt like I was in danger I could never sleep I slept with one eye open this place is horrible I’m 19 now as soon as I left that place I had so much more ptsd I’ve been in foster care for a long time I wasn’t a good child but I was hurt so much moved around no one seemed to care about me only the money they get for watching the kids I suffer with anger issues I vape and smoke weed now I just came off of hard drugs I have sleep paralysis I can’t trust anyone I stand up for myself now I will never be back there to all the staff I wish I could forgive u but I can’t there was one cool staff there he was african American and like 6’11 with his shoes on he was the only cool staff when he left it was scary I felt alone I wanted to get in trouble or find away out of my abyss I hope everyone that went here will understand watch ur back and don’t let ur guard down
I was here from 2002-2004, I remember Winnie, Martin, and my advocate her name was Ginny, I also remember Linda the counselor. I think the part I liked most here was the swimming pool and the wood shop, I made alot of… cool things in shop class. I returned home in January of 2004, met my husband at the age of 18 in December of 2004, and we were married march 15th 2005, still going strong. The only thing this place taught me was how to fear men. I used to call every so often and check in with Winnie and Linda to let them know how I was doing. Well at 38 years old, 20 years of marriage, and 7 kids later, I'd say I'm doing pretty damn good, no thanks to NCH and the staff that only showed up to get a paycheck.
I was a resident here in the JEWITT House from Jan 14th 2004 to Jan 15th 2005 from age 16 to just before 18 this place cause me a severe amount of PTSD, clausterphobia, and plenty more trauma where that came from. The… staff literally abused us any chance they got for any little reason they could come up with.. One day in August of 2004 after a visit with my dad where i got my cartiledge pierced on the top of my ear, once ge left i got really sad I was in the milieu (their word for living room) i was standing in the the floor legth widnow crying because i missed my dad and i didnt know when i would see hin again. i was upset Winnie as she liked to be called came in and told me i needed to go to the safe room ( a 7×7 cell because i was emotional i just wanted to be comforted i just wanted to be left alone, i refused to go be locked in a tiny cell so she physically grabbed me slammed me down onto the ground had me by my hair and was slamming my head into the window sill on the floor my brand new 1 hour old piercing was smashed multiple times into the hard surface it hurt so bad id never felt pain like it at that time my ear was pierced several more times as the earing went in and out every time she slammed my head down which i kept lifting up because the pain in my ear was so bad. my ear extreemly swollen black and blue and green after her attack. i was then dragged to the "saferoom" thrown inside and the door slammed behind me where Winnie stood on a peddle that locked me inside the room with no knobs on the inside and no windows and having zero contact with humans this is where i would remain for weeks at a time. the enviroment was very very dictatorship we were not cared about. our best intrest was never top priority. i was robbed of an adequate education my senior year of highschool i spent in their "on campus school" that serviced all the grades. i worked out of text books no lectures no lessons no teaching nothing. i was drugged by their onsite psychologist diagnoaed with deveral disorders that were later disproved in adulthood. they drug the children there they abuse them i had seen more abuse from this particular group home than i had ever had in my entore life. the therapist at the time her name was Linda Lucas she had a little malteese puppy named lilly i believe if my memory serves me well she was ok but she wasnt a therapist you could trust. not once the entire year i lived there did i feel safe. i had issues as a teen dont get me wrong i was angry and traumatized. but when youre a teen in the early 2000s and youre creating havoc by running away and doing stupid shit the government doesnt really approve. I ran away aloyy while at NICH i felt safer on the run than i ever did in that home. the stories from there are endless they roomed me one time with a girl who happened to secually assault me. she then grew up to be a sex offender in her adult life. my safety and well being was never put first. our lives were in the complete mercy of these adults who are supposedly suppose to be trustworthy and "help" us were the ones hurting us i had issues at 17 dont get me wrong i was an entitled wildchild who just wanted to be understood and loved sadly i didnt get any of that from this place. i left NICH more messed up than i came in .thankfully i met my husband in August of 2005 and weve been together ever since we have 2 beautiful daughters. ive been in therapy for more than a decade. i am still in therapy today constantly dealing with the trauma i endured there. i have flash backs and nightmares, i have panic attacks and OCD. I have severe ptsd and trauma responses still at 37 years old I'll be 38 in march. theres a million more things i could say about this place. every single bit of it true with documentation and "incident reports" to back up every statement i make. this is how i experienced the horror of this "home" i may still deal with daunting PTSD that came from the sever abuse from this place and their staff. but i have forgiven. i cant tell you why but i have. but i will never ever forget.
I was their in 84 for 10 months. I didn't find it helpful. My reasons for being there were never addressed😢
I lived here 33 years ago and coming here brought me back to some of the best days of my life. I owe them so much for being my support system. It brought back so many memories. I was there 86-88 looking. For others who… lived there then
My friend went there, and needless to say, it messed them up pretty badly. I suggest not ever going here.
I was there a few years ago. They treated me horribly. And not only that they would take my stuff a lot and never give it all back. Sometimes even letting other kids take it. I lost at least 200 dollars or more worth of… stuff from my family. There were many times I'd also be attack by other kids there and not receive help. I was restrained once while trying to get away from a peer trying to smash my head into the table at jewett house. It is not a safe place. At all. And I regret ever agreeing to go there.
I was there as a kid from 89 to 90. My last name was Tryon. Good place i had no problems. Thank you
Helpful and professional
I had the pleasure of meeting some of the employees during their health fair last year. These people are a unique bunch of loving individuals that I truly believe, would do it for free if they didn’t have bills. They… take their jobs to heart and give these broken adolescents a place that lovingly works with them to create positive bonds. They deserve an award for all the great things they do!
I was here in the 90's as a child and I loved what they had done for me great place for children in need of care
Caring and trauma informed care. Beautiful campus.
