Nimiipuu Behavioral Health – Lapwai

I been going to the clinic for a good 20 years and it’s a very good place back 10 years ago but in the past 10 years and especially since Covid shut down everything it’s been like a morgue with no consistent results… with my health other than my doctor not being available on my appointment date and my dentist appointment date are the same wait 2 months in pain and suffering to be called the day of my appointment to say the dentist will be not coming in and if you are still in pain just come as a walk in right now at 8am -9 am for a emergency visit??? I really should have done that two months ago with my infection in my mouth and teeth but they don’t seem to care about your health issues and just tell you that you can go somewhere else.(even though I’m a card holding native) I feel as if they only care about the family members of the people working there and not the general public or a outside tribal people. I keep trying to get help from this clinic and do nothing but suffer from not being able to get. I express I would be better off dead and the head of the clinic reply’s. Yes you should… 🥲 After no results with getting mental health treatment and medication for two years and suffering from depression anxiety and sin. To have my doctor get in a wreck and stop seeing patients without notice and now after two months of waiting for my three severe cavity to be repaired. My Monday appointment was cancelled with no explanation or rescheduled but I had a second appointment today and it went. Showed up at 10:45 for the 11 o’clock appointment and got to the dentist chair at 11:26 . The assistant told me that I was there for treatment to the right side of my mouth and I explained no we were discussing two months ago doing the left side and hopefully not needing a root canal. She continued talking about fixing the right side??? The doctor came in and then after explaining the plan we had two months ago he started working on the decay in the left side and knowing I still had lots of feelings in the tooth he continued for 20 minutes as I had tears running out of my eyes and nearly jumping out of the chair from what felt like the nerves of my tooth being ground out. He decided to look at his notes on my file and seen he had thought I possibly needed a root canal. But he felt like he had another try at the cavity and I continued jumping in my chair he stopped saying.” Think you have went through enough today “ I said yes I needed to stop and I never had so much pain and suffering in my entire life!! He had left the room without even talking about what I needed to do next or what to do about his cancellation the day before???? I noticed that everyone was off to lunch already and I couldn’t even make a follow up appointment or a new appointment for their cancellation the day before. I tried to talk to the clinic supervisor but was told to fill out a comment paper and leave because they felt they should call the tribal police??? So after the threat of being arrested for wanting to make a formal in person complaint with my wife who witnessed everything.. I left knowing that I was not welcome back

Dear Staff at Nimiipuu Health I appreciate Pam Riesdorph in Contract Health, she is helpful, efficient and pleasant to work with! I am so thankful for Nimiipuu Health, I feel well cared for by our Clinic Staff and I… know how valuable it is to have coverage because my husband is non-Native and we pay almost $700 a month in Health insurance premiums and we still have to pay deductibles and for medications and dental work and the infrequent trips to the emergency room. I also appreciate the work done by the ladies in community health to bring the Mammobile out to Lapwai! It is so convienent to get a Mammogram in Lapwai and instead of it being a negative visit, they have converted it into a fun day of food, prizes and fellowship. The staff at behavioral health has always been a huge support to my emotional well being! Many thanks to Larry Teurherst, Kristi Keuffess, and Gary Grogen and of course Donna Henry. I cannot say enough good things about our Nimiipuu Health family. The providers and nurses are exemplary!
