I am deeply disappointed with the way this psychotherapy center handled my care. After my original therapist left, I was assigned to someone who wasn’t a good fit. When I asked to be evaluated for a different therapist,… I was told there was no availability and was instead given referrals to other providers. Being turned away like that made me feel dismissed and abandoned. If someone were in a severe mental health crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts, being told there’s no room could have serious consequences. I hope this practice finds ways to support patients better so no one else feels unsupported at such a vulnerable time.

I had an intake appointment scheduled with this clinic. Unfortunately, because I was in a public place, I was told I would need to reschedule. However, when I called back, the case manager informed me there was no… option to reschedule and instead suggested I seek care at another clinic. The most frustrating part is that I specifically requested a therapist who had been highly recommended to me by another patient. I explained that I was comfortable continuing the conversation in a private area away from other people, but that didn’t seem to matter. Rather than working with me to find a reasonable solution, the appointment was simply canceled, and I was turned away. As a potential patient, it left me feeling like rigid policies were prioritized over access to mental health care. When someone reaches out for help, flexibility and compassion should come first. My experience made it feel as though administrative rules were valued more than the people seeking treatment. Mental health care should be centered on the patient—not on policies that make it harder for someone to receive help. Unfortunately, this experience gave me the impression that the business side of the clinic took priority over patient care.

Gibs has been my therapist at this location for 6 and 1/2 months and I have to say that the warmth that I have felt in the positive energy and feedback that radiates from this employee is something extremely remarkable.… He doesn't just listen he truly cares as someone that has gone through multiple therapists feeling like I wasn't being understood or heard I found a safe haven when I met Gibs. He is extremely attentive, very caring, and truly enjoys his job and makes sure that he always leaves you feeling better than before you had your session. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling with depression, trauma, PTSD or any form of anxiety to not hesitate to call the center and book a session trust me you will not regret it.

Editing this for the 4th time, this is not the only clinic that I have had issues with, I'm coming from from Los Angeles and San Francisco therapy. I'm curious if something to do with New York?? I've never had these… problems🙃 Do not go here if you are Autistic you will get mistaken for difficult IYKYK 👥️do not go here if you need someone to advocate for your needs. They will bend themselves and the space-time Continuum into pretzels using home-cooked logic to tell you why they wont. (such as signing required documents confirming that you are receiving Mental Health support that will allow you to participate in an activity or that which state that you may require special accommodation) 🦮do not go here if you require papers for your emotional support animal. They will deny you. I have not experienced this personally as I do not require a support animal. But it has been confirmed that they will refuse. 🗣🧱Talking to any supervisor here is like talking to a brick wall, and they are always on the back foot / defensive so even when you are trying to be reasonable they will still talk to you from the point of wanting to deny anything you're saying or asking ( we're talking about being so defensive and permanently on the back foot that asking to spell a name of a psychiatrist will automatically get denied just because they're not really listening to you until you become exasperated and lose your cool) Only go here if you want to be re-traumatized. If you want your experience of life to be de-legitimized. I've had 4 counselors from here: 1. One of them was good Kyra Alston, and no matter what mood I came in there with I always logged out of the chat feeling at least three times better. I know that's not the point of therapy but somehow she was able to make the magic happen. 2. The first one was actually kind of good up until the moment where she started using our sessions as her own session. And started using racially charged language towards me. 3. The third one is constantly gaslighting me. She was so unresponsive that at one point I literally thought that her webcam had frozen up. When I told her that I felt uncomfortable with her unresponsiveness, she told me I was looking too deep into body language, facial expressions, and tone. And constantly is telling me that the reason why I feel so isolated is that my communication style might be a problem. I can't help but feel that something is very off.. In our last session, I had started venting over something that she said, because like I said, it's very re-traumatizing to talk to her. When I was done, she said, "Can I speak now? Can I talk now?" Excuse me? But somehow I'm looking too deep into her tone, facial expression, etc., and she insinuated that I was doing that outside of therapy, most likely. I don't see how that phrase could be taken any other way than passive-aggressive and antagonistic. When I called it out, she said, "No, no, I was just making sure that you were able to speak and say your piece." For someone who is known to be as isolated as I am, and who I have shared that vulnerability with her, she should very well know that this might be the only place where a person might be able to feel heard or understood, and she's making absolutely no attempts. In fact, it feels like she is antagonistic. This being the third therapist, and she literally cannot contain her contempt. I'm starting to think that this place accepts reject counselors. It's actually messing with my sense of self-worth and triggering depression, of which I was not depressed before I started talking to this latest therapist. Engage with them at your own risk. Unfortunately I've given this place so many chances because of my insurance, I have met two good therapist (both way too good for this place) here one of them left to start her own practice. the therapists here have a very poor way of going about rupture and repair... They spend more time defending themselves than being therapists and hearing folks out when you bring up a rupture and offer a chance for repair and mutual understanding.

My experience with New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I repeatedly requested a therapist change and sent multiple emails asking for help, but I was largely met… with silence and lack of communication. Instead of feeling supported as a patient seeking mental health treatment, I felt ignored and pushed aside. One of the biggest concerns for me has been the lack of transparency regarding my treatment status and continuity of care. When patients reach out asking for clarification or support, they deserve timely responses and professionalism, not to feel like they are being avoided. I also felt that concerns I raised were not taken seriously, and the overall experience created unnecessary stress during a time when I was specifically seeking help and stability. I strongly encourage anyone seeking services to make sure they document all communications and advocate for themselves throughout the process.

I stumbled upon this gem of a place and was connected with Malika, and I’m so grateful I was. I’ve been through many therapists over the years without experiencing real, lasting change, but the growth I’ve made since… working with her has been truly invaluable. She’s made such a meaningful difference in my life

This place is extremely unprofessional and misleading. When I initially applied to NYCC Psychotherapy Center, I was explicitly told I could choose between therapy, medication management, or both. There was no mention… whatsoever that therapy would be required in order to receive psychiatric care. After deciding therapy was not a good fit for me, I was suddenly told I’m “not eligible” for medication-only appointments — with zero clear explanation. No clinical reasoning, no transparency, nothing. Just a vague denial. It honestly feels like the rules are being made up as they go. Either staff are not properly trained on their own policies, or patients are being misled during intake just to get them in the door. Instead of addressing the inconsistency, I was brushed off and told they could “help me find another agency,” which is not a solution — it’s avoidance. Patients should not have to chase down basic clarity or be forced into services they don’t want just to access care they were told was available. This experience felt dismissive, disorganized, and completely lacking in accountability. I would strongly recommend asking very detailed questions upfront, because what you’re told initially may not reflect how they actually operate.

These people are quick to close your case regardless of whatever it is your going thru therapist get easily overwhelmed and leave you in the dark from one moment to the next and before you know it you will looking for… another therapist for the most ridiculous reasons. On a scale of 1-10 they rate -5 for compassion.

I have been referring students for years to NY Psychotherapy. The staff are very respectful, helpful and informative. What I love is that once I do a referral immediately they will contact the family for an appointment… for an intake. They do not wait or week or two. Sometimes the same day that I refer them. Their schedule for appointments is flexible and they are able to work with the family based on days of the week morning or evening or weekend. I am very pleased with New York Psychotherapy. Thank you so much for your exceptional service.

I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. I contacted this clinic during a suicidal crisis and was told I could receive support. Due to my father passing I missed one appointment. Instead of… rescheduling or checking on my safety, I received a call telling me I was being dropped as a client due to the missed appointment. Clients seeking therapy are human beings dealing with real-life situations, illness, and mental health crises. In my case, the lack of flexibility and compassion during a very vulnerable time was extremely disappointing and concerning. If you are considering services here, I strongly recommend asking about their attendance and discharge policies ahead of time, especially if you are seeking care during a mental health crisis.

I didn"t even make it past the intake interview. I was scheduled to meet with Ms. Ashley Marti Soto for an interview, and to my surprise she did not show up. I waited for about 30 minutes, but to no avail. Considering… this is a mental health counseling center, I deduced they would value people's time, but evidently, that is not the case. A higher level of professional courtesy regarding time management is needed. This experience has led me to seek services elsewhere. If you're looking for counseling and genuine help they are not it. Good luck in your search!

I got enrolled because I felt I needed help. This place stressed me out so bad! Voided so much emotional distress. Ive experienced a lot of terrible facility’s that are meant to help people but this place has no… competition as The worst. The people the services are freaking traumatizing not helpful. If you need help don’t go here. Find somewhere else I seen someone say the same thing reviewing this place and it couldn’t be more true for me.

If you need truly need help and aren't in a great place mentally, I cannot recommend NYPCC. Easily some of the worst administration in the field. If you don't have a good sense of self-advocacy, they will treat you like… a number. First counselor was fantastic but either quit/was fired and I was given no heads up. I felt no connection with my 2nd counselor was told to 'just deal with it' or find a better reason to switch by her Admin. (This alone is insane.) After arguing, I was able to get a 3rd counselor who again was fantastic, but who then had a family emergency and quit. I'm working with my 4th counselor now, we have a really good connection now but needless to say this process has been extremely daunting. In all fairness I went in for assistance in Psychiatry, I've had only 1 psychiatrist and feel very grateful for her. 1 great doctor does not make up for the abhorrent service.

I am absolutely disgusted with this place! My husband is going through a mental health crisis, and they spent a month with a form meant to protect his job, and also one for me as his caregiver. They need countless… authorizations to fill out something that should only take 30 minutes and one try if done correctly. Not to mention that they supposedly called me to help, but when I mentioned another form they never filled out for my husband, Nicole Rebadette, she didn't even let me explain. She said, "I have an appointment and call medical records." I felt like she was mocking me, and I felt like they didn't care at all about helping the patient! I feel like I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown too. The stress level I'm under because of this situation is unbelievable! I hold this clinic responsible for anything that happens to my husband at home because he's alone since they didn't give me the paperwork to care for him in time!

They let go my Therapist. I tried calling them and the line was always busy. They called my phone twice in one day and then send a letter stating they are closing my case. I received the letter after my case was stated… to have been closed. Don’t recommend them at all.
