IF I COULD ABSOLUTELY GIVE NO STARS I WOULD! I MYSELF WAS ABUSED & MISHANDLED THERE AFTER BEING FOUND COMING OUT OF A POST SEIZURE STATE THAT ONLY TAKES 2-3 DAYS TO BOUNCE BACK FROM & WITH MY OWN TWO GOD GIVEN EYES… WITNESSED THE ABUSE BY WORKERS THERE TO BOTH DEFENSELESS ELDERLY PATIENTS & OTHERS !! POLICE WASN'T ALOWED TO ENTER TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO OBSERVE MY THEN MOST CURRENT STATE OF MIND AS MONEY HUNGRY DOCTORS LIED TO GET MY LOVELY TWO TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCES !!! AS A VETERAN I FIND THIS BEYOOND DISPICABLE WHEN I DO HAVE MY OWN VA ACCESS & PRIMARY CARE TAKER & FAMILY IN CARE OF MYSELF AS I STRUGGLE THROUGH NEWFOUND EPILEPSY SYMPTOMS THAT I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED IN OVER 30 DECADES !!! TAKEN OVER 8 MILES TO THIS FACILITY FURTHER RISKING MY LIFE BY PASSING MORE CONVENIENT & ACCESSIBLE MEDICAL FACILITIES WHILE IN ROUTE TO THIS MUCH FURTHER LOCATION. I WAS KEPT THROUGH THE ENTIRE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY STRAIGHT THROUGH THE NEW YEAR 2026 FOR NO TRUE & VALID NEED! I HAVE A CHILD & FAMILY AT HOME WHO STRESSED WHILE NO ONE THERE HAD COMMON KNOWLEDGE & DECENCY TO AT LEAST INFORM MY MOTHER WHOM IS LISTED AS EMERGENCY CONTACT IN ALL RECORDS !! I WAS BARGAINED WITH TO ACCEPT A STILL UNKNOWN CHEMICAL IN ORDER TO BE RELEASED AS DOCTORS PLAYED ON MY TEARS & PLEADING TO BE RETURNED TO FAMILY AFTER 10 TRAUMATIC FILLED DAYS THERE FURTHER GROWING PTSD & ANXIETY !!! AS A SINGLE MOTHER MY ATTACHED CHILD EVEN REFUSEDTO OPEN HIS GIFTS🎁 FURTHER RUINING HIS HOLIDAY !!!! WAS PLACED ON PHONE RESTRICTION AFTER NURSES REALIZED I WAS CALLING 911 FOR HELP. HIPPA RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED AS EMPLYEE STOOD IN MIDDLE OF FILLED ROOM TO EXPLAIN TO EVERYONE MY CONDITIONS USING THAT AS REASON I CHOOSE TO DEFEND MYSELF THERE IN THAT FILTHY, DIRTY, DISPICABLE, PENITENTIARY-LIKE PLACE !!! JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE SUFFERS FROM EPILEPSY DOESN'T MAKE THEM UNINTELLIGENT OR A STREET DRUGGER !!! & I AM IN POSSESSION OF A STATE ISSUED MARIJUANA CARD & RARELY EVEN USE THAT ! IN USE WHEN SEIZURES ARE SUPER HURTFUL WITH LINGERING PAINS !!

The people who end up here are generally from East Jeff or West Jeff Hospital, from what I noticed during my stay. This hospital is absolutely atrocious. The staff is incredibly unprofessional, openly discussing other… patients, their reasons for admission, and even their medication treatments. I even saw staff members get into yelling matches with patients. Getting anything from the staff was a chore. Even if you managed to catch someone's attention for a moment, you had to hope they would actually follow through, as questions and requests were routinely ignored. To say the food was horrible is an understatement. It was grits for breakfast every single morning. Getting a cup of coffee was a rat race, assuming you were fast enough to grab one of the only 24 cups brought out for the entire floor. The shower and bathroom facilities were terrible. They give you a mat for the floor because the showers don't drain properly. Since there is no floor drain and the ground slopes toward the toilet, the shower constantly floods the rest of the room. From what I recall, the cleaning crew only came three times a day. If your toilet clogged, you had to wait for the housekeeper to make her rounds. If it happened at night, you were completely out of luck until morning. They would only let us outside twice a day, typically between 10 AM and 2 PM. It depended entirely on when the social worker arrived to open the door for group therapy, which took place outside in the blaring July heat. The psychiatrist I saw seemed okay initially. It wasn't until I was discharged after nine days that I realized she had prescribed a much higher dose of a medication than we agreed upon. Getting to see the psychiatrist was difficult enough, and there were two days where I didn't even realize I had missed my chance to speak with her or anyone else. One of the staff members in particular was extremely nasty. His name was Kermin or Kermit (I don't recall exactly, but it was something like that). I watched him verbally and physically threaten a patient in a wheelchair who was being discharged and simply trying to get her personal belongings back. This staffer generally just watched television all day, ignoring patients' requests to change the channel. I even watched him withhold snacks from people he didn't like. I saw one woman in a wheelchair who went almost the entire nine days I was there without receiving help to take a bath. I heard her ask on several different days for assistance, but she was always told to ask again later. She kept reiterating that she had been asking for days and that no one would help her. This is completely unacceptable. This isn't even everything that happened during my brief nine-day stay, of course. The entire experience was a complete clown show.

A one star is giving this hospital to much credit. I have been a patient at other facilities and know the difference. This shouldn't even be called a hospital the staff is so unprofessional and can care less about… helping people. The social worker Mariah when you try to ask to talk just laughs and walks away. I am using my husband's page so wanted to say as a woman the most horrific part of my stay was sharing the same hallway with men and women this should be illegal a door down no separation you have to trust other men to watch that noone goes in your room. Don't even ask for family to be contacted on your behalf because no matter how many people you ask to add your spouse to who they can talk to it doesn't matter the only time they are contacted is the day you leave, that's done purposely so they can say you have no where to go until your 10 th day when insurance is done being drained. I was even approached and told I had to pay $1800 to leave I kept saying I didn't have that amount but they wanted me to sign a paper with saying I approved that amount I refused to I will say it wasn't brought up again but they did bill for a ton of medicine I was never even given. The food I can't even begin to say how horrible dog food would have been better served If it wasn't for the snacks I would honestly have starved I'm not picky but threw up the few times I tried it it's so terrible. The best part of my stay was my first day throwing up on the clothes of a nasty worker I felt bad at first but a few days in she deserved it. Please do not ever send your loved ones here for help they are just thrown in a room nothing to do while trying to keep your sanity from all the yelling patients. 💯 -0000000000000000

If you are looking for an in-patiemt facility, please DO NOT choose this one. During my daughter's in-patient stay in 2025 they did not give her vital medication she needed due to the complex nature of her chronic… health conditions. They did not answer the phone and refused to listen about her medical needs. I showed up in person and brought all of her medicine and lists of when she needed it. They never gave it to her. She was not allowed to communicate with me for several days. Noone informed me that she needed clothes or could have visits. It was days before a social worker called asking me to bring clothes. A nurse or aide went so far as to say I had not heard from my daughter because she did not want to see me. It was a lie. The neglect at this facility was atrocious. Because if them I now have medical power of attorney. I seriously doubt that they would honor it if I had one in place at the time. I sat for several hours in the lobby on the day she was discharged because noone would answer the phone or tell me exactly when she was being released.

Worst experience of my life being here. I was sent here on what was supposed to be just a 72 hour hold and they kept me for 8 days and never once explained why. They give you medications and don’t explain what they are… giving you or what they are for. I was in fear for my life because I had a roommate who was threatening me and they did nothing about it but let me sleep in a “quiet room” where I had to drag my mattress out of my room every night to sleep there. The day time staff was horrible to the patients, especially the elderly. Saw multiple times where elderly patients were abused in this facility. I NEVER want to go back to this facility again. I hope no one in my family ever has to go to this place again. I now have PTSD from being in this place that I am now working through with my out patient therapist. I would give this place negative stars if I could!! THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!!

I'm writing this review on behalf of my sister in law, she described this place as horrible. The food is awful, you will never see a Dr but they will give you medi. The rooms are filthy , the bathroom is nasty the… cleaning staff is horrible. The patients are being mistreated and abused. Avoid this place by all means. Never ever go here looking for help, you will be traumatized. Don't expect toothpaste soap or personal care items. One patient was being given solid food ever though she was choking on the food, this was worst than being in prison. I give this place zero stars.

The most compassionate staff stay safely behind closed doors while the very few ill-trained meager crew are left to give the least amount of care imaginable. But hey, at least the food is good. Kudos to the kitchen… workers and the cleanup crews...

An absolutely horrible place that left me with trauma that I had to process through. I was admitted there in 2023 but I’m not going to let y’all slide on this one. I went to the emergency room at lallie kemp hoping to… get SLEEP MEDICATION after experiencing months of insomnia and a few nights of getting 0-3 hours of sleep. I TOLD them that I felt like I needed sleep and counseling. I didn’t know I’d be sent to a behavioral hospital, they didn’t tell me. They gave me something to sleep in a room and then the next thing I know, I was being awakened and was sent to Oceans in the middle of the night. They held me there for 10 days, while I was showing absolutely NO signs of being a threat to myself or anyone else. I was coherent and much more aware than they would have preferred me to be. I was aware of every single moment of agony there. THEY were causing the distress by keeping me there. I had no history of mental health issues. They refused to provide me with deodorant, a toothbrush, and a hairbrush. They would literally take it during the middle of night, in an attempt to make me appear ‘disheveled.’ But I was in my right mind and knew exactly what was going on. And I had to go and ask for these basic hygiene products that they took from me. When I was finally ‘released’, I requested MY medical records from them by PHONE, EMAIL, FAX, AND IN PERSON AT THE FACILITY. And they REFUSED to give them to me, due to HIPPA BUT I WAS THE PATIENT. HOW COULD I NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO MY OWN MEDICAL RECORDS???? And to this day, they never gave them to me. So, I couldn’t see what kind of lies and falsified statements they wrote about me while I was there. It still upsets me how they refused to give me my own records and I had NO one to advocate for me to get those records. Of course, if they weren’t going to give it to me then they certainly wouldn’t give them to my family. And someone has to put a stop to this. They’re literally causing unnecessary trauma to people and playing with people’s minds and mental health, and they are NOT being held accountable for it. I could’ve actually LOST my mind just from being admitted there. Very sick operation that this state is allowing to continue to be ran. Jose Rodriguez and Aida Craig Robertson, you should be ashamed. Mental health is fragile and so is the mind.

If I could give this place no stars, I would. I was held here against my will during Mardi Gras and refused to take the medicine they prescribed me. For the simple fact that I have been prescribed depakote and… risperidol in the past and I do not react well to antipsychotics. The nurses constantly berated me and treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about when it came to my personal mental health history. The doctor was only in one time and diagnosed me with schizoaffective disorder all because I said the one sentence “I don’t know, this is honestly all feeling set up to me”. The staff at Touro hospital were looking at my TikTok and Facebook before I was transported to oceans. Thats why I said that…I don’t hallucinate, Now I was experiencing psychosis due to the stress I was under. I’m prone to experiencing that during times of immense stress and I had recently been evicted and was homeless. But that doesn’t change the fact my primary diagnosis’ are ADHD and autism, which I am properly medicated for again. Holding people against there will is NOT HELPFUL. At no point during this was I a danger or threat to myself or others. The worst I do was cuss out the redheaded charge nurse who was SO NASTY towards me my entire stay(Kaylee I think was here name)….of course they hit me with the booty juice claiming I was “manic”. But when you are being held against your will, not being heard or listened to, and then being told you can’t wear shorts and told in the most sarcastic and disgusting tone “if you would just take the medicine they would let you out” you are given reasons to act “manic”. They treated patients like we were wild animals being held in a cage.

If I could give this place negative 5 stars I would. All the negative reviews are 1000000000% true. This “company” is ran down and have NO INTEREST in helping your loved one. THEY ABUSE and treat their patients and… patients family like it’s a bother to wake up & do the job they applied for. If you don’t have a good heart & can’t do what’s right by YOUR PATIENT — QUIT. People depend on YOUR COMPANY to help the ones they love. This place is hell on earth. Save yourself and family members the stress and also potentially losing your loved one because they keep all patients doped up without food/drink/necessities. My mom did not get the care she needed she was on so many meds she slept for 13 days straight and lost over 25 lbs.

This place is terrible, the only good thing about it is a few good staff members. They talk about patients, tell other people why people are there, refused to get someone to fix phones, don’t answer questions, they’re… rude towards certain patients they don’t favor. The cleaning lady barely cleans the bathrooms. They let a girl seize out on the floor for almost an hour while everyone could see. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who needs actual mental help.

Lack of communication with the family members. They keep telling us if the patient wants to speak with us they have a phone there for them to call us. My mother has Lewy Body dementia and doesn't know how to use a phone… anymore. We went to visit her and they told us she didn't want visitors, which we kind of figured she would do because she's having severe delusions from the dementia and thinks she has a new husband and family. I do not like how they don't inform family members of anything that's going on with them. If they've even put her on new medications or anything. It's more like she's in a prison than in a place to care for her.

I guess they somehow got my previous review taken down. But 5 years later, I am still thinking about how I no longer have my grandfather because of this place. He was a very sharp and intelligent man who was had… unfortunately been prescribed 2 medications with adverse side effects by his GP, so he ended up here after being transferred by the general hospital. He did not last 2 full days here. They would not feed him, give him water, or treat him like a human. I could hear people screaming through the other walls in the other rooms. It was like a horror movie. The night of his passing, the person on the phone called to tell me he was not okay and then proceeded to admit that they had to "give him another dose of antipsychotics to calm him down"... so you made him overdose? This is a common occurrence here, overmedicating patients. I showed up there after being told over the phone that he lost his pulse and instead of expressing their condolences, they immediately asked me, "which funeral home do you want him sent to?". Within seconds after I kissed him and said my goodbyes. I do NOT understand how this place is still operating. But I have spoken to others who unfortunately lost their loved ones shortly after their stay at this facility. If you care about yourself and those close to you, do not allow them ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE.

If you have members there take them out as soon as you can.

Rude staff. They care more about what's going on in their lives and always on the phone with friends. No one has any clue what's going on. They lost my personal items and just left me in paper pajamas for 4 days until… someone found my stuff at the nurses station after I begged an actual nurse to help. I had no access to my phone so my friends and family had no idea where I was for over a week. They have no control over patients. Multiple fights broke out and their solution was stand back and let everyone else break it up then stick em with drugs and knock them out. If, by some miracle things have changed since October 2023 I apologize.

I was worried after reading all these negative reviews, my mom doesn’t speak much English so I was scared the staff would mistreat her , but I spoke with her everyday and she said the staff was very kind , she mentioned… they take showers daily , get new scrubs everyday. The facility did smell like urine . I was also able to visit her , a counselor (Angelle Hobbs) got a hold of me and was very communicative . Which put my mind at ease .
