The Ranch is the best place you can be!! Don't give up!
The accommodations and food were very good. The curriculum and therapists were very helpful in my mental health recovery. I highly recommend The Ranch.
The Ranch was overall a great experience.... The property has great views, amazing sunsets and wild life, an amazing kitchen staff serving great food, clean rooms. Lots of activities like a rope course and archery,… yoga, music, art, volleyball, basketball court, pickle ball, horseshoes, instruments to play and a pool table. A cool medicine wheel they take you to on walks. The staff was great and helpful for most part. Went there for mental health and the program was great! Loved learning the DBT Skills. Substance does the same program so it's not a traditional 12 step program. It helps that when you leave you leave with a community that understands what your going though.... just bring a blanket with you the ac really works in room!
Great experience here at The Ranch. They stabilized me on my medications and I felt great before going home. Excellent therapists who understand mental health issues and great curriculum to get yourself back on track… and feeling better.
I successfully completed the program here, and much of the day-to-day staff is wonderful, well-meaning, and genuinely wants to see you recover. Others it is just a job! The Areas for Serious Improvement: Safety &… Acuity Mixing: The facility struggles to safely manage patients with high-acuity behavioral outbursts. I witnessed destructive behavior that put other residents' physical safety in jeopardy, with inadequate staff intervention or monitoring. Staff Attitudes: While some staff are great, others hold highly stigmatizing, unapproachable attitudes toward those recovering from addiction. Nutrition: For a facility that treats health issues should also treat eating disorders, the food quality is incredibly poor—mostly frozen, pre-packaged that do not support physical healing. Faith-Based Leadership: For those seeking the Christian track, the spiritual leadership is highly inconsistent. When the primary leader is away, there is no proper coverage or structure for Sunday services or Bible study. Alumni Gatekeeping: Upon graduating, I was denied entry into the alumni group simply because I declined to use a shared staff tablet to fill out an exit survey, requesting a link on my personal device instead. Verdict: I am grateful for my recovery, but the management needs to address safety protocols, food quality, and staff training immediately. Stigma from the very people paid to help: Staff treating former addicts or those with mental health struggles as "unapproachable" or lesser-than is deeply damaging. Safety oversights: Mixing high-acuity patients who may be physically destructive with others without proper, active security or staff positioning is a massive liability and a threat to your peace of mind. Nutrition paradoxes: Serving frozen, poor-quality food in a facility that also treats disorders is counterproductive and, frankly, unacceptable. Petty gatekeeping: Denying you alumni status just because you set a healthy boundary about digital security (refusing to use their device for a survey) is incredibly rigid and unfair.
Very good mental health services.
I was completely satisfied with my stay at Promises, The Ranch Pennsylvania. I got so much from their program and am consistently using the coping skills I learned there to maintain my sobriety. A special shoutout goes… to my therapist there, Tiffany, she was amazing and really helped me to learn to love myself again. I miss her terribly. My experience there was second to none and I would highly recommend it. If you are struggling with mental health and/or addiction this is tge place for you. And, the property, grounds, and view of the water are absolutely amazing. Thanks, Meghan Edden
I want to write a review that is as fair as possible. I went to the Ranch for alcohol detox, depression, and C-PTSD. I will be honest that I was in an emotionally difficult head space. So, I went to The Ranch to get… help. The Ranch is set in a beautiful natural environment. I loved the set up of cabins and the main building. It gives the feeling of a vacation lodge. The chef and his team make really yummy meals that everyone loved. I met some other clients who were really nice and friendly. There were a small handful of staff that I was able to safely connect with also, and they were very supportive and helpful to me. However, there are incredible systematic issues that need to be addressed by the corporate higher ups. It isn’t just one or two staff, it is the entire system that has corroded. The nurses and BHT staff are way overworked and under staffed. - I waited and complained for several days to nursing about several medical issues I had. It took over 4 days to just get me on Dr. Rob’s calendar for an appointment. - I had an infection that was very uncomfortable and getting worse, that was never fully addressed. - There were major HIPAA violations in the nurses station. I could hear nurses talking clear as day on the phone about myself and others. A simple noise machine would solve this issue, but they aren’t addressing it. - I was lied to several times by staff. For instance, on a Saturday I had some medical issues that needed attention. At 6:30 am, I spoke to a nurse about them. She said that she would send an email to the “on call doctor”. I kept checking in with her throughout the day to see if the doctor had responded. She kept saying “not yet.” Later I was told that there were no doctors working on the weekend. I was told that I could go to urgent care. This is a major concern for me that I spent 6 days in discomfort, and not a single nurse gave me the option to take care of the infection quickly by going to urgent care. The BHT staff were also overworked and understaffed. - There were major inconsistencies with how staff handled the community environment. - A few seemed to generally care and I could talk to them, but other staff were burnt out and felt very unsafe for me. When I attempted to talk with them, I became more escalated, rather than being helped. - Many lacked basic skills in deescalation and healthy communication. - There is a definite lack of neutrality in how some staff handle community relations. Giving favoritism and preference to some clients over others. - I don’t think that one single client should be given a leadership role in the community over all others. This sets up a precedent that is extremely unhealthy and dangerous in a community like this. Allowing the client to feel superior and more entitled than others. Leadership roles should be diverse and dispersed among all to give a sense of equal ownership and partnership to everyone. All in all, the lack of information, communication, deception, waiting for days for much needed medical attention, and having to navigate hard situations by myself, left me extremely disregulated to the point of having to leave AMA. It wasn’t until I drove off the program’s property that I realized just how shot my nervous system had become. I processed my experience with my husband on our way home, and realized that this program was ill equipped to treat me. It was definitely a good learning experience for me. I have spent the last two days researching various residential programs all over the USA. I found one that is much smaller and more specialized in C-PTSD that is located in California. I fly out tomorrow morning. I realize that I am very privileged to even have such an opportunity. I recommend The Ranch for those who have mild to moderate mental health concerns. However, if you’re experiencing severe mental health issues, I would suggest going elsewhere. They just simply aren’t equipped to manage these symptoms, unless they make major improvements to their program.
Do not I repeat do not send your loved one here. I was a patient for 19 days for mental health. Yes it is mixed with both men and women. They only run your insurance for 10 days only after 10 days. Everyone gets called… in to tell them that their insurance was denied and they demand you pay $4000 to stay the remaining 10 days. after I left they billed me over $60,000 for nine days reduced down to $4880. I called my insurance company and they confirmed they did not run my insurance for 20 days. They only run it for 10 days! they will not answer the phone to you in billing nor will they call you back. They were taking money by direct debit from mine and my husband‘s account. The only reason it stopped and they had to refund it was because my bank is investigating them for fraud and I locked my card. They are all about the money, there the amount of drama and fights that break out there every day between the men and the women is absolutely ridiculous. There is patience hooking up with each other in the bathrooms. Inside of the building. If you are more than 3 mins late down the stairs to see your psychiatrist she will cancel your appointment and I’ll see you for a whole week. She was absolutely horrendous. Do not send your loved one here please. It makes you worse rather than better especially when you come out of there
If you are going for addiction this place may help. If you are going for Mental Health AVOID AT ALL COST. I talked to a doctor for 30 seconds a week. (was there for over a month) about 1-2 days in I had a talk with a… psychiatrist, the only real one my entire time there. They gave me 2mg of a anti psychotic, never once adjusted the medication after that. It wasn't until I made it in to a PHP after my stay that they tried to adjust the medication and the side effects were dangerous, they had to stop the one drug The Ranch gave me all together. Right before my discharge they gave me my phone and had me write a 5 star review. (Which is how the reviews are this high). The staff great people, the program itself couldn't help a snail deal with depression none the less a human being. To this day I am still dealing with the consequences. You are dollar signs to these corporations. Again for addiction I can't say thats not why I went but if you planning on going for mental health I highly recommend you go somewhere else. If someone from the Ranch reads this and tries to respond, save it. I don't want to hear it. If you are reading this because you are in crisis and need help, do not trust the 5 star reviews its all bogus. Just want to add look for the one star reviews, many more reactions to the one star reviews then the 5 star reviews. Why do you think that is?
I was in a very bad place before I went to The Ranch. During the time I was there I made huge improvements due to the skills they teach and other opportunities I was able to try. I've been home for two weeks now and I'm… still doing really well. According to my grandmother this is the best mood I've been in in my entire life.
Called to be admitted, the admissions person was beyond rude up on her high horse. If you WANT to be judge and treated dumb, the ranch is the place to be!!! I seen the negative comments before & still thought let’s give… them a chance LOL steer clear of the ranch!!!!!
Things started ok Then our son was told he had to leave for violating policies. No more information provided. Refunds office voice mail said they respond timely but 2 weeks of voice messages left and multiple emails… have not even been acknowledged. Very disappointed and unethical.
Mike from alumni is amazing
Would highly recommend for anybody seeking recovery! Phenomenal staff and treatment team
I had a very positive and productive stay at The Ranch. All of the staff were helpful in addressing any of my questions and/or concerns. I would definitely recommend this facility. Also the sense of community there was… palpable. I met some really great people, and plan on continuing to be in contact with them going forward. I also plan to join in on the Rooted alumni program.
Great place, might even fake a relapse just to go back!
Helped me manage my symptoms. Therapists and clinicians are helpful and skilled. A lot of good technicians who can be there for you if you ever need to chat.
The Ranch truly saved my life. I came in due to a significantly unfortunate self-created event in my life that I was suffering deeply from and this place helped me pick up the pieces. The therapists, BHTs, and other… staff members held me accountable the entire time, but showed me grace throughout. The skills I learned will stay with me long past this incident. I felt like the Ranch provided a safe, healthy, and highly informative place to heal and grow. If you or a loved one is in crisis, I recommend looking into the Ranch. I will forever be grateful I had the opportunity to be there.
very nice staff and great food would highly recommend for anyone that needs help in the first step in recovery!!!
The Ranch was my first (and hopefully last) rehab experience, and I can't commend them enough for their services. The therapists on staff are engaged in your recovery and you can tell that they care, and the BHTs are… relatable with a lot of them having a background in addiction as well. It truly depends on the community cultivated during your time there, but I made so many friends that I truly hope stay in my life (:
The Ranch has been monumental to my mental health recovery. The staff is super supportive and Nicole is the best psychiatric nurse practitioner i’ve had. She’s very professional and will actually listen to your symptoms… and background to learn how to best support you. If you are looking for answers on your own mental health / addiction journey I would definitely recommend coming here.
Review for The Ranch of Pennsylvania My experience at The Ranch of Pennsylvania was truly life‑changing. I completed the PRISM program, and the staff and support were absolutely off the charts. Every person there showed… real compassion, patience, and dedication. The food was great, the environment was peaceful, and I always felt cared for and respected. I’m leaving with a clearer mind, a stronger foundation, and a commitment to staying rooted in everything I’ve learned. I’m grateful for the guidance, the structure, and the genuine support that helped me move forward in a healthier direction. The Ranch is a place of real healing, and I’m thankful I chose to come here .
