Samadhi Center Inc – Kingston

My husband went to this place. It was my hope that he would find the right guidance and that he would be admitted to a treatment program where he could dedicate himself to and be immersed in treatment for his… alcoholism, including therapies on different topics such as temperament, aggression, emotional control, etc. I have dealt with many things and difficult moments for seven years because of his addiction. I have endured the intolerable, I have suffered a lot, but he went to his appointment and, according to them, they didn't think he should be admitted for a month. On the contrary, they offered him one-hour therapy sessions, three days a week. I think they should include the family and what the family is going through to reach this conclusion, because an alcoholic lies, is manipulative, and will do everything possible to stay in their comfort zone. My husband went to his first therapy session and, according to him, the one who needs therapy is me. And according to this place's assessment, and I want to clarify, I have already been in therapy . It was my decision, And not because I have addictions, I don't have any, I did it because I've carried too much alone, because his alcoholism has triggered anxiety and panic attacks in me; the shouting and knowing that he's drunk or drinking constantly puts me on high alert to protect myself, because I feel broken and hopeless. I find it highly unprofessional and absurd that—without interviewing the affected parties (the "family")—they would issue such conclusions. I have no choice but to get a divorce, because—based on this interview—he has convinced himself that things aren't so bad and that he isn't an alcoholic.

SAMADHI has such GREAT potential. But for people that are actively struggling with addiction, this might not be the place for you. The fact that they don't drug test the people that come to their groups, is completely… mind blowing to me. I had someone very close to me going to their programs and SEVERAL of the groups had other patients nodding off during groups. Drugs testing is necessary, bc addicts lie. They will tell you all day they aren't using and face no consequences. Without real life consequences, an addict will never get better. Without being held accountable for their choices and relapses, they will never get better. And when people are clearly nodding off in groups, how is that acceptable or fair at all for those who are ACTUALLY staying clean. Simply requiring drug tests and requiring HONESTY should be their #1 rule to attend their programs. Or it DOES NOT WORK and is a waste of the programs time, the patients that are actually doing the right thing, and of course those running the programs.

I don't know where I would be without Samadhi. They have been my guiding light through the darkest hours of my life. They are some of the most wonderful people I've ever met. I have learned so much about myself and life… in general that I probably wouldn't have found without them. Philip, Matt, Patrick, and Ryan in particular will always have special place in my heart.

This place has become a home to me. Recovery is possible. I support harm reduction and M.A.T. it works I have seen it with my own eyes

Samadhi has a warm, welcoming vibe. The community helps you to feel comfortable, cared for, and a part of. There are so many different groups offered, it’s child friendly, and it’s clean!

I came in one day and never left. I love Samadhi. All the services are free and the staff are dedicated to helping those in need. What’s not to love? If I could give six stars I would.

I am in very early recovery and am very grateful for this community.. not even sure how to put in words how helpful samahdi (as a whole) has been.. I was on brink of death, my mom discovered samahdi by accident and I… feel they have helped save my life. Thank you!
