UPMC Somerset – Somerset

First time ever at this Somerset Hospital (It was a Tuesday) right before 4pm and they checked us in ok but after that it was Horrible!!!! We sat down and waited and waited and waited and waited. No one telling us… anything a lady screaming and bawling for hours assuming she was in excruciating pain and she people still coming in and waiting too!!! Well 9pm came… so I finally went to the desk and asked do you have any idea when we might be seen and she then told us that all the beds are Full and People are even in the hallway in Beds and they have No Idea When We’ll be seen!?!? Really, Then Before We Signed In Why The Hell Couldn’t You Have Just Been Courteous Enough To Tell Us That Before We Signed In and Sat In Pain And Had To Listen To A Grown Woman Bawling 😭 Her Eyes Out For 2 Hours Straight ?!? Because We Would Have Went To A Different ER To Be Seen and Not Have Been Put Through All That Trauma And Loose 5 hrs Of Getting To A Doctor That Could Have Been Fixing Us Up, So We Would Feel Better! Instead we left there feeling Worse because We were So Stressed Out because of What We Were Seeing There And Hearing There!!! I hope you get things fixed there or you get shut down because I’m sure you all know exactly everything that I’m talking about

I’m going to finally leave a review here after 2 years and multiple trips and experiences: 1. I had an operation preformed here to remove a tumor from my foot. My dr. / surgeon was from an outside clinic in greensburg.… He did amazingly. The hospital staff was… okay. They didn’t listen to me about an issue I have and it made things interesting. However I arrived home and was able to heal up from the surgery with no issues. 2024 2. I came here a year later for a separate unrelated procedure…. The intake process was miserable, and the waiting room looked and felt rough, the hallways felt… worn, and the elevator… didn’t inspire confidence. The secondary waiting room, was also dirty feeling and worn looking, the staff seemed stressed out, and unhappy, the nurse who helped me was alright, but seemed pressured to just get through things quickly. I was happy to leave. I felt bad for the staff and whatever is happening there. It was completely different from my first visit.

If you need an Emergency Room, I do NOT recommend this one!! You will wait for HOURS!

Of course in an emergency you need care. One question that I always ask since I’m a a Veteran is do you work with the VA system for them to pay you? Nobody here knows.Not one no one up front not one. A person with 20… plus years I’m not in billing I don’t want to give you the wrong information. My doctor said I don’t know!!!! These people are trained to say I don’t know. So don’t trust them period.Because they DONT KNOW. Of course I found out later if you’re not enrolled in the VA health care system in this region you pay most likely. The care was ok however they just want your money. So now we all know. Will update.If at all possible go elsewhere where college educated people KNOW something.

Waited over 4 hours for my toddler to get seen. Never go past the waiting room. Didn’t like this hospital back in 2016 after they said they didn’t want my child born there. Now this, you shouldn’t wait in a waiting room… for that long ever

Hospital was clean. Staff was very kind & helpful. Wonderful care. Dr. was amazing!

Theyre dismissive and dont do much testing to find the root of the problem i once came in with gallstones and they sent me home saying I had acid reflux

Entire experience was unbelievable. Had to be admitted and couldn’t have asked for a better hospital. Food was amazing.

This us to be a really good Hospital. Now show up you are bleeding. In the waiting room 6 hours later. A doctor shows up asking you what is going on ok we are going to run some tests. Waiting 6 more hour's. So if you… need Help. Go anywhere other than. Than this Hospital. They don't have the staff where they need staff . Over staffed in other areas . If you need surgery you will have to go to an other Hospital. When They get you tests back a Doctor then tells you . It doesn't look go you are not making through the night. Then You call everyone saying you are not making it. JUST PAY YOUR STAFF better. Get more help so you can help the people.

Every single staff member I met was extremely friendly. Took my girlfriend to have surgery.

Went to ER glad accident. Doctor in room less than 5 mins barely evaluated me. Had nurse discuss results of tests. Doc never came back in. I should have went to Pittsburgh! AGH.

This is one of the most disgusting hospitals ever. i used to comercial clean and i would be so dissatisfied with my work if i left it the way it always is here. Dust in every corner and on everything, it looks like… someone just mopped the middle of each walk way. It never smells clean anywhere but the er, which is ridiculous. I also would never recommend coming here for care. i waited 45 mins past my scheduled ct scan because they are so unorganized. Get a better cleaning staff and system. Maybe you wouldn’t have 2.8 stars then.

The worst hospital around! My husband was done wrong by this place twice, both with life long negative consequences! The other night they denied him an advocate and threatened to not treat him and throw him out if he… didn't agree to a covid test despite his oxygen level hovering around 80%!!!! They refused to look for the root cause of his breathing issue because to them nothing exists but flu and covid. Despite his X-rays showing problems they didn't treat it. The doctor yelled at us because we asked why they were giving him a certain medication and so called patient advocate at the hospital screamed in his face until she got tired of it and threatened to throw him out if he didn't agree before she had him held down and the covid swab done anyway. On the floor they were giving all patients the same medication whether they were prescribed it or not whether they needed it or not and the same diets even though NOT doctor ordered PLUS doing blood work every morning at 5 am whether it was needed or ordered. It took them 30 minutes to respond to an alarm on his machine. The photo included is a list of things that were experienced at this facility. Especially by Samantha Papinchak and Mark Ujevich.

I received the best care in the ER. The entire were thorough and knew exactly what was wrong. I didn't have to wait to be seen or wait for my results! Huge shout out of thanks to Dr. Saloon, Justine. Jenna and Nakita… from CT. They all did such an outstanding job ..I didn't feel like I was in an emergency room!!! Thank you again!

I just want to say, that it's so easy to focus on the negative, however, I am so grateful for the excellent care I received at the emergency room. I went to emergency room on Feb. 4, 2026. Extreme pain in right side of… my back. I could barely breathe. I was seen by a very caring Dr. Albert salooma. I never had a kidney stone and thought that I might have one. When tests showed no kidney stone, Dr. Saloomas said he would figure this out. He certainly did. I had pneumonia and my severe pain was from a blood clot in lower right lung. Dr.Saloomas, thank you so much for not dismissing my pain and getting to the bottom of it. The whole medical staff in that emergency room saved my life. Thank you nurse Debbie. Debbie wears perfume that's called happy hippie. Such a nice lady. The 3rd floor nurses were all excellent. All aides, house keeping, cafeteria were all kind. And Dr. Winston, what a gem. Your personality put my mind at ease. This was a very scary thing to happen. I just wanted to focus on the positive. Thank you upmc!!!

Would rate 0 stars if I could, do not take yourself or any loved ones to this facility. We were referred to UPMC Somerset by our pediatrician for an IV when our son was sick. They almost sent us home without treatment… because they couldn’t get the line in. After my wife advocated for our son they eventually provided a nasal injection to help calm him and the IV was provided. Both of these treatments are all of $20 before any insurance adjustments and we just received a bill for 1780 dollars (before adjustments). How on earth do you justify 1760 of additional charges for an IV and nasal injection. Highway robbery and no easy avenue of dispute for the client. Avoid at all costs!

2.8 stars is too generous! Never have I seen a hospital who is so unorganized and who doesn't know what they are doing! Everything from the ER to being admitted. Am told one thing from one person and then told something… completely opposite in the next breath. Was to be scheduled for a procedure (at another hospital thankfully) but no one knew anything about it. I was told the procedure was at 9:30 and get there at the check in time just to be told it was 3 hours later! Was told it was something so small that no fasting or anesthesia was required, only to get at the other hospital and told I was to fast and to be put under the whole way. This is just the start of the issues I have had in 3 days. The list goes on and on! I be there isn’t even enough space to go over all the major and minor mistakes made at that hospital. I know I am going to be sent a survey so they can try to “better” themselves but trust me when I say that is not going to help. Be cautious when scheduling with them.

Had a colonoscopy there and other than being hungry before hand it went well just had a polup removed and had my tonsils and adnoids removed from there when I was younger and they did very well.

If I could give negative stars I would absolutely horrible patient care everyone wants to pass the buck can't diagnose a common cold if their life depends on it and tell you multiple times the won't release untill… everything is taken care of well apparently that means after 3 day send away for physical therapy diagnosis uti treatment nothing had to be retested at nursing home and rediagnosed also can't remember her name or anyone around her or days but she good to go according to you guys so thank you for reassuring I'm better off staying home and hoping for the best if anything ever becomes wrong with me

I went to the er around 9pm for awful ear pain that didn’t not go away (felt like my eardrum was going to rupture) got called back for triage around 10:30pm got back in the room around 10:40 Waited until around 1:20am… to ring for water and no one came keep in mind no one came to even see me at this point just sat back in the room and forgotten ( I under that there are worse illnesses and injuries than mine but come on) 1:30 I went to the desk and ask and waited until 1:50 and the girl (she was sweet don’t remember names) brought it back and I ask if there was anyway of her knowing how much longer because we are over 3 hours and no one come and she said she did not know and I just ended up telling her I was leaving and I left there around 2am. I get ers get busy but that was ridiculous

1 star rating is 1 star too many. Had my 6 year old there with a potentially broken foot for x-rays. 3 hours to take an x rays then told should have results within in an hour. After the hour we asked for an eta and was… told they don’t have anyone in office to look at the x ray so they don’t know how long it would be. The entire time we were never taken to a room. Nurse said if he wanted, we could leave and check the my chart portal for results. It’s now been 7 hours and no update on the portal. Called the number on the portal and x rays tech said nothing she can do and hung up. Place is absolutely worthless.

Absolutely horrible. 3 hours and still waiting to be taken back to see someone. Avoid if all possible. Very rude staff, also.

My 20 yr old son, my mother and I went to the hospital for a second opinion. After the experience we had yesterday at a different hospital, we were much relieved to be treated for at Somerset. No wait, and everyone that… entered my sons room was nothing short of amazing. Everyone cared, from the PA Justine, to the nurses, radiology, the lab, registration, and the housekeeper. He couldn’t stop talking about how he felt cared for. Thank you all for today, and for what you do everyday!
